Friday Night Blogroll Review

These – my friends – are my favourite blog entries of this past week from my favourite bloggers in the blogosphere:

With their A.C. on the blink Travis and Kelly slept on a mattress downstairs in the family room. It’s just like “Survivor”.

See the mattress for yourself.

Phil loves to go fishing. I don’t. I get seasick.

Jesse is extremely self-conscious about his hair (or lack of it).

Bill Finch is a ‘Guitar Hero’ who has a whole bunch of Guitar Heroes.

Luci presents her ‘Happy Friday’ Wild & Wacky Videos – Slip & Slide Edition !

Gricelda and her familia love to eat and shop all over Miami-Dade County !

Nathan, Harmony, and Owen have returned from their Southwest Florida vacation, and you can see selected pictures (mostly of Owen) here.

Chris and Janet Goins recently celebrated 25 years of wedded bliss !

Blatant Promotion

We are less than 24 hours away from the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’. It’s where I give back to my favourite bloggers in the blogosphere and highlight my favourite blogs of this past week. Look for it to drop here on the big blog tomorrow (Friday) before 5 PM EDT.

Then be sure to catch another zany madcap edition of the ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’. Last week I skipped out on a MASSIVE breakfast by shopping at Publix instead. This week I’m fully stocked on groceries, so I’ll be enjoying the mother of all meals big and small bright and early this Saturday morning somewhere in Florida City (where all of the food is). It’s how I roll all summer long in lieu of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ (which remains on hiatus for another 5 months or so).

Be sure to join the fun this Friday night and Saturday morning. You won’t regret it pal.

THANKS SO MUCH for reading and commenting. TODAY – Thursday June 19TH 2008 – was not only the busiest Thursday in history (drubbing the previous Thursday record by nearly 25%), but it was also the busiest day EVER – eclipsing the previous all-time record by nearly 7% !

THAT’S WHAT’S I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT !

Ice Wave in Lake Michigan

And they complain about global warming…………

Amazing pictures up around Sturgeon Bay. Wisconsin has had the coldest winter in decades. Water expands to freeze, and at Sturgeon Bay the water in Lake Michigan below the surface ice was super cooled. It expanded to break through the surface ice and froze into this incredible wave.

There have been pictures of this wave phenomena in Antarctica, but in Sturgeon Bay? It’s been quite a winter!

Frozen Wave ?

Frozen Wave ?

These are not frozen waves, and this is certainly not Lake Michigan off the coast of Wisconsin !

Read more about it.

The Day We Got More Than A Half A Foot Of Rain In Homestead

This day – Wednesday June 18TH 2008 – will go down as one of the wettest days in modern day history as officially recorded at Homestead Air Reserve Base Florida.

As of 9 PM EDT an unprecedented 6.07 inches of rain had fallen since 12:01 AM. Nearly 4 inches alone fell between 2 PM and 4 PM this afternoon. An additional 2.40 inches of rain fell yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, so that’s nearly 8½ inches of rain over the course of two days – most of it concentrated during the mid-afternoon hours. Ironically here in my own Homestead neighbourhood about 5 miles from the air base (as the crow flies) less than half that amount of rain has fallen; however, my neighbourhood is not an official weather reporting location. 😮

Remember the 3 FEET of rain over the next 3 months that I suggested for us in the ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’ ?  We’re about one-fourth of the way there !  We need every single last drop of it (and then some) to pull us out of this extended multi-year drought that we’re in – just not all of it at once !

This is how we roll in June here in South Florida.
