Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday June 15TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

This morning I’m waking up in a hotel room in Homestead Florida – my home from 1987 to 2023. I’m visiting my former church family – attending service and extending my birthday celebration. Afterwards a small group of us will gather together – probably at Longhorn Steakhouse – for fellowship and food. I’ll be on my way back home to Sebring after lunch.

Normally I watch my former Pastor on Facebook on Sunday afternoons. When I get home tonight – I’ll be watching my current Pastor on YouTube.

I like Psalm 96:3. The NLT uses the word “publish”. It says to “Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” That’s what Pastors do when they publish their sermons online. That’s what Bloggers do when they publish God’s Word online. We tell everyone about the amazing things He does. Most other Bible translations use the word “declare” in lieu of “publish”. A few use the word “tell”. I like all 3 words, for we must tell, declare, and publish His Glory – starting inside the local church – and working our way outside the church and into the world – among all peoples. As Billy Graham famously said – “Christ belongs to all people – He belongs to the whole world !”

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know – then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday June 08TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

I looked back at my Sunday blog post from exactly 17 years ago today on Sunday June 08TH 2008. I starred in a promotional video following Praise & Worship and Communion that morning that was “absolutely gut-busting hilarious (and yet strangely informative at the same time)”. That’s how I described it back then. It was done in a “Wayne’s World” style, and I was the guest being interviewed. (I played myself.)

The Pastor’s message that morning was about loneliness. Here’s what I wrote on here post-service:

Everyone has been lonely at some point in their life, but when you have a personal relationship with God you should know that although you may be alone – you are never lonely. God will never allow you to be lonely. God is our Father, our Son, and our Holy Spirit. We must have a ‘Gospel Partnership’ with Him where He is the center of all of our relationships. He must always be our # 1 priority above everything else. Our human relationships should be patterned after our # 1 relationship with God. The Good News says ‘Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” (Genesis 1:26 NLT)

That’s some Good News from 2008 – back when I was nearing the end of my 2ND year of salvation. My first church met at the local movie theatre back then. We leased it out every Sunday morning for about 10 hours – from 2 AM to 12 PM. (Setup was done in shifts from 2 AM to 8 AM.)

I served with my brothers and sisters of my church family at the front door, at our information booth in the main lobby, at the door leading in to the sanctuary (one of the theatres), and in various other areas of hospitality. I learned the importance of a church family. That’s the key to avoiding loneliness – serving God and living life with others who are also serving God – and knowing that God is always there for us – and with us. He lives in us – if we believe and follow Him.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday June 01ST 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

It’s the start of a brand-new month of hope, joy, and peace. I’m looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me in this great new month.

This morning I’m leading Communion for my church body. Scripture from this morning’s Communion is from Romans 5, 1 Peter 3, and Matthew 26. I decided to write a short “back-to-basics” message on why we observe and celebrate Communion in the church once a month. Four words – “In Remembrance Of Him”. Every month I try to write the right Communion at the right time, and I think that this morning’s Communion is what God wants us to know about Him.

When we were utterly helpless – Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now – most people would not be willing to die for an upright person; though, someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:6-8 NLT)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

Texas Confirmation

Welcome back to #TravelThursday. This is a continuation of my post from last week when I wrote about Chick-fil-A, lunch with my brother and youngest niece at her school’s cafeteria, the Australian psychological thriller movie “The Surfer” starring Nicolas Cage, and the long-awaited return to Babe’s Chicken Dinner House.

It’s my final day in North Texas – Saturday May 03RD 2025 – and it’s my brother’s 50TH birthday !

We awoke to a sparkling clear and sunny morning – the first time I had seen the deep blue sky over North Texas like that since last November. It was also chilly (in the 50s). I wish we had nice weather the entire time I was there, but the dark and gloomy and rainy skies of the previous 3 days didn’t interrupt us too much.

On this beautiful Saturday morning we drove over to the neighboring city of Rockwall Texas to Our Lady Of The Lake Catholic Church. We awoke and arrived early, as my eldest niece was getting confirmed as a Catholic along with a hundred or so other kids her age. I actually had no idea what a “confirmation” was, so I had to look it up on Google and Wikipedia beforehand. (I was only a Catholic until about the age of 10 or so.)

It was actually a complete Catholic mass from start to finish – a longer one than normal, as it included all of the confirmations during the middle of the mass as the kids formed a line leading to the altar and the Priests. By the way – the Priest that led most of the mass was a very young guy (I’m guessing – late-30s), and his homily was surprisingly interesting – about being a witness to your faith on social media. I couldn’t believe my ears. He was very relevant with his message – targeting the kids who were getting confirmed.

The mass included Communion – which I observed but did not participate in. Catholics generally don’t want non-Catholics participating in their Communion; although, since I was baptized in the Catholic Church (as a 4-day-old baby) and I received my First Communion in the Catholic Church (as a 2ND grader) – I technically could have received Communion. But I’m no longer a Catholic. Ironically – I led Communion at my own church the following morning back home in Sebring. We allow Communion for all believers and followers of our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ.

After Catholic mass – my brother drove me to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (#DFW), and I flew back home that afternoon via a packed American Airlines 737 to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (#SRQ). We arrived so early that our gate wasn’t ready yet for our arrival, so we had to sit on the active taxiway for a little while before approaching.

I got home at around 7:15 PM EDT, and it was great to see my dream home in my dream neighborhood in my dream part of Florida again.

But wait – there’s more ! My brother visited me here just 10 days later. I’ll write about it next #TravelThursday. Let’s keep traveling together.
