Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday November 08TH 2026, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

Volume 9, Number 37, Edition 437
“Wrath”

As I continue my series on the seven deadly sins – it’s time to confront wrath. Most of us know it all too well. It can quickly hijack our hearts if it’s left unchecked.

“I am so totally done listening to your lame excuses. You have lied to my face for the very last time. You have ruined everything we have built. I hope you lose every single thing you care about. I will make sure everyone knows exactly what kind of person you really are. I will never ever forgive you for this. Get out of my life forever !”

It’s a desire to inflict harm or revenge. It’s a loss of self-control. It reflects destructive intent. It’s unforgiveness. It’s wrath.

Scripture makes a clear distinction between the righteous anger that responds to injustice – and the destructive and out-of-control wrath that stems from pride, hurt, or a desire for revenge.

Refrain from anger and turn from wrath. Do not fret – it leads only to evil. (Psalm 37‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you – along with all malice. (Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭31‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Unchecked anger acts like an out-of-control wildfire. It burns away our peace, damages our relationships, and disrupts our walk with God.

To live in the freedom that Christ promises – we must learn to surrender our resentment and trust God to be our defender while allowing His Holy Spirit to produce patience, gentleness, and self-control within us.

Let’s pray: Thank You Lord for Your peace in our hearts today. Forgive us for the times we allow anger to turn into bitterness, resentment, or a desire for revenge. Guard our hearts against the destructive pull of wrath. When we are hurt, wronged, or provoked – help us to pause, breathe, and yield our tempers to Your Holy Spirit before we speak or act. Strip away any hostility within us, and replace it with Your patience, kindness, and grace. Help us to trust You as our protector while granting us the strength to forgive as Christ forgave us. In Your powerful and holy name we pray. Amen.
