No Politics Zone

I voted by mail last weekend. I’ve been voting by mail for many years now – ever since I realized that it was an option in my local area. I receive my ballot up to a month in advance, and I study the people and the issues that are on the ballot in the privacy of my own home on my own time.

I never discuss politics publicly – whether it’s on social media or in-person. I believe that if I know who you voted for, who you plan to vote for, who you love, who you hate, and if you voted “yes” or “no” on an issue – then I know way too much about you. I don’t want to know any of that information about you.

Broadcast and Cable TV News is extremely biased nowadays across the board since it’s very easy to know exactly what political affiliation most hosts and anchors are just by watching them report their version of the news and current events. Fact-based newscasts and daily, nightly, and Sunday morning news shows are few and far-between. Most are overwhelmingly opinion-based.

Almost a year ago I ended nearly 5 years on Facebook because it became so over-the-top political – by my own “friends” on there. I still go on Facebook throughout a typical day for a few minutes at a time. I’m pretty much looking for encouragement and inspiration on there, as well as a few laughs. After a few minutes I’ve had enough of everyone’s political opinions.

I know I just wrote this blog post on politics in general, but this blog really is a “No Politics Zone”. The same is true for my Twitter and Flickr feeds. Here on my blog I mostly write about God and music. I write about the music that I liked from my childhood through my late-30s, and I write about the music that God has introduced me to over the past 12 years of salvation. God rescued and saved me using His music. I am alive today, and I am here on this blog because of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Since He did this to me – I know that He can do it to you as well – if He hasn’t already done so.

I’ll always keep my political beliefs to myself, but I’ll never do that with my spiritual beliefs. I believe in God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit – as One God. I love God more than anyone and more than anything. I will praise and worship God above and beyond everyone and everything else in my life. I will share God’s Good News with you on this blog, on my Twitter feed, and out there in the world that we live in.

I know that what I write online is not for everyone. If it’s not for you then you don’t have to read it. If it is for you then let’s keep moving forward together as we get closer to God. That’s what this ministry is all about.

Last night on TBN‘s (taped) telecast of The 49TH Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards Tauren Wells performed “Known” and Lauren Daigle performed “You Say” among other great performances. It was an awesome show, and I thank you for watching it with me. I live tweeted 19 times during the 2-hour show, and it was a lot of fun – and worth it too – with hundreds of Twitter impressions and lots of engagements, likes, and retweets. I announced during the show that I’ll be doing it again next Monday night during the one-hour Michael W. Smith concert special “Surrounded”. That airs at 8 PM EDT / 5 PM PDT on Monday October 29TH 2018 on TBN. My Twitter feed is @ChrisMDay, and I’ll be using the hashtag #SurroundedEvent

The Afters return to my chart for the first time in nearly 10½ years. Their “Never Going Back To OK” reached # 4 in January 2008 and spent 26 weeks on my chart.

This concludes my weekend of 4 blog posts. Next weekend I’ll do it again on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest. This morning I preached a sermon on Cain & Abel titled “Wander & Create”. Here are 33 highlights:

Today I preached mostly out of the Old Testament – all the way back – to Genesis.
Cain was the oldest son to Adam & Eve. Abel was the second born son.
When Cain & Abel grew up Cain became a farmer, and Abel became a shepherd.
Cain & Abel both loved God. They worshipped Him.
Cain was a proud farmer – maybe too proud. He thought all of his crops were great.
Cain proudly brought forth some of his self-proclaimed great crops to God.
God was not enthused. He was not impressed.
Abel was more independent than his older brother Cain.
Abel did his own thing. He was the quiet one. He was the shy guy.
Abel didn’t seem to have a relationship with his mom like Cain did.
Abel had a closer relationship to God. He knew what would impress God.
Abel brought forth the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock.
Abel – the second born – brought forth the best portions of the firstborn.
Abel got it right. The LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering.
Cain was shocked and stunned. He was dejected and felt rejected. He got angry.
Cain produced the first temper-tantrum in the Creation.
Cain was like a modern-day sassy and rebellious backtalking teenager.
Cain was warned by God to do what is right, and subdue his sin.
Cain didn’t listen to God. He was manipulated by Satan – just like his mom.
The rage within intensified. It soon controlled and consumed Cain.
Cain murdered Abel. It was the first act of violence – the first murder scene.
God confronted a guilty and defiant Cain.
God banished Cain from Eden forever – making him a homeless wanderer.
God gave Cain grace. He marked Cain. He vowed to protect Cain.
Anyone who kills Cain will be avenged sevenfold and feel the wrath of God.
God gave Cain a second chance at life.
God wanted Cain to realize his deadly sins of the past, and repent.
God wanted Cain to rely on Him for guidance and direction in a new life.
God wanted Cain to see his full potential in a new land.
God wanted the same for each of us while we were slaves to the world.
The God of the Old Testament is the same as the God of the New Testament.
He’s the same God today. He’s loving. He’s forgiving. He’s compassionate.
Receive God’s grace today. It’s abundant. It’s everlasting. His grace is sufficient.
