My Top 10 Hits – Week 228

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

COUNTUP MINISTRIES FOR THE WEEK ENDING SUNDAY JUNE 27TH 2021 WEEK 228
TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE
1 1 8 Yes He Can
[2ND week @ # 1]
Cain
2 2 16 Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight) TobyMac
3 3 23 Fires Jordan St. Cyr
4 5 4 Under Grace Tauren Wells Ft. Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts
5 4 5 When We Fall Apart Ryan Stevenson Ft. Vince Gill & Amy Grant
6 6 5 Be Alright Evan Craft X Danny Gokey X Redimi2
7 7 12 Gospel Song Rhett Walker
8 9 3 Rattle ! Elevation Worship
9 8 14 Child Of Love We The Kingdom Ft. Bear Rinehart
10 10 2 Believe For It CeCe Winans

# 1 This Week In:
2020 – “Keep Me In The Moment” – Jeremy Camp
2019 – “Church (Take Me Back)” – Cochren & Co.
2018 – “Do It Again” – Elevation Worship
2017 – “Home” – Chris Tomlin

Logan, Madison, and Taylor Cain remain atop my chart for a 2ND week in a row with “Yes He Can”. It’s currently # 11 at U.S. Christian radio (large market), and # 6 (small market). It registers the 4TH most – and 3RD most increased plays respectively at each market size. Needless to say it’s likely headed for the Top 5 and perhaps the Top 3 as we enter July. Not bad for a band that almost gave up before they rose up with “Rise Up (Lazarus)” last October.

“Be Alright” is the debut smash from Evan Craft. He loves his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, and he sings about Him in both English and Spanish. “Be Alright” also features chart veteran Danny Gokey and Dominican rapper Redimi2. The song ends with a sample from the early-20TH Century standard “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands”.

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

Cain ascends to # 1 this week with their 2ND consecutive chart-topper – “Yes He Can”. It’s my 61ST # 1 smash of this current era of the past 227 weeks. It’s their follow-up to their debut smash – and winner of the K-LOVE Fan Award for “Breakout Single” – “Rise Up (Lazarus)”. That was my 53RD # 1 smash last October.

Here’s the official music video for “Yes He Can”:

Further down my chart this week “Fires” by Jordan St. Cyr is the sleeper smash of 2021 and possibly the eventual # 1 smash of the entire year. It debuted quietly back in late-January, and it spent its first 5 weeks at # 8 or below. Since then it’s spent 3 weeks at # 1, 4 weeks at # 2, and 6 weeks at # 3.

CeCe Winans enters my chart for the very first time with her current radio hit “Believe For It”. It’s approaching the Top 10 nationally at U.S. Christian radio. It’s the title track of her first LIVE album – released this past March.

Due to my special blog post yesterday commemorating Flag Day here in the U.S.A. my Top 10 hits is presented to you today on this Tuesday.

Matthew West mentioned this on the recent K-LOVE Fan Awards: Country music stars are suddenly in abundance on Christian radio. With Dolly Parton and Lady A last summer, and Vince Gill, Thomas Rhett, and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts this week – Country music stars are praising and worshiping God alongside established Christian music artists. It all makes sense. Traditional Country music has been rooted in the Gospel since the very beginning. Today’s Christian music sounds very Country. (Think Cain’s “Rise Up (Lazarus)” and “Yes He Can” and Rhett Walker’s “Gospel Song”. Even Crowder’s “Good God Almighty”.)

I really love the sound and feel of Ryan Stevenson’s collaboration with Vince Gill and his wife Amy Grant. Vince sounds amazing in the song, and the short duet portion between Amy and Ryan is wonderful (and not long enough). Every time I hear that song on the radio I turn-up the volume and listen intently to it.

Here’s the official lyric video for “When We Fall Apart”:

The K-LOVE Fan Awards aired this past Friday night on TBN. It was canceled last year due to the pandemic. I actually wasn’t planning to watch it as it aired, as I was on vacation. But I finished seeing and doing everything that I had planned on my vacation, so I sat on my bed in my hotel room, and I watched it, and I enjoyed it, and I sang along to it. It was a fun show with a fun host (Matthew West) – one of only two awards shows that I still watch on TV. (The other being the GMA Dove Awards.)

Normally (as I’ve done in the past) I’d live-tweet during the original broadcast of the show (@ChrisMDay), but not so this year since I hadn’t planned to watch it until after I returned home from vacation. I’ll try again for the live-tweet during the 2022 awards show. (One of these years I plan to attend it LIVE and in-person in Nashville.)

I voted for 7 of the K-LOVE Fan Awards, and 4 of my 7 votes won:
Male Artist Of The Year (Zach Williams – one of my favorite singers)
– Breakout Single (“Rise” – Cain – my # 4 hit of all of 2020)
– Worship Song Of The Year (“Waymaker” – Michael W. Smith)
– Song Of The Year (“There Was Jesus” – Zach Williams Ft. Dolly Parton).

There were a lot of great LIVE performances during the awards show, and Tauren Wells and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts performing “Until Grace” was one of my favorites of the night. It’s my only new entry this week at # 9.

Here’s the official lyric video for “Until Grace”:
