Sunday Scripture

TODAY with my (Living Waters) church family our Lead Pastor Bob continued his message series on “The Road To Heaven”. Today’s sermon was on “The Three Women Of The Book Of Revelation” with Scripture not from Revelation – but from the Book of Esther – 1:19, 2:5-6, 3:1, and 5:1-3.

The Book of Esther takes place for about 21 years during her reign as Queen of Persia from 486 B.C. to 465 B.C. That’s exactly 100 years after my sermon from last week – “Neco & Nebuchadnezzar” – ended at (with the final fall of the Kingdom of Judah).

At that time there was a Jewish man in the fortress of Susa whose name was Mordecai – son of Jair. He was from the tribe of Benjamin and was a descendant of Kish and Shimei. His family had been among those who – with King Jehoiachin of Judah – had been exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. (Esther 2:5-6 NLT)

King Jehoiachin was the second-to-last King of Judah before its final fall in 586 B.C. His grandfather was the good King Josiah. He became King at the age of 18, and he was King for just 3 months in 597 B.C. before King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took King Jehoiachin prisoner and led him away as a captive to Babylon. Mordecai’s ancestors were part of the group of thousands that were taken into captivity to Babylon.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2009

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 10 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday September 06TH 2009:

  1. “Where To Start” – Philmont
  2. “Forget And Not Slow Down” – Relient K
  3. “Open Season” – Air Five
  4. “We Can Try” – Between The Trees
  5. “Code Name: Raven” – House Of Heroes

What can I say about Relient K. They were one of my favorite bands during the Salvation Era of my chart from 2006 to 2010. They scored with 8 hits on my chart, and the first one – “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” – actually broke onto my chart before I was rescued and saved by Christ !  You may remember back towards the end of 2005 when it crossed-over onto Mainstream Top 40 radio and became a Top 25 hit. It was also a U.S. Gold smash – having sold over 500,000 copies.

Relient K wouldn’t cross-over much more onto the Mainstream Top 40 radio scene; however, “Forget And Not Slow Down” – # 2 exactly 10 years ago on my chart – did manage significant radio airplay on some pop stations particularly in the center of the nation and some southern markets.

Of course the lyrics of every Relient K song meant a lot to me once my salvation in Christ had started – even (and especially) their debut smash – “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been”.

I’m sorry for – the person I became
I’m sorry that – it took so long for me to change
I’m ready to – try and never become that way again
‘Cause who I am hates who I’ve been
Who I am hates who I’ve been

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

My Top 10 Hits – Summer Of 2019

15 weekly hit music charts and 24 positive and encouraging hits (same as last Summer) have created this cumulative hit music chart of my Top 10 hits of the Summer Of 2019 based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – from Memorial Day Weekend (last Sunday of May) to Labor Day Weekend (first Sunday of September):

  1. “Raise A Hallelujah” – Bethel Music
  2. “Resurrecting” – Elevation Worship
  3. “Prize Worth Fighting For” – Jamie Kimmett
  4. “Till I Found You” – Phil Wickham
  5. “Church (Take Me Back)” – Cochren & Co.
  6. “Greater Things” – Mack Brock
  7. “Symphony” – Switch
  8. “Born Again” – Austin French
  9. “Is He Worthy” – Chris Tomlin
  10. “Nobody (But Jesus)” – Casting Crowns Ft. Matthew West

Elevation Worship owned last summer’s # 1 smash with “Do It Again”, and they nearly did it again with this summer’s smash, “Resurrecting”. It fell 10 points shy of the # 1 spot for this summer.

Matthew West was # 5 last Summer with “All In”, and his collaboration with Casting Crowns was my 10TH biggest hit of this Summer.

It’s 2 in a row for Chris Tomlin as well. “Resurrection Power” was # 6 last Summer.

Unlike last Summer no song spent all 15 weeks of Summer on my chart. Elevation Worship’s “Do It Again” did it last Summer, and their “Resurrecting” came the closest this Summer with 14 out of 15 weeks on my chart.

Years from now when I look back at this chart I’ll remember the good times that I enjoyed during these 100 days of summer. This was the soundtrack of my summer.

If you’re not familiar with one or any of these songs then use Google or YouTube to check them out. Enjoy the music, but listen to the words. The words of these songs represent God’s Word. Any one of these songs can change your life forever. God used music to rescue and save me from the darkness during the Summer Of 2006.

He has given me a new song to sing – a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what He has done, and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD. (Psalm 40:3 NLT)

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him.

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday September 01ST 2019:

    [# 1 last week / 5TH week on chart]
  2. “Fear No More” – Building 429 [2 / 5TH]
  3. “Dead Man Walking” – Jeremy Camp [6 / 7TH]
  4. “Raise A Hallelujah” – Bethel Music [3 / 13TH]
  5. “Symphony” – Switch [4 / 13TH]
  6. “I’m Gonna Let It Go” – Jason Gray [5 / 4TH]

  8. “Yes I Will” – Vertical Worship [9 / 3RD]
  9. “Good Grace” – Hillsong UNITED [- / 1ST]
  10. “Power” – We Are Messengers [10 / 2ND]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Who You Say I Am” – Hillsong Worship

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Broken Things” – Matthew West

Casting Crowns are still at # 1 for a 2ND week in a row. I believe that it’s at the start of a long run at the top of my chart. Their “Only Jesus” spent 10 weeks at # 1 starting a year ago next week, and that carried them deep into November.

“Nobody (But Jesus)” has also clinched a spot on tomorrow’s special blog post and chart featuring my Top 10 hits of the Summer of 2019 – from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It’s my Top 10 hits based on my 15 weekly charts this Summer. That drops at 3 AM EDT on Tuesday right here.

Moving up a notch this week to # 8 is the debut smash (on my chart) from Vertical Worship out of Chicago. “Yes I Will” is from their 6TH album titled, “Bright Faith Bold Future” (released about 17 months ago). The single was released last year, and it started to impact Christian pop radio about 7 months ago. It’s currently approaching the Top 10 nationally, and it’s slowly inching-up my chart too. It’s really growing on me. I’m starting to sing along to it when I hear it on the radio. Here’s its official music video:
