Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday January 19TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

Last Sunday morning I drove 3+ hours – straight to my former home church in Homestead Florida (Living Waters Full Gospel Church). I setup all of the electronic devices and equipment, I sang with two others for Praise & Worship (3 songs), and then I preached my sermon on King Solomon and his God-given wisdom. Everything worked out perfectly, and the sermon was well-received. I prayed about that during much of the 3+ hour drive southward. God be the Glory.

Normally the sermons are presented LIVE (and forever thereafter) on the church’s Facebook page, and it’s done so via iPad, but I filled-in for both the Lead Pastor and the Worship Pastor who were both out. So – no iPad and no Facebook video. I may eventually transcribe my sermon here on #SundayScripture (as I’ve done with 9 previous sermons).

I drove back home to Sebring the very next morning. It was my quickest turnaround between Homestead and Sebring ever. This past week it was back to business in my neighborhood, at the museum, and at my home church (Highlands Community Church). As I preached last Sunday morning – I need God’s wisdom in everything I do and everywhere I go.

Proverbs 3:13-20:
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom – the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with her. She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left. She will guide you down delightful paths. All her ways are satisfying. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her. Happy are those who hold her tightly. By wisdom the Lord founded the earth. By understanding he created the heavens. By his knowledge the deep fountains of the earth burst forth, and the dew settles beneath the night sky.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know – then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday January 12TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

I’m waking-up in Sebring Florida this morning, but I’ll be 180 miles away in Homestead Florida by 10 AM. I’ll be at my former home church of 9 years (2015-2024). I’ll be filling-in for the Pastor this morning. I’ll be leading Praise & Worship with 3 music videos – “The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours)” from Matt Maher, “Nobody (But Jesus)” from Casting Crowns Ft. Matthew West, and “Praise The Lord” from Micah Tyler. I’ve used all 3 of these songs before, and they are favorites with the church body. My sermon this morning is titled “Solomon & Wisdom”, and it’s all about the early part of King Solomon’s 40-year reign on the united Kingdom of Israel with his God-given wisdom. I’m looking forward to preaching it to my brothers and sisters.

I got the call to preach this past Tuesday afternoon, and naturally I accepted it. I had a half-written sermon that I actually started writing over 5 months ago. It kind of stalled out after a few months, and I started writing another sermon (which is less than a quarter-written). Hurricanes and holidays disrupted my sermon-writing process. And then Men’s Fellowship occurred this past Tuesday night at my home church here in Sebring, and I was blessed with the Scripture that our Pastor led with (Proverbs 3:5-7) and the group discussion that complemented it. I went home immediately after that and began writing the second-half of my sermon on King Solomon. I finished it on Thursday morning.

Our God is great, and I need His wisdom in everything I do and everywhere I go. Without God – there is no wisdom. God created wisdom. God is wisdom.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday January 05TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

It’s my first #SundayScripture of 2025. Thank You for checking-in today. Thank You for supporting my ministry.

The old – 2024 – has passed on. It’s behind us. We can’t do anything about it. What’s said is said. What’s done is done. But behold – the new creation – 2025 – has come. The Lord said, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold – I am doing a new thing.” Our God said, “I am making all things new.”

2024 was a great and life-changing year for me. I retired after a nearly 39-year military and civilian career with the USAF. I immersed myself into the new full-time retirement part of my life. I became mentally, physically, and socially active at home, museum, and church – engaging in new duties, responsibilities, and relationships at each. YES – 2024 was the greatest year of my life, but I know that God will lead me to an even greater 2025, as I continue to move closer to Him – led by his guidance, direction, and wisdom. I pray that 2025 is a greater year for you as well. God has great plans for you and I !

It is Sunday December 29TH 2024, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

It’s my 52ND and final #SundayScripture of 2024. It’s my 340TH edition since 2018. I enjoy writing this feature each week, and I’ll continue to do so in 2025. Thank You for coming back here every Sunday to read what I’ve written about our Glorious God Almighty !

Personally – 2024 was a great year for me. It was a year of transition – life-changing transition. I retired from the USAF after nearly 39 years of military and civil service. For the first time since the age of 13 – I’m no longer working for money.

I became a full-time resident of my dream home in my dream neighborhood in my dream part of Florida – spending 88.5% of 2024 at home in Sebring (up from 54% in 2023).

I chose a new home church in September 2023, and in 2024 I assimilated myself into my church – not just on Sunday mornings, but also during the week. In November I was secretly selected to be part of the Directional Board of Highlands Community Church. In December I was publicly affirmed at our annual business meeting. I officially begin serving in that role as the new year starts.

God has blessed me with a physically and socially active life here in Sebring – complemented by a strong family of friends and neighbors at home, at church, and at the Museum (Sebring Historical Society). I’m far busier now than I ever was back at my previous place of residence.

I’m in my 19TH year of salvation here on this fantastic journey. (Salvation started during the 3RD week of August of 2006, and it continues to this day.) I did not want my 19TH year to be like my 18TH year. My 18TH year was great, but I wanted my 19TH year to be greater. You can’t get greater if you keep doing the same old things that you previously did. God created a new thing for you to do, and He wants you to trust Him as you move forth. Do that in 2025. Do something new. Move in a different direction. God wants your 2025 to be greater than your 2024 – no matter how great (or not) your 2024 was.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold – I am doing a new thing. Now it springs forth. Do you not perceive it ?
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

(Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.
