Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

This morning at Life Pointe Church in Homestead Florida Lead Pastor Travis wrapped-up our three-week message series on the Old Testament Prophet known as Habakkuk. While most of the Prophets relayed God’s message to the people Habakkuk switched it up and represented the peoples’ message to The Lord Almighty.

When we drift into a crisis of faith or belief – a ‘dip’ if you will – we need to react appropriately to get ourselves out of that dip and back onto the straight and narrow again on His fantastic journey for us. We must remember what He has done for us in the past. We must accept what He is doing for us right now. We must trust what He will do for us in the future. We must believe in Him, for He is the only solution.

Habakkuk (3:17-19, NLT 2ND Ed.)
17
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields,  and the cattle barns are empty,
18  yet I will rejoice in the Lord !  I will be joyful in the God of my salvation !
19  The Sovereign Lord is my strength !  He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.

1.  I arrived at the movie theatre just a few minutes after 7 AM on this glorious Sunday morning here in Homestead Florida, but that wasn’t early enough for my good friend from The Keys – Tom. He was already hard at work and planning a major upgrade of ‘Noah’s Ark’ (where we store a majority of our setup material for the main lobby). The Ark got a fresh new set of wheels this morning and an alignment to boot !  It’s good to go for another 3 miles.

2.  Pastor Travis led us on a journey through Chapter 2 of Habakkuk within the Old Testament. When we’re in ‘the dip’ we need to listen, write, and wait. We must always realize that God’s delays are not his denials. His goodness comes in His time. We must remain patient for it.

Habakkuk (2:1-4)
1  I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the LORD says and how he will answer my complaint.

The LORD’s Second Reply
2  Then the LORD said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
3  This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
4  “Look at the proud !  They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.

3.  Exactly 20 months ago today on the 21ST of January in 2007 I walked through the front doors of Life Pointe Church for the very first time. That was about 5 months into God’s amazing journey for me which started in August of 2006. This journey of 25 months has been mostly up, up, and away beyond my wildest expectations, but there have been a few slight dips along the way. The wonderful feeling that I get when I successfully pull out one of those dips can’t be explained in mere words. Experiencing a dip is normal. Dealing with it requires patience. Coming out of it is the greatest feeling in the world. It is all because of Him. It is all so if you just let Him.

1.  TODAY was our first Sunday morning with our new three-service schedule. I had previously forecasted approximately 35% of our total church attendance to be there bright and early for the 8:30 AM service, and 45% to be fashionably late for the 11:00 AM service. I figured that the middle 9:45 AM service would be the one that would be lightly attended. As it turns out all three services were solid as a rock and rather evenly distributed in attendance. Flagship Cinemas dreams of the number of people that we had in their building this morning during the regular work and school week.

2.  Pastor Travis kicked-off a fresh new message series this morning, and this time we went ‘old school’ with the Old Testament. It’s a three-week study of a cat named Habakkuk. You never heard of him ?  Me either until just recently. He’s an obscure minor prophet – one of the least known of a dozen of them. The Bible shares conversations that he had with God. He’s asking Him all of the tough questions, and he wants answers from The Lord Almighty. He says that God doesn’t seem to care. He says that God isn’t doing much. He says that what God is doing just doesn’t seem fair.

3.  God sees the whole picture. He is the only one who does. That is why He does things His way for His reasons in His own time. It is fine to question God at any time. In fact it is beneficial to do so. That is what a deeply-committed believer in Him does. It’s one who expresses questions for God and faith in Him simultaneously.

1.  Pastor Travis wrapped-up our 3-week ‘Loaded’ message series on this glorious Sunday morning at Life Pointe Church in Homestead Florida. It was all about ‘Eternity’. It starts here.

Proverbs 6:6-8
6  Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!
7  Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work,
8  they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.

Proverbs 21:20
20  The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.

Our decision to be faithful with what we have will determine the level of impact we have on the world.

2.  Next week we kick-off a new message series. You see it every day. Bad people taking advantage of the weak. Good people down on their luck. Innocent people suffering. War. Injustice. Ever get the feeling God isn’t fair ?  Discover how an Old Testament prophet can inspire a modern day faith in God’s promises. Habakkuk.

Starts Next Sunday Morning At Life Pointe Church !

The hot Starbucks coffee and the fresh bagels and cream cheese ?  It’s on us !  Brush your teeth, grab your crew, stuff them in to your soccer-mom minivan, and head on over to Homestead’s movie theatre next Sunday morning. You won’t regret it pal.
