Bedtime Stories

Pastor’s Business Card

A new Pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door.

He took out a business card, and wrote ‘Revelation 3:20’ on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, ‘Genesis 3:10’.

Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.

Revelation 3:20:
‘Look !  I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.’

Genesis 3:10:
He replied, ‘I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.’

My friend Nancy sent that to me earlier tonight via E-Mail, and I laughed hysterically at it for about a minute. I pretty much knew that I had my ‘Bedtime Story’ for tonight right there. I hope that it made you laugh as well.

May you have a safe and peaceful Sunday night, and I’ll catch you right back here on this blog tomorrow (Monday) for some more fun and surprises.

Until then remember this:

Like a good neighbour State Farm is there.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

1.  Black, Navy Blue, and Burgundy – Those are the three colours of the covers of the 122 Bibles that we had available on our brand new Bible Table that we setup just outside of the pier door. You don’t have a Bible ?  You grab a Bible. It’s that simple, and it’s compliments of Life Pointe Church.

2.  The Setup team had the main lobby of the movie theatre transformed into the main lobby of our church in less than 45 minutes this morning. Everyone knew what to do, and it got done just like that. We’re good like that.

3.  I met a nice lady this morning who works the Kids’ Life registration table. As it turns out she lives right across the street from Pastor Travis, and she’s only been a part of our church family for a little over a month. She started serving on our Hospitality team virtually immediately. Now that’s someone who wasted no time at all to become ‘Fully Engaged’ with our church family. That’s what it’s all about.

4.  It’s one thing to attend one of our two services and be served every Sunday morning. It’s another thing to serve on our Hospitality team. There is no waiting list to join. There should be no hesitation to be an integral part of our team. All you need to do is show up early before the start of the 9 AM service or stay later after the completion of the 10:30 AM service. Just be there. There’s plenty of work and fellowship for all to go around.

5.  We had a special guest speaker for both services this morning. Pastor Chris (that sounds so cool) kicked-off our brand new ‘Fully Engaged’ message series with a rather difficult subject to discuss – money. It was all about being ‘Fully Vested’, and honouring God with the first 10% of our income. All of our resources that we frequently take for granted comes from God. He is the source of them all. Giving to God helps us to clarify our priorities in Life, and He should always be Priority # 1. We should always remind ourselves that we have enough.
