Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

Misfortune Cookie

– This morning I attended the Peking campus of Life Pointe Church.
– We had Chinese Restaurant music playing in the background.
– We served crunchy noodles and hot tea at our Peking Cafe.
– Kelly D. hosted during the first service.
– Maybe some day I can host a service.
Lead Pastor Travis J. returned with normal lips.
– The godliness of good people rescues them;
– The ambition of treacherous people traps them.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
– Don’t let your money master you.
– Master your money.
– Lord, let me honour You first !
– What good does it do to gain the whole world but to lose our souls ?
– Our tithes and offerings are NOT payment for services rendered.
– They are NOT our dues necessary to belong to a church family.
– God created us with a purpose.
– We should give to the Kingdom – on purpose.
– We should give the very best of who we are.
– True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long Life.
– Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you.

This week’s message was based on the following Scriptures out of the Good News:  Deuteronomy 14:23, Galatians 6:9, Hebrews 13:5, James 4:8, Luke 16:11, Malachi 3:10, Proverbs 3:9-10, Proverbs 11:6, Proverbs 13:11, Proverbs 21:5, Proverbs 22:4, Proverbs 23:23, Proverbs 27:23-24, Psalm 37:5, Psalm 37:21, Romans 7:17-20.

NEXT WEEK I won’t be at the Homestead campus of Life Pointe Church. I’ll be out-of-town on the left coast of Florida attending a church service outside in a park in Naples. The night before that I’ll be at a church in Lehigh Acres attending a rock concert hosted by Casey W. and headlined by Manic Drive. Nearly 33 months ago I attended a rock concert sponsored by The Call, hosted by Casey, and headlined by Manic Drive – at the original Life Pointe Church building in Homestead. The very next morning I went to church for the first time in over 30 years.

My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics

This week on ‘My Fantastic Journey’ it’s the New Orleans area rock band 12 Stones with their Summer of 2007 Christian and Secular rock radio smash “Lie To Me”. It’s from their gold-certified album “Anthem For The Underdog” with songs that were inspired by the devastating effects of and slow recovery from Hurricane Katrina on their hometown. The weather destroyed God’s great creations – just as people of the world can do – but that doesn’t mean that after a period of anger and resentment there can’t be daylight and victory in the end. Sometimes there’s nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, but if you’re not searching for the hope of the daylight then you may never find it in the end. It is worth it in the end. Oh sweet redemption !

It’s in the lyrics:

Psalm 49
1  Listen to this, all you people! Pay attention, everyone in the world!
2  High and low, rich and poor—listen!
3  For my words are wise, and my thoughts are filled with insight.
4  I listen carefully to many proverbs and solve riddles with inspiration from a harp.
5  Why should I fear when trouble comes, when enemies surround me?
6  They trust in their wealth and boast of great riches.
7  Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God.
8  Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can ever pay enough
9  to live forever and never see the grave.
10  Those who are wise must finally die, just like the foolish and senseless, leaving all their wealth behind.
11  The grave is their eternal home, where they will stay forever. They may name their estates after themselves,
12  but their fame will not last. They will die, just like animals.
13  This is the fate of fools, though they are remembered as being wise.
14  Like sheep, they are led to the grave, where death will be their shepherd. In the morning the godly will rule over them. Their bodies will rot in the grave, far from their grand estates.
15  But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave.
16  So don’t be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid.
17  For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave.
18  In this life they consider themselves fortunate and are applauded for their success.
19  But they will die like all before them and never again see the light of day.
20  People who boast of their wealth don’t understand; they will die, just like animals.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

Misfortune Cookie

– This morning I attended the Shanghai campus of Life Pointe Church.
– We had Chinese Restaurant music playing in the background.
– I caught Nancy L. dancing to it, and Kelly D. and Ritz C. cheering her on.
– We served crunchy noodles and hot tea at our Shanghai Cafe.
– Meanwhile European techno music played just before Praise & Worship.
– I nearly got up and danced with fluorescent glow sticks.
Kelly J. hosted during the first service.
– Be sure to check out her ‘Sunday CHICK-Kabob’ within the next few days.
Pastor Jesse led this week’s message – substituting for the ailing Travis.
– Travis lived up to his reputation as the ‘Pastor Of Disaster’.
– This week’s message was titled – ‘Won Ton Words That Win Friends’.
– A friend is someone who knows your past and believes in your future.
– He or she accepts you just the way that you are and doesn’t try to change you.
– He or she understands your areas of weakness and helps you conquer them.
– He or she doesn’t give up on you when it becomes inconvenient.
– The Bible: A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
– What you say to a friend is important, but how you say it is also critical.
– It’s not good enough to simply coast along with your friends.
– It is healthy to have conflict with your friends, but move beyond it.
– Be enriched by the conflict, and learn life’s lessons from it.
– Don’t tell me what I want to hear – tell me what I need to hear.
– Don’t be a mere acquaintance, as those are a dime a dozen.
– Be a friend and save a Life when your friend has a crisis.
– Show up and be there physically for your friend’s pain.
– Share your friend’s pain.
– Support your friend with prayer because the Holy Spirit can stop the pain.
– Help your friend with forgiveness.
– Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.
– Be brutally honest with your friend and accept reality – accept The Truth.
– Strengthen your friend with total faith in God.
– Speak hope with your friend, for anything is possible with Our Father God.

Proverbs 27 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
2  Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth – a stranger, not your own lips.
6  Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.
9  The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.
10  Never abandon a friend – either yours or your father’s. When disaster strikes, you won’t have to ask your brother for assistance. It’s better to go to a neighbor than to a brother who lives far away.
17  As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

Be sure to hang out with this blog during this upcoming week. I’ve got new posts every single day including the long-running ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’ and the spontaneous ‘Thursday Night Mini Thoughts’. Until we meet again – be a friend.
