This past Sunday night I was among 13,000+ brothers and sisters of a MASSIVE church family at the BB&T Center in Sunrise Florida. It was a wonderful 3½-hour show, as we praised and worshiped our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ in unison.

Elevation Worship kicked-off the show with a 7-song setlist including their 4 big radio hits of the past couple of years, “O Come To The Altar”, “Do It Again”, “Resurrecting”, and “Echo”. This is actually the 2ND time that I’ve sung along to “Do It Again” LIVE in concert. Mack Brock (former lead singer of Elevation Worship and cowriter of the song) performed it LIVE on his tour with Hillsong United this past May. Fun Fact:  “Do It Again” is the # 1 smash out of 136 hits since this current “K-LOVE Era” of my chart began in February 2017.

Hillsong Worship were up next with an 8-song setlist. Of the 3 bands on the stage that night I was least familiar with their music, but I surely knew “Who You Say I Am” and “What A Beautiful Name” – both # 1 hits at Christian pop radio. They also performed “Mighty To Save” which I know more from Praise & Worship at my own local church than I do as a Hillsong Worship song.

Following an inspirational message leading-in to a Compassion International fundraising event and a brief intermission after that – Casting Crowns – led by Mark Hall – took to the stage, and they performed 10 hits in a row – nearly all of which I knew !  “Only Jesus” kicked-off their hitlist. It’s the longest-running # 1 smash (at 10 weeks) during this current era of my chart. “Thrive” (surprisingly) got a huge response. “Nobody (But Jesus)” was their encore song, and deservedly so. It’s the track that everyone was waiting for. All of my brothers and sisters were clapping along and singing together loudly and proudly. Chris Brown – lead singer of Elevation Worship – came out and performed the Matthew West part of the song, and he sounded just like Matthew West too. During the Megan Garrett part of the song all of the members of Elevation Worship and Hillsong Worship joined Casting Crowns together for a grande family finale.

As 13,000+ poured out of the arena into the South Florida darkness we were all singing bits and pieces of “Nobody (But Jesus)” – shining God’s light for all to see.

♫ ‘Cause I’m just a nobody – trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody – who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me – You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus ♫

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend (starting in just 48 hours) – with 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2004

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday November 07TH 2004:

  1. “Lose My Breath” – Destiny’s Child
  2. “Over And Over (Again)” – Nelly Ft. Tim McGraw
  3. “Dare You To Move” – Switchfoot
  4. “I Don’t Want To Be” – Gavin DeGraw
  5. “Breakaway” – Kelly Clarkson

15 years ago this weekend Switchfoot were trying to tell me all about God, but I wasn’t really listening to the lyrics. I was rockin’ out to the melody. That was 21½ months before salvation began for me. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ dared me to move. He dared me to lift myself up off the floor – out of the pit of despair – out of the mud and the mire – and reach for Him. I did. It was a new day – a day that never happened before. A day that I never imagined before. Salvation began on that day. That was the start of my fantastic journey, and it’s in the lyrics:

♫ Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself ?
Where you gonna go ?
Where you gonna go ?
Salvation is here !

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself
To lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before ♫

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with 3 more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Enjoy this long holiday weekend here in the U.S.A. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

A couple of noteworthy anniversaries related to this weekly hit music chart:

  • 4 weeks from now will mark the 34TH anniversary of my very first printed hit music chart. This hobby goes back over 40 years into the late-1970s, but it wasn’t until the week ending November 30TH 1985 when I actually wrote down via paper, pen, and pencil my personal favorite songs of the week. (Starship’s “We Built This City” was my first # 1 smash.)
  • This upcoming week marks 27 years since that very first era of my hit music chart came to an end. (Toad The Wet Sprocket’s “All I Want” was my 174TH and final # 1 smash of that initial 7-year era.)
  • This past week marks 24 years since my hit music chart came back to life for a 2ND run that lasted over 14 years. (Gin Blossoms’ “Til I Hear It From You” was my 175TH and first # 1 smash of that 2ND 14-year era.)

And so here we are on this 142ND week of this 3RD era of my hit music chart – the continuation of a hobby that goes all the way back to when I was in elementary school. Nowadays I share my love for Christian Contemporary music on the radio. That is – pop songs about God – performed by believers and followers of God. This is part of my online ministry. My vision statement is “Sharing God’s Good News through His music”. If you’re not familiar with one or more of the songs identified above then I encourage you to look them up on Google or YouTube, and listen to them. I think you’ll hear God’s voice in the music.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – with 5 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday, and a special bonus post on Tuesday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2009

WELCOME TO NOVEMBER !  It’s my favorite month of the year for a bunch of reasons, and I’m looking forward to the next 30 days of family, fellowship, food, and fun.

Yesterday I went RETRO all the way back exactly 55 years ago to October 31ST 1964 with a captivating performance of “Monster Mash” from Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett. I had never seen that performance before until I compiled that post.

Some fun facts – Bobby was 26 – almost 27-years-old when he did that. He was 24 when the song hit # 1. He actually had a comedy nightclub act in Hollywood where he did a lot of similar impressions of stars from horror movies. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army from age 18 to 21.

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 10 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday November 01ST 2009:

  1. “Forget And Not Slow Down” – Relient K
  2. “Rolling With The Punches” – Ruth
  3. “Trying” – Eleventyseven
  4. “Where To Start” – Philmont
  5. “You’re A Fake” – I Am Empire

A decade ago right here on this blog I posted a regular feature under the banner of “My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics” where I testified God’s Word using the lyrics of a popular song at the time. This is from the October 21ST 2009 edition of my blog where I used the lyrics of “You’re A Fake” from I Am Empire:

If you ever think that nobody loves you – then think again – and think long and hard about this fact, for this is about as real as it gets. God loves you. He loves you more than you can ever imagine. He loves you more than you can ever love Him back. You will never ever in your entire lifetime love Him more than He loves you right now. It is as simple, honest, and real as it gets. You can experience this true love right now – by simply believing in Him. Love Him more than any one – more than any thing. Love Him overwhelmingly. Love Him like your Life depends on it – because it does. Just walk away from everything you were. Believe. Love. It’s in the lyrics.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !
