Weekend Kickoff Mini-Thoughts

2 weeks ago I presented my Mini-Thoughts in 15 words or less. It worked out pretty good, so let’s do it again:

  • We had a late-season cold front move through South Florida yesterday.
  • We eked-out an afternoon high of 82°F.
  • It was very windy yesterday with gusts over 25 MPH inland.
  • We’re getting closer to our 5-month rainy season.
  • It starts on May 15TH and continues until October 15TH.
  • During those 5 months we get about 70% of our annual rainfall.
  • That’s usually about 4 to 5 feet (48 to 60 inches) of rain in 5 months.
  • It’s also mosquito season.
  • Depending on how I feel this Saturday morning when I awake I may walk.
  • This has been another inactive year for my dry season walks at the park.
  • I thought last season was pretty bad when I only walked 15.12 miles.
  • This season I’ve only walked 10.13 miles.
  • If I walk this Saturday morning I’ll try for 3 miles.
  • I typically walk a mile in 17½ minutes.
  • So I need to walk for at least 52½ minutes.
  • Queue my Fitbit !
  • This is Wrestlemania Weekend !
  • That’s right – I’m a big fan of the WWE.
  • I’ve been a fan since June of 2001.
  • Don’t judge.
  • This week is my 8TH Anniversary on Flickr.
  • It’s been an active past 4 months on Flickr.
  • I’ve uploaded and captioned over 180 new photos.
  • I hope to continue this activity this month.
  • My last 5 photos uploaded are always visible here on this web site.
  • They appear right below my last 5 tweets.
  • I drove 491 miles in March.
  • That was more than last August, September, October, and November.
  • Not sure I’ll beat that 491 miles in April.
  • I know I will in May.
  • I’m going on a 6-day road-trip that will total over 600 miles.
  • When this post goes LIVE I hope to be asleep.
  • That’s because this post goes LIVE at 3 AM U.S. East Coast time.
  • I should not be awake at 3 AM.
  • Thank You for reading these Mini-Thoughts.
  • I’ll probably do it again in a few weeks.
  • It’s a great post to write spontaneously when I have no other ideas.

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“No One Like Our God” – Lincoln Brewster

This blog is growing, and new people are checking it out every day. So you may ask why I post a Top 10 music chart every week (on Monday nights).

This is a continuation of a hobby that started way back in the 1970s when I was a kid. I used to listen to Casey Kasem count down the hits from coast to coast every Sunday morning. He was my idol back then, and I decided that’s what I wanted to do when I grow up. That didn’t quite work out. The United States Air Force decided to use my mathematical skills rather than my radio deejay skills.

Nevertheless I created my own pop music chart towards the end of 1985, and I kept it going for almost 7 years. I brought it back to life (online) in 1995, and I kept it going for over 14 years. In 2006 it flipped from a secular chart to a Christian chart coinciding with the start of my salvation in Christ. After a 7-year hiatus I brought it back to life again in 2017 to reflect the start of a new chapter of my fantastic journey – a rejuvenation of my ministry.

God used loud music to rescue and save me nearly 13 years ago. I want you to have the opportunity to be rescued and saved by my God. That’s why this music chart, this blog, and this web site exists. I’m here to share God’s Good News through His music. I hope that you’ll stick around and stay tuned. I want to tell you about the God that I know. He’s a miracle worker. I’m one of His miracles.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

Some Assembly Required (2)

It was a great message and a great sermon on a great day at Living Waters in Homestead Florida. Our Lead Pastor Bob preached on the power of the Holy Spirit in his sermon titled “Breath Of God, Breathe On Us” based on John 20:22 and 3:5, Acts 2:1-4, Luke 24:32, Exodus 3:2 and 13:21-22, Leviticus 6:13 and 9:24, Numbers 3:4, and 2 Chronicles 7:1.

Then He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:22 NLT)

DON’T LET THE FIRE GO OUT !

Today is my 6TH Anniversary on Facebook. I was one of the last of my friends to join Facebook due to peer pressure. I created an account on Easter Sunday March 31ST 2013. It was supposed to be an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke, but it backfired.

The first 3 years on Facebook were fun. I tried this blog on Facebook, and it started out strong but then it quickly faded after that. None of my friends really cared to read a 5-minute blog about my journey once or twice per weekend. Nowadays I’m just a lurker and occasional commenter of other peoples’ posts on Facebook.

WordPress is where I belong. I get to blog alongside fellow bloggers !

I’ll be back tomorrow night with my new Top 10 music chart for this weekend. No April Foolin’ !

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1989

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday March 26TH 1989:

  1. “I Beg Your Pardon” – Kon Kan
  2. “Soldier Of Love” – Donny Osmond
  3. “My Prerogative” – Bobby Brown
  4. “Like A Prayer” – Madonna
  5. “Wild Thing” – Tone Loc

I remember when my local Top 40 radio station – Y-100 (Miami) – first started playing “Soldier Of Love”. They withheld the artist of the song so that we could hear it, like it, and request it without prejudice. It worked, and it became a hit before we discovered that it was child star Donny Osmond singing it. Once that was revealed the hit became a # 2 smash from coast to coast. It began a short comeback for Donny, as it was his biggest hit in 18 years since he was 13.

Nationwide Casey Kasem counted down the hits on “Casey’s Top 40”, and Shadoe Stevens did the same on “American Top 40” on this Easter Weekend in 1989. The results were the same. Mike And The Mechanics scored the new # 1 smash from coast to coast with “The Living Years”. It replaced Debbie Gibson’s “Lost In Your Eyes”.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Make memories that will last a lifetime !
