Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. I’m back for another 3 blog posts today, tomorrow, and Tuesday. It’s a 5-blog post weekend for this U.S. holiday weekend – Presidents’ Day Weekend here stateside.

In just a couple of weeks I’ll be praising, worshiping, and celebrating our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ with 5,000+ fellow pastors, preachers, ministers, and disciples of Christ up in Orlando at Exponential. We’ll come together in unison to be encouraged, trained, and equipped to make a Kingdom impact. I was part of Exponential 2008 less than 2 years after the start of my salvation, and it changed my fantastic journey forever. I haven’t been back since, so this upcoming conference has been 12 years in the making !

Today at Living Waters (my local church body) we came together for a morning of worship. Our Lead Pastor continued his “Noah” message series, and he reminded us that faith (unmerited favor) comes from grace. Without God’s grace – there is no faith. God gave us the gift of grace, and we are saved by grace, but He does not want us to keep that grace to ourselves. He wants us to extend that grace to others.

Ephesians 2-8-9

God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this – it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT)

Extend God’s grace to others. Pray for others. Share the God you know with others. It could change their lives forever.

There may be someone you know who is waiting for you to introduce them to your Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. What are you waiting on ?  Go forth !

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2005

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday February 13TH 2005:

  1. “1, 2 Step” – Ciara Ft. Missy Elliott
  2. “Beautiful Soul” – Jesse McCartney
  3. “True” – Ryan Cabrera
  4. “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” – Green Day
  5. “Since U Been Gone” – Kelly Clarkson

Green Day scored with 5 hits on my chart from 1996 to 2005 (when I compiled and published online a secular hit music chart each week under my former pseudonym “Major Hitwaves” / “The Major”).

“Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” was their 3RD hit, and while it’s only been 15 years since it played every 3 hours or less on the radio I couldn’t remember how it sounded. So I did what most people do. I went to YouTube, and I watched the music video. It all came back to me again. It sounded good – just as I remembered it – a rock-solid pop song. In fact it was a multi-format crossover smash that appealed to listeners of rock radio, Top 40 radio, and even Hot Adult Contemporary radio.

I’ll probably purchase and add this track to my iPod Shuffle playlist. It does bring back some not-so-good memories of a rather forgettable year – 2005 – but the past is what it is, and it got so much better and brighter just 18 months later. #Salvation

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with 3 more blog posts for this U.S. holiday weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

Here – Eat This !

Last Saturday morning with chilly temperatures for South Florida (low-to-mid-60s) I enjoyed about a 3-hour visit to the local Fruit & Spice Park. They claim to be the only park of its kind in the continental U.S. It was my 4TH visit ever, and my 2ND visit in 10½ months. I got in for free because I’m a member. (I bought a $25 annual pass last March.)

I toured the Park for a good 90 minutes, and I walked almost exactly 2½ miles. After that I hopped on the tram (pulled by a John Deere tractor) for a fun 1-hour and 15-minute tour of much of the Park that I had just walked, but this time narrated by a 21-year-old expert. He made many stops along the way treating us with exotic fruit samples, edible leaves and flowers, and other leaves for us to smell. Here at the Park you can’t pull anything off of any trees. Only the tour guide can do that. Any fruit that has already fallen to the ground is yours to claim !

After the tram tour I stepped in to their small café, and I enjoyed a hot and delicious Cuban sandwich (served panini style) and a cold and refreshing banana milkshake. Good Stuff my friends !  Little did I know that later that same day and into the night my stomach would become bloated and somewhat painful. I ended up calling it an earlier than normal night knowing that the bloat and pain would eventually dissipate in my sleep – or I would be rudely awaken early the next morning with botulism. I’m blaming it all on those 25 or so edible leaves that I consumed – particularly the bright yellow ones.

Incidentally I awoke the next (Sunday) morning feeling great. The pain went away in my sleep.

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Maybe It’s OK” – We Are Messengers

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Gracefully Broken” – Matt Redman Ft. Tasha Cobbs Leonard

Matthew West scores his 2ND # 1 smash as a solo artist on my chart and 3RD including his part as a featured player with Casting Crowns in “Nobody (But Jesus)”. “The God Who Stays” is my 45TH # 1 smash. The one song from Matthew West that didn’t hit # 1 – hit # 2 (“All In”). I’m looking forward to seeing Casting Crowns and Matthew West LIVE in concert – at the same concert in April. Matthew opens for Casting Crowns, and then he obviously closes with them to perform “Nobody (But Jesus)”. I’ve never seen Matthew before in concert.

And with this week’s chart I conclude 3 years – 156 weeks – in this current era. Next weekend I’ll celebrate the 3RD anniversary of the resurrection of this chart and my 3RD anniversary as a listener and supporter of K-LOVE. The 4TH year begins with an all-new Top 10 chart on Monday as well as a special cumulative Top 20 chart on Tuesday – my Top 20 hits of the past 3 years !

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – with 5 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday, and YES – Tuesday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. I’m also on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL.

Enjoy this new week my friends !  May the God of hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him.
