Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

If I don’t offend someone with at least one of these thoughts – then I didn’t do a very good job getting my thoughts across.

Let’s kick it.

1.  When things go horribly wrong in your life it’s just so very easy to wave the white flag of surrender and blame President Bush and The Republicans for all of your personal problems rather than take full responsibility for your own actions past and present. In 2011 two years into a possible President Obama administration are you still going to blame President Bush for all of your problems when things don’t get any better for you ?

2.  I saw “An American Carol” at the box office yesterday afternoon. It’s a box office flop, so I literally had to rush to the movie theatre to see it before it disappeared. It’s also a so-called ‘radical-right-wing’ movie out of Hollywood – truly an extreme rarity. The movie is chock-full of actors who have generally been blacklisted from Hollywood due to their open conservative Republican viewpoints.

3.  I think that my Doctor of the past several years has retired, or moved away, or died. I have no idea where my medical records have gone. I’ve been without my Lipitor for at least 5 weeks now. I need to find a new Family Practice Doctor here in Homestead. Does anyone have any suggestions for me ?

4.  I don’t watch crime dramas on TV; however, I plan to check out “Life On Mars” this Thursday night on ABC-TV. It’s about this 2008 New York City cop that gets in to a horrible accident that knocks him out. When he comes to he wakes up in dark and gloomy New York City in 1973. He’s stuck there, and he struggles to solve crimes with antiquated 1973 technology – always hoping to get back home again to 2008.

5.  So far this year I’ve only talked on my cell phone for about 142 minutes. That’s an average of a little more than 15 minutes per month (or 30 seconds per day). Most people I know surpass the 15-minute mark on their cell phone on the 1ST day of the month at around 12:15 AM !

THANK YOU for allowing me to share my thoughts with you.

Homestead Pavilion

Introducing … Sports Authority to Homestead !  The Grand Opening is scheduled for Friday October 17TH 2008; however, keep checking that store (at the Homestead Pavilion) in the days leading up to that official opening date because they may very well do a soft opening to test various systems out.

Wanna work there ?  Go here.

Kohl’s is open early. According to their official web site they open at 8 AM Monday to Friday, 7 AM on Saturday, and 9 AM on Sunday. Shop early to avoid the crowds !

Monday Night Countdown

In a wink and a nod to an over 30-year weekly passion of mine (tracking and compiling hit music charts) I present to you my current TOP 5 favourite songs – for the week ending Sunday October 05TH 2008:

5.  Sleeping In – Nevertheless
It’s pure sugary pop like only these 5 cats from Chattanooga Tennessee can deliver. I’ve liked every single radio song that they’ve released ever since I’ve been on this fantastic journey with them.

4.  Undercover – Deas Vail
I like the cool sound and the mellow feel of this power pop band out of northwestern Arkansas. They almost sound European. ‘Deas Vail’ means ‘humble servant of God’. Truly so. Amen.

3.  Stop It – The Almost
It’s the 4TH hit single in a row from Aaron Gillespie (the drummer from Underoath), and it’s his follow-up to “Say This Sooner”, “Amazing (Because It Is)”, and “Southern Weather”.

2.  Put Your Lips To The TV – Project 86
These hard rockin’ dudes have been together for over a decade of destruction, and this runaway track is one of their hardest to date. Listen to the lyrics. The devil wants their ‘head in a basket’ and ‘on a platter’, but it ain’t gonna happen my friend. ‘You can kiss me goodbye’. You ain’t reaching me no more.

1.  The Sky – Showbread
DUDE !  I totally dig this hardcore smash !  It totally rocks my face off, and although it would so totally frighten anyone at Life Pointe Church over the age of 40 45 I’m still playing it as part of my eclectic playlist out in the main lobby on Youth Service Sundays !  HECKZZZ YEAHZZZ !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

Now Showing At Life Pointe Church
Now Showing At Life Pointe Church

We began a fresh new 5-week message series on this glorious Sunday morning at Life Pointe Church. Entitled ‘The Art Of War’ it’s all about living a ‘no prisoners’ life. It’s all about moving forward in Life. But it’s not going to happen overnight. You’ve got to plan ahead for this. You need ‘strategery’.

This morning Lead Pastor Travis walked us through Stage 1 of this war. It’s all about creating alliances. We are to conquer, subdue, and tame our world. But we can’t do it alone. We must carefully create alliances or covenant relationships with like people in order to successfully take dominion over our earth.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
The Temple Of The Living God
14
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness ?  How can light live with darkness ?
15  What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil ?  How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever ?
16  And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols ?  For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:
      “I will live in them
          and walk among them.
       I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
17  Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.
18  And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.”

As of press time this afternoon Jesse and Alex had already posted their respective Sunday morning wrap-ups. Be sure to check back later on for more wrap-ups from T.J., P.J., K.J., and R.C. Yay fellow bloggers !
