Sunday Scripture

This morning at Living Waters Full Gospel Church in Homestead Florida our Lead Pastor Bob resumed his message series on Passover that will continue until Resurrection Sunday (April 01ST).

I based our monthly Communion last Sunday on the following Scripture that Pastor Bob based his sermon on this morning:

1 Corinthians 5:7-8 (NLT) – Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast – which is what you really are. Christ – our Passover Lamb – has been sacrificed for us. So let us celebrate this festival – not with the old bread of wickedness and evil – but with the new bread of sincerity and truth.

You may be wondering, “Who’s The Major ?”  The Major is me, as in “Major Hitwaves”. It’s the pseudonym that I used online from the mid-1990s through the mid-2010s. 5 years ago this month when I joined Facebook (late) I began using my real name (Christopher M. Day). You can call me Chris. For my music charts (past and present) I’m nodding to my 25 years of online history by using The Major again. Feel free to write me at anytime !

Here’s a special treat for this week. The official music video for my sole new entry this week from Riley Clemmons. Check out her climbing hit, “Broken Prayers”.

Sunday Scripture

This morning I preached a sermon titled “Wisdom & Temptation”. Here are my highlights:

  • You’re gonna need God’s wisdom to make many of life’s decisions.
  • When you ask God for guidance, for direction, for wisdom, for a way forward – do not waver. Listen to the Lord. Trust in the Lord.
  • Admit that you need God. Say it out loud, “I NEED YOU GOD !”
  • God hates pride. It’s 1 of the 7 deadly sins, but it may be the worst of them all, as it causes all other sins.
  • God loves humility. Humility cures pride. Humility crushes egos. Humility opens hearts. Humility invites wisdom.
  • Wisdom is seeing life from God’s point-of-view.
  • God loves to give us wisdom. God is pleased when we are thankful. He loves to see His children showing trust and faith in Him. That’s how we worship God.
  • God’s trials will help you grow in faith. His trials make our faith stronger.
  • The devil’s temptations will cause you to sin. Sin separates us from God.
  • God is not responsible at all for the hate and evil in the world.
  • God is perfect in every way on every day. The devil is not. All evil comes from Satan.
  • Temptation is the work of the devil – and his dirty deeds – done dirt cheap.
  • The devil uses desire – which leads to deception – which causes disobedience – which leads to death.
  • The devil is real. The devil is a liar. The devil steals and kills and destroys.

Read James 1:2-8, 12-15; Proverbs 8:13, 11:2, 2:6, 9:11-12; Colossians 2:8; Hebrews 11:6; Deuteronomy 32:4; 1 Corinthians 10:13

The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2008

  1. Friend Like That – Hawk Nelson
  2. Southern Weather – The Almost
  3. I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead – The Wedding
  4. Medicine – The Fold
  5. Casting Off – This Beautiful Republic

These were my Top 5 hits exactly 10 years ago this weekend – Sunday March 02ND 2008.

I loved The Wedding as a baby Christian a decade ago. Their hits “Morning Air” (# 2 in 2007), “Say Your Prayers” (# 2 in 2007), “Staring At The Light” (# 1 in 2007), “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” (# 3 in 2008), “Receive” (# 20 in 2008), and “Return” (#3 in 2009) rocked my face off back then with their fusion of pop, punk, and rock celebrating God’s Glory.

Next Friday night I’ll take RETRO back another 10 years to March of 1998 – back when I had no clue about God.

I’m preaching a full sermon to my church family this Sunday. I’ve got the sermon written. I just need to spend tonight and much of tomorrow editing, enhancing, and rehearsing it. I’ll share some of it with you this Sunday here on my blog.

To all of my new readers and followers worldwide I thank you so much for spending some of your time reading about my fantastic journey. My life changed forever during the 3RD week of August of 2006, and I wish to testify and preach about it for the rest of my days here on Earth.
