Sunday Scripture

10 years ago I was a fan of the band Children 18:3. They are still around today after 20 years. They are a hardcore Christian punk band (not suitable for everyone) that rocked my face off during the early part of my fantastic journey – back when I was a baby Christian in my early-40s. (Nowadays I listen to slower more mellower Christian pop music. See K-LOVE.)

Children 18:3 music figured prominently in a recent rare nap that I enjoyed on my living room couch. The siblings (2 brothers and a sister) got their name from Matthew 18:3:

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. Unless you turn from your sins and become like little children – you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven …

Matthew 18:4 continues on:

… So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Just before my recent rare nap that I enjoyed I had finished writing my next sermon that I hope to preach to my church family soon titled, “Humble & Gentle”. (It’s based on James 3:7-18 which continues my year-long message series on the Book of James.)

If you read today’s daily devotional in Upper Room – it’s based on – that’s right – Matthew 18:3.

Coincidences ?  No. God doesn’t do coincidences. God’s work is always intentional. On this day God reminded me that I will always be a child of God – no matter how old I am – no matter how many years I’ve been rescued and saved by God. My brothers and sisters. Believers, followers, disciples, teachers, and leaders – we are all children of God – and Our Father – who art in Heaven – is watching over us at all times from up above. As long as we’re here on Earth walking, talking, and breathing – may we always see the world around us through the eyes of a child – never judging – always loving. May we always be “Humble & Gentle”.

But to all who believed Him and accepted Him – He gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT)

Sunday Scripture

At the start of every Sunday morning service at Living Waters we celebrate The Lord with “Praise & Worship” to Him. We sing 4 contemporary worship songs together. At the conclusion of the first song I take a front-and-center position to welcome my brothers and sisters of my church family to another beautiful Sunday morning experience. I also read a Psalm of celebration (a different one each week).

This morning I read the first 3 verses of the 34TH Psalm:

I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak His praises. I will boast only in the LORD. Let all who are helpless take heart. Come – let us tell of the LORD’s greatness. Let us exalt His name together.

And the Psalm is always followed-up with Psalm 118:24:

… For this is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice, and be glad in it.

And then I invite my church family to continue our praise, our worship, our celebration of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ as our Praise & Worship leaders segue into the second song.

Praise & Worship is my favorite part of the Sunday morning service, and opening our service in that manner each week seems to be working out pretty good. God is Glorified with each verse of His voice in each song. We sing for God !  We exalt His name together !

My Fantastic Journey: 12TH Anniversary

This weekend I celebrate the 12TH Anniversary of my fantastic journey. My salvation began without warning. It wasn’t planned. I didn’t see it coming. But there it was. I was being rescued and saved from the darkness, and I didn’t even realize it – in the beginning. (It took me a few weeks to figure out God’s miracles for me.)

Early in the morning towards the latter part of August of 2006 during a typical 7¼-mile drive from home to work (in Homestead Florida) I flipped the radio dial off of Y-100 (Mainstream / Secular TOP 40) and I randomly discovered CALL-FM (Christian TOP 40).

Little did I know that such a mundane moment as changing the radio station in my car would signal the beginning of God’s Fantastic Journey for me. Little did I know that my previous life was about to come to a gradual end. Little did I know that I was about to be saved and reborn onto a new Life.

For you have been born again. Your new Life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new Life will last forever because it comes from the eternal living word of God. As the prophet says, “People are like grass that dies away. Their beauty fades as quickly as the beauty of wildflowers. The grass withers, and the flowers fall away. But the Word of the Lord will last forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you. (1 Peter 1:23-25 NLT)

On that morning when salvation began – Jonah33’s “Desensitized” rocked my radio:

I’m growing numb.
But what is wrong, and what is right ?
When did I start to lose this fight ?
Somehow I lost track of who you are.

I’m so amazed at what sin’s become.
I’m so ashamed that I’ve grown so numb.
Somehow I became desensitized.
I don’t want to be desensitized.
