Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  Personal fireworks are banned in only 6 states nationwide. Unfortunately Florida is not one of them. I’ve never understood the fascination of them, or the legality of them. I had to listen to them late last night right here in my own neighbourhood. It’s annoying that 3 or 4 people can shoot off fireworks that disturb the peace of hundreds that can hear them.

2.  It rained for about an hour here in Homestead this afternoon. It was welcome rain, but it also signaled the end of our extended 80°F+ temperatures. In a few hours I’m turning off my A.C. I won’t need it again until perhaps Saturday or Sunday.

3.  An older gent was complaining at Starbucks this morning because it was way too cold inside there. I wholeheartedly agreed with him; however, it’s done intentionally as a marketing strategy. The more expensive coffees sell much better when its frigid outside – or inside. Complaining that it’s too cold inside of Starbucks is like complaining that it’s too hot inside of the sauna at the local gym.

4.  You can’t make a right-hand turn from Starbucks onto Palm Drive without driving over the curb with your rear-right tire. At least I can’t.

5.  I won’t be watching the grande return of “American Gladiators” on NBC, but this dude probably will.

6.  In the continuance of a New Year’s Day tradition for me I re-lived New Year’s Eve over and over again on videotape during the day today. I watched coverage from NBC (Carson Daly), ABC (Dick Clark / Ryan Seacrest), FOX (Cat Deeley), and CNN (Anderson Cooper / Kathy Griffin). Ah the magic of the retro VHS VCR.

7.  Court-TV is now Tru-TV. It’s been one of my favourite cable networks for awhile now. Tonight I’ll be watching “Ocean Force: Huntington Beach, O.C.”. Good Stuff !

8.  If my beloved former hometown Washington Redskins beat the Seahawks in Seattle, the Cowboys in Dallas, and the Packers in Green Bay then they can beat the Patriots in Glendale Arizona in Super Bowl XLII. That’s how I see it.

9.  I think I’ll eat Chinese Food for Lunch tomorrow. That means that we could have our first meeting of 2008 of ‘The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club’ on here tomorrow.

10.  There’s a brand new family-owned ‘all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta, and salad bar’ place right across the street from my neighbourhood. I should go and check them out sometime soon.

Wonderful weather for Dunkin Donuts coffee. Had a wonderful lunch with all of my sons today at our favorite Arbys.

Got food from Peaking House last night minus my egg roll and fortune cookies, yes of course I called so I got credit for the egg roll and extra cookies next time. I too have stopped the a/c this is great.
I will be making my calls tomorrow afternoon so we will talk then.

Hi Chris,

Happy New Year! I can’t believe you don’t like fireworks. Yeah, it’s noisy so I could see why it would bother a bit – especially if you scare easily or are a jumper, but it’s so nice to watch. Dude, we have to get you out more 8-). Just busting your chops a bit, especially since you still haven’t attempted to lift a finger to cook – ha,ha. I think I’m going to recommend that you cook for our first life group 8-). It can be your first challenge. What do you think? No frozen stuff either.

Have a wonderful day!

Venus

Venus he will pass off either Panda Express or Peking House as his own recepies for chinese food fortune coolies and all.:)LOL..

Not a “CSI” fan. I’m all about ‘reality’ … or ‘actuality’ as Tru-TV refers to it. Tonight I’m watching four hot new episodes back-to-back of “Speeders”. It’s all about the ‘Road Rage’.

Caught some of the Speeders, very interesting that that kid did not know when the cops pull you over you must stop on the right side of the road and he only had his license for a year. who’s teaching people how to drive and how do they pass the test?
No wonder there is so much road rage.

Chris,

#5 Yep. We watched National Treasure on Monday. During the previews, they showed American Gladiators. I leaned over to Kelly and said, “This is embarrassing to even mention but, I can’t wait for that to come out.” Apparently, I’m an easy book to read.

To Paul, at least my hit on that curb was smoother and quicker than the service we caught in the drive through. 🙂 Thanks for the coffee though.

Ela,

That kid pulling over on the left-hand side of the road – pretty much still in the lane of travel – was crazy to watch !

Speaking of crazy – it was one of those days today out and about on the highways of Homestead. In fact I saw so much crazy stuff I couldn’t possibly document it all effectively in another edition of ‘The Road Rage Files’. I’m declaring this entire driving day a ‘mulligan’. Everyone is excused for their bad driving today.

I told my son Andrew about that show he watches court tv all the time and he was telling me that that episode was dull compared to previous ones. I am getting hooked on it I saw the beach patrol that was very interesting as well. Did you see 1 vs 100? that was so cool to see someone win the million. have a blessed day and say hello to everyone for me tomorrow since I’m sick again I can’t make it as i had planned.

Of course I saw “1 Vs. 100” last night. It’s one of my favourite shows. I’ve been looking forward to its grande return. They changed the show up for its 2ND season. It’s more exciting now. That kid did awesome last night grabbing the cool million !

I hope that you feel better soon. It’s always a blessing to see you LIVE and in person at Life Pointe !
