Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday November 10TH 2024, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

This past Tuesday night at our biweekly Men’s Fellowship at my home church we enjoyed great conversation, delicious food, and nourishment for the soul via God’s Word in Titus 3:1-6:

Do What Is Good

Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient – always ready to do what is good. They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead – they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.

Once – we too were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

But – when God our Savior revealed His kindness and love – He saved us – not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins – giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.

18 years and 3 months into my fantastic journey – I still need that reminder. Living in this world we must not be of this world – where disobedience, slander, quarrels, harshness, arrogance, foolishness, lust, pleasures, evil, envy, and hate thrives. And in the 3RD paragraph above (Titus 3:4-6) – God’s Word reveals what He did for me on that 3RD week of August of 2006.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know – then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday November 03RD 2024, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

It’s “Fall Back Sunday”, as we’re back on Standard Time here in the U.S.A. Hopefully you’ve set your clocks back an hour (if you still have clocks that actually need to be manually set). This Sunday is actually one of the higher-attendance Sunday mornings of the year for church services with the extra hour of sleep and extra hour of daylight in the morning. Hopefully you’ll keep the tradition strong by attending, serving, and enjoying a church service in your local area.

I’ll be serving at my local home church of the past 14 months – Highlands Community Church. I’ll be leading Communion for the first time ever, and I’ll be closing the service. It’ll be an honor and a privilege to do so, and our God Almighty will surely be glorified in every moment and in every way.

From 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NLT):

God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking ? Then speak as though God Himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others ? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to Him forever and ever ! Amen.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord, and get closer to Him with each new day.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday October 27TH 2024, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

I’ve proclaimed that greeting weekly for the past 4 years here on #SundayScripture. A portion of it is from the 118TH Psalm and the 24TH Verse. It’s the same greeting that I’ve opened nearly every church service with for the past 8 years at my former home church. (In a typical service we began with a cold open for Praise + Worship – the first of 4 songs. After that first song – I formally opened the service and welcomed God’s church family into His sanctuary.)

Psalm 118:24 sets the tone for the church service and for the day. God created this day for you to continue your fantastic journey serving His purpose for you here in this temporary world – or – to begin a brand-new journey of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. As long as you’re still living and breathing here in this world – it is not too late to proclaim that Jesus Christ is your Lord + Savior, and that you love Him more than anyone – and more than anything. You are not guaranteed tomorrow, so live this day that our LORD has made. Rejoice !

“This is the day” points to the day of God’s greatest act – that glorious Sunday morning when He conquered death and rose again. The rejected stone became the chief cornerstone. That’s why we rejoice and proclaim each new day as a precious gift from God. Receive it. Go and tell the world what He has done for you. Let us build and expand His Kingdom together.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord, and get closer to Him with each new day.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday October 20TH 2024, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

It’s been an interesting past 2 weeks for me – starting with the build-up and widespread panic-buying and mass hysteria leading-up to Hurricane Milton. It made landfall early in the evening of Wednesday October 09TH 2024. I live between Sebring and Avon Park in northwestern Highlands County Florida. After making landfall as a Category-3 on Siesta Key near Sarasota (about 80 miles away) – it crossed the state in a general ENE direction. It passed about 30 miles to the northwest of here in southwestern Polk County (very near Fort Meade and Homeland – which I wrote about on a recent #TravelThursday).

Here in my neighborhood – we received maximum sustained winds of Tropical Storm force (45-60 MPH) with a few wind gusts approaching but probably not quite reaching Category-1 Hurricane force. We only received about 2 inches of rain here. We had scattered leaves, twigs, and small branches on our main ring road. Little to no structural damage was noted. Our neighborhood was built tough almost 40 years ago during the mid-1980s, and it has endured much worse than Hurricane Milton (such as a freak April 04TH 2022 hailstorm).

Many other parts of Florida in all different directions did not fare as well – with dozens of tornadoes, ferocious winds, and torrential rains (up to 20 inches in many locations along the Gulf Coast). A lot of Floridians lost everything from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Thank God for the good work of Samaritan’s Purse.

The biggest issue here in the local area were power outages. Highlands County was about 97% in the dark after the storm had passed. A portion of my neighborhood had its power restored on Friday morning. A majority of my neighborhood was out until Saturday afternoon. My power was restored after 63 hours and 34 minutes in the dark. That has inspired a sermon that I’m praying about and will soon be writing titled “63 & 34”. It was a very unique and quite peaceful “63 & 34” as I used God’s daylight to guide and direct me. I grew spiritually during that time – more so than any other time recently. I’ll share how so in my upcoming sermon. I really need to experience more “63 & 34” time – without the assistance of a power outage. I’m going to work towards that.

Psalm 107:29-31 (NLT):
He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.
What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor !
Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord, and get closer to Him with each new day.
