My Top 10 Hits – Week 117

Every Monday night I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday May 12TH 2019:

  1. “Alive” – Big Daddy Weave [# 1 last week / 9TH week on chart]
  2. “Greatness Of Our God” – Newsboys [2 / 12TH]
  3. “Born Again” – Austin French [5 / 11TH]
  4. “Confidence” – Sanctus Real [3 / 12TH]
  5. “Church (Take Me Back)” – Cochren & Co. [4 / 12TH]
  6. “Is He Worthy ?” – Chris Tomlin [8 / 6TH]
  7. “Scars” – TobyMac [6 / 5TH]
  8. “Resurrecting” – Elevation Worship [- / 5TH]
  9. “Prize Worth Fighting For” – Jamie Kimmett [9 / 5TH]
  10. “Scars” – I AM THEY [- / 1ST]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“The Way (New Horizon)” – Pat Barrett

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Forgiven” – Crowder

It’s great to be back to present the 117TH week of this 3RD era of my personal hit music chart. The 116TH week was compiled as usual (last week), but not published. There were no new entries, and Austin French and TobyMac switched places at # 5 and # 6 respectively.

This week there are some surprises. Austin French continues his ascent, and now he’s got his 2ND Top 3 smash in a row. Could “Born Again” become his 2ND # 1 smash in a row ?  It is my theme song right now.

Elevation Worship has a rare re-entry onto my chart at # 8 – one notch higher than its previous peak at # 9 a couple of months ago. “Resurrecting” has done just that. The song was actually recorded almost 4 years ago, and one of the singers and writers of the song is Mack Brock – who I saw LIVE in concert last week. He was an opening act for Hillsong UNITED. He opened with his current radio hit “Greater Things”. He closed with the refrain from “Do It Again”. That got the entire arena up on their feet – with arms raised – singing out loud to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ !

At # 10 this week I AM THEY (out of Carson City Nevada) replace themselves with their follow-up hit to the late-blooming “My Feet Are On The Rock”. It’s called “Scars”, and that makes 2 hits on my chart this week all about “Scars”.

Finally – a special note about my # 1 smash from exactly 2 years ago this week. My man Crowder. I saw him LIVE in concert last week as well. He opened for MercyMe. He put on an awesome show. He performed about 12 or 13 hits – including “Wildfire” which I absolutely loved. I actually thought it was one of his older songs because the crowd was really into it. As it turns out it’s one of his newer songs from his new album “I Know A Ghost”. Ironically he did not perform “Forgiven” – my # 1 smash on this date in 2017. I was surprised. I was a little disappointed. But he’s “Forgiven”.

My friends – I preached a full sermon on this yesterday at my church. God used music to rescue me and save me from the mud and the mire almost 13 years ago. Music makes me happy. God’s music – God’s believers making music – it obliterates any “Gloom & Despair” (the title of my sermon) that the enemy tries to place forth on me. That’s the message that I share with you here on my blog. I do this to share God’s Good News through His music.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2009

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday May 10TH 2009:

  1. “Open Season” – Air Five
  2. “The Difference” – Philmont
  3. “The Unavoidable Battle Of Feeling On The Outside” – FM Static
  4. “Black Sea” – The Contact
  5. “Set The Dial” – Run Kid Run

Air Five’s pop-punk song “Open Season” began an unprecedented 11-week run atop my chart on this weekend exactly 10 years ago. It was the longest-running # 1 smash of the 3½-year salvation era of my personal hit music chart, and it was my # 1 smash of all of 2009.

Sitting at # 4 was “Black Sea” from a Canadian band known as The Contact. They started together as a high school band in the late-1990s. I really liked this song back in the day (still do today), and it was played on my local Christian rock station a lot during the first-half of 2009.

It had an unusually dark and eerie feeling to it, but it delivered the Message that with God leading us through the darkness – the “Black Sea” – we will be just fine. It’ll be rough. It’ll be tough. We may think we’re drowning. We can’t do it by ourselves. We can’t rely on the world. The world will abandon us and leave us for dead. We need God to get us through it all. And He will. And He does. We will pass through alive !

♫ Outside
Out free
Marching through a black sea
We fight
In one direction

Inside
Liberty
Breathing in a black sea
Alive
With your infection ♫

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Share God’s Good News with all who will listen.

Check out the official music video for my brand new # 1 smash:

♫ But God
Rich in mercy
You came to save me
Now I’m alive

My God
Strong and mighty
You reached down for me
So I could rise ♫

That’s the God I know. The God that saved me. The God that reached down for me. Now I’m “Alive”.

Do you know God ?  He knows you. He knew you before He created you. He loves you. He wants to be with you forever.

Not ready for God yet ?  That’s OK. He’ll wait for you. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1989

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday April 30TH 1989:

  1. “I Only Wanna Be With You” – Samantha Fox
  2. “This Time I Know It’s For Real” – Donna Summer
  3. “She Drives Me Crazy” – Fine Young Cannibals
  4. “The Look” – Roxette
  5. “Soldier Of Love” – Donny Osmond

What a strong Top 5 chart exactly 30 years ago. My Goodness. Samantha Fox, Donna Summer, and Donny Osmond all had strong dance songs at the time, and then there’s Fine Young Cannibals with what I consider to be one of the greatest pop songs and pop videos ever made in the history of pop music. If that weren’t enough the Swedish duo Roxette came out of nowhere and exploded onto our U.S. pop scene with their debut smash – and their first of no less than 10 radio hits from 1989 to 1994.

But back to Fine Young Cannibals. I lived in England from 1985 to 1987, so I knew who they were, and I was a fan of them before most Americans back home stateside. Their remake of Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” was absolutely brilliant, and it was actually the # 1 smash on my 10TH-ever weekly hit music chart dated Saturday February 01ST 1986. The video was pretty cool too, but they topped themselves 3 years later with this gem:

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Until then – enjoy your Saturday. Walk away from the computer, put down your smart phone and tablet, go outside, and have some fun in the sun !  That’s what I’ll be doing.
