Communion

Today I got choked-up leading my church family in Communion. It was a spiritual moment. It was an emotional moment. But that’s not why I got choked-up. It was an imperfect human moment at the time.

After I distributed the elements to my church family we took the bread:

“Let us take this bread, and know that it represents the sacred body of Christ that was given up for us on that cross. We take this bread in remembrance of Him.”

I took the bread (looks identical to the photo above), and much of it went down the wrong tubes of my throat. I lost my voice right then and there. The body of Christ had left me speechless. I couldn’t wait to get to the blood of Christ so that I could clear / wash my throat properly. It took me a short little while to get my voice partially back so that I could continue our ceremony:

“Let us take this juice, and know that it represents the precious blood of Christ that was shed for us on that cross. We take this juice in honor of Him.”

My Communion today was based on Acts 26:13-18 when Saul first “met” Jesus, believed in Him, became the Apostle Paul, and began his ministry.

We’ve all got great stories of how we first “met” our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Each and every one of us have a message and a testimony. We are triumphant. We are victorious. We are miracles. We are recipients of God’s grace and mercy.

It’s important that we share our testimony – not just with our brothers and sisters of this church family, but with our neighbors out there who do not yet know the God we know. He commands us to go and tell. That’s what disciples do, and we are all disciples of Christ.

Columbus Day Weekend

It’s the start of a fresh new weekend here on my blog with 4 brand new blog posts – starting with this one. Weekends always start on Thursdays and end on Mondays here at “Saturday Night Retro”.

Monday is Columbus Day here in the U.S., and it’s Thanksgiving Day up in Canada. Enjoy the long weekend and the holiday – wherever you are.

Today after work I’m gonna go see one of the biggest box office comedy smash hits in history – “Crazy Rich Asians“. I’ll be seeing it in its 51ST day of release. Most movies don’t make it past 21 days at the movie theatres. I’ve heard this movie packs in the laughs with a lot of love as well. Sounds like a fun 2 hours !

On Friday I’ll bring the #Retro back to this weekend in 1988. Saturday is my day of rest. I’ll be working on my next sermon – a standalone sermon on Cain (of Cain & Abel fame). My message series on the Book Of James will resume in December or January. I’ll also be working on Communion which I’ll be leading my church family in this Sunday. I’m back with “Sunday Scripture” in the afternoon, and then on Monday it’s my brand new Top 10 weekly hit music chart.

So that’s a preview of my weekend. Thank You for reading or following my blog !

The Major’s Top 10 Hits – Week 85

Every Monday night I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday September 30TH 2018:

  1. “Only Jesus” – Casting Crowns [# 1 last week / 5TH week on chart]
  2. “Who You Say I Am” – Hillsong Worship [2 / 10TH]
  3. “You Say” – Lauren Daigle [8 / 5TH]
  4. “Even Then” – Micah Tyler [4 / 7TH]
  5. “Do It Again” – Elevation Worship [3 / 22ND]
  6. “Wherever I Go” – Dan Bremnes [5 / 13TH]
  7. “Known” – Tauren Wells [6 / 8TH]
  8. “Everything” – TobyMac [7 / 8TH]
  9. “Survivor” – Zach Williams [9 / 2ND]
  10. “Not Today” – Hillsong United [10 / 2ND]

Looks like we’re getting ready to lose Elevation Worship from my chart. Its impressive chart run includes 4 weeks at # 1, 10 weeks at # 2, and 5 weeks at # 3. It’s the # 1 smash of 2018, and (spoiler alert) – it’ll likely still be the # 1 smash of the entire year when I count-up my Top 18 hits of 2018 on a special Tuesday January 01ST 2019 blog post. (That’s exactly 3 months from today.)

I’ll be seeing TobyMac again – LIVE in concert – right here in South Florida this upcoming February. TobyMac was # 1 on my chart on the night that I saw him in concert in Tallahassee in February of 2017. In fact “Love Broke Thru” resurrected and christened this chart as the only song on that very first chart. (The following week my chart expanded to a Top 3 – and then a Top 5 the week after that – and then a Top 10 in its 4TH week.)

This concludes my shortened weekend of 2 blog posts. Next weekend it’s back to 4 blog posts on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest. Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May God bless you – always and forever.

The Major’s Top 10 Hits – Week 84

Every Monday night I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday September 23RD 2018:

  1. “Only Jesus” – Casting Crowns [# 1 last week / 4TH week on chart]
  2. “Who You Say I Am” – Hillsong Worship [3 / 9TH]
  3. “Do It Again” – Elevation Worship [2 / 21ST]
  4. “Even Then” – Micah Tyler [7 / 6TH]
  5. “Wherever I Go” – Dan Bremnes [8 / 12TH]
  6. “Known” – Tauren Wells [4 / 7TH]

  8. “You Say” – Lauren Daigle [9 / 4TH]
  9. “Survivor” – Zach Williams [- / 1ST]
  10. “Not Today” – Hillsong United [- / 1ST]

MercyMe falls off my chart this week with their long-running # 1 smash “Grace Got You”. It spent 24 weeks on my chart – 22 of them within the Top 5. It’s currently the # 2 hit of the entire year thus far. Last year “Even If” went to # 1 and spent 19 weeks on my chart.

Zach Williams returns with his 3RD hit in a row, and they all rhyme – “Old Church Choir”, “Fear Is A Liar”, and “Survivor”. His previous 2 hits made my Top 5. “Survivor” should do the same. I’ll be seeing him LIVE in concert in December !

Hillsong United return with their 3RD hit. Their 1ST hit “Wonder” spent 5 weeks at # 1 last year.

This concludes my 4 blogs this weekend. I’ll be back next weekend with all-new blogs on just Sunday (September 30TH) and Monday (October 01ST).
