Greetings my friends. It is Sunday March 15TH 2026, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

“Following God In The Military”
Can one serve in the military and still be a believer and follower of God ?
My answer is “Yes – Of course.”
Nowhere in God’s Word does it prohibit military service. Soldiers are represented well in the Bible. In Luke’s Gospel – John The Baptist tells local Jewish soldiers under the authority of Herod Antipas to “don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay.” He doesn’t tell them to stop serving. He tells them to serve with honesty and integrity.
But what about the King James Bible that includes the phrase “do violence to no man” in that same Scripture ? In proper context – John The Baptist’s advice to the soldiers is to not abuse power and engage in extortion to receive money. It’s about being righteous while serving.
That’s great advice for today’s military. Serve with integrity, and don’t abuse your power. Serve God before man. I know – that can be difficult in the military. It’s difficult out of the military too. Some Christians in the military believe that their service conflicts with God’s call to love everyone.
I served via active-duty from 1985 to 1993 – long before I ever knew who God was. And then I worked for the USAF for the next 31 years after that. I answered to civilian supervisors and military commanders alike. At one of the lowest points of my 39-year USAF career (and life in general) in 2006 – God rescued and saved me. Salvation started. The military led me to Christ. If it weren’t for 12 mostly miserable years working for the USAF (leading to rock-bottom in 2006) – I probably wouldn’t be where I am today – writing to you every Sunday about God.
I served my final 17½ years for the USAF as a Christ believer and follower, and it was the greatest 17½ years of my entire 39-year career.
My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.
If you wish to learn more about the God I know – then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !
Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:
The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.
