MercyMe falls off my chart this week with their long-running # 1 smash “Grace Got You”. It spent 24 weeks on my chart – 22 of them within the Top 5. It’s currently the # 2 hit of the entire year thus far. Last year “Even If” went to # 1 and spent 19 weeks on my chart.

Zach Williams returns with his 3RD hit in a row, and they all rhyme – “Old Church Choir”, “Fear Is A Liar”, and “Survivor”. His previous 2 hits made my Top 5. “Survivor” should do the same. I’ll be seeing him LIVE in concert in December !

Hillsong United return with their 3RD hit. Their 1ST hit “Wonder” spent 5 weeks at # 1 last year.

This concludes my 4 blogs this weekend. I’ll be back next weekend with all-new blogs on just Sunday (September 30TH) and Monday (October 01ST). Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ. Enjoy this week. The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1998

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday September 20TH 1998:

  1. “Take Me Away” – Mix Factory
  2. “Tearin’ Up My Heart” – ‘N Sync
  3. “Studio 54 Megamix” – Studio 54 All-Stars
  4. “I Want You Back” – ‘N Sync
  5. “The Way” – Fastball

3 of the 5 hits above were 3 of the Top 4 hottest hits of the entire year that was 1998. The other 2 of the 5 hits above … were deep house tracks.

Mix Factory’s “Take Me Away” is still a favorite of mine 20 years later. It’s received nearly 700 plays on my various iPod Shuffles over the past 11 years.

20 years ago this weekend deadly Category-4 (almost Category-5) Hurricane Georges was rapidly barreling through the Caribbean towards South Florida, and we prepared for the worst. It made one of its many landfalls directly over Key West as a 105 MPH Category-2. Damage was extensive from Key West To Key Largo and northward into Miami-Dade County and the mainland.

It’s halftime. I’ll be back on Sunday with Scripture, and then on Monday it’s my brand new Top 10 music chart. Enjoy your Saturday. Be safe. Have fun. Love all. Live life.

The 83RD week of my chart brings my 26TH # 1 smash, as Casting Crowns skyrockets from # 8 to # 1 with their 2ND chart-topper. They were also my 5TH # 1 smash in May of 2017 with “Oh My Soul”. This past March “God Of All My Days” stalled at # 9.

Casting Crowns have been around for almost 20 years, but I’ve only known about them since the start of this current “Positive & Encouraging” era of my chart. I’ve gotten to know some of their great music over the past decade via K-LOVE. I’m a fan now !

Here’s the official lyric music video for “Only Jesus”. It is well done. Check it out:

This concludes my 4 blogs this weekend. I’ll be back next weekend with all-new blogs on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest. The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2008

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday September 14TH 2008:

  1. “Sleeping In” – Nevertheless
  2. “Closer Than We Think” – The Classic Crime
  3. “All My Balloons” – Children 18:3
  4. “Shine With Me” – P.O.D.
  5. “This Is A Warning” – Dizmas

On this day 10 years ago it was a Sunday, and I wrote right here on this blog about the kickoff of our church’s 3-service schedule at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00. “As it turns out all three services were solid as a rock and rather evenly distributed in attendance. Flagship Cinemas dreams of the number of people that we had in their building this morning during the regular work and school week.” (Our church met in our town’s movie theatre at the time, and I made light of the fact that our movie theatre was struggling. It still is, but it’s still in business showing first-run movies.)

Look what else this Christian of 2 years at the time wrote on his blog 10 years ago:

“God sees the whole picture. He is the only one who does. That is why He does things His way for His reasons in His own time. It is fine to question God at any time. In fact it is beneficial to do so. That is what a deeply-committed believer in Him does. It’s one who expresses questions for God and faith in Him simultaneously.”

That’s some Good News right there.

This weekend I’ll be mostly Bible-studying and sermon-writing. I’m writing two sermons simultaneously – one on James 4 and one on Genesis 4 – and I’m building a foundation for a 3RD sermon. May you have a weekend of fun, good times, and Good News. I’ll be back on Sunday with Scripture.
