And Now A Word From Our Sponsor …

Hello everyone this is Major Hitwaves, but you can call me ‘The Major’.

Let me talk to you for a minute about Wendy’s Custom Bean. You know that it starts with a blend of slow-roasted 100% Arabica beans made exclusively for our restaurants by Folgers Gourmet Selections. Then our patented brewing process ensures every cup is consistently fresh and delicious. From start to finish, that’s Wendy’s Custom Bean. An exceptional cup of coffee every time.

It’s HOT. It’s Fresh. It’s Premium. It’s Delicious.

Delicious coffee starts at the bean. 100% Arabica beans. Slow roasted. Custom brewed. Wendy’s. That’s right.

Casavana Cuban Cuisine: Es Cuál Está Para El Desayuno

ESTA MAÑANA I ate breakfast at the hot new Casavana Cuban Cuisine aqui en el este de Homestead.

I walked in a las siete y veinte, and I found a nice table for me. My first waitress quickly realized that mi Español era muy limitado, so she sent out another one who understood mi Inglés un poco mejor.

I ordered the ‘Casavana Breakfast’ for $6.99. It consisted of two eggs cooked my way (scrambled), choice of ham or bacon (bacon), two pancakes with butter and syrup, Cuban toast, café con leche, y agua fría.

The scrambled eggs were nearly perfecto. I’ve had some really bad scrambled eggs recently (on a recent vacation), and this is how they are supposed to be done – not too hard – not too light.

The bacon strips were muy grande y delicioso. The pancakes were muy bien también. The café con leche was strong, and I enjoyed every last drop of it.

I historically never order a ‘to-go’ bag for uneaten foods at restaurants; however, I just couldn’t walk away from the Cuban toast that I never got to eat during this meal. It looked so good, but I was so full. It came home with me. It’s what’s for Lunch !

Mi desayuno was a smash hit, and now I must check them out para el almuerzo alguna vez.

¡ CASAVANA DE LARGO VIVO !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad: Special Wednesday Night Edition

1.  TONIGHT we had our Volunteers’ Christmas Dinner at the original church on Old Dixie Highway for all of those that serve on Sunday mornings at Life Pointe Church. There were over 100 servers in attendance, and we served ourselves to about 100 pounds of delicious food courtesy of Pollo Tropical (Chicken On The Grill !).

2.  Pastor Paul was the Master Of Ceremonies, and he did a fantastic job welcoming us, thanking us, blessing the food, and then entertaining us like only he can. The after-dinner entertainment included a fun ‘Christmas wish’ game and a festive Christmas sing-along. Paul likes to talk about me and my fantastic journey. I like it when he talks about me. I’m proud of my new Life and all of my loving friends at Life Pointe Church.

3.  I instantly spotted and identified Venus’s gourmet banana nut bread before she revealed to me the obvious – that it was indeed made by her and pulled out of the oven right before she left her home. I suggested to Venus that the banana nut bread would be a perfect snack for the Hospitality team on Sunday morning.

4.  Jesse and Terry were taking pictures of the festivities, and I tried hard to sneak myself into a few of their snapshots that I wouldn’t otherwise be in. Some people hide from cameras, but I seek them out. I’m looking forward to seeing the lovely picture of J.T. & Anne … and ME !

5.  After seeing all of the little kids running around and laughing and yelling and screaming on stage and elsewhere I now have an even bigger appreciation for the fine work that the ‘Kids Life’ leadership does each and every Sunday morning. I don’t know how you all do it, but keep doing it.

Casavana Cuban Cuisine: Back For More

I just spent the past 15 minutes drooling over Casavana’s hot new web site and all of their various detailed menus online. I still haven’t been to this place yet, but after reviewing everything I think that I need to plan to eat Lunch there (perhaps as soon as tomorrow), and definitely Breakfast there (likely as soon as they open their doors at 7 AM this Saturday morning).

I owe it to them for bringing all of this heavy web traffic over here to my blog.
