Bedtime Stories

And so we have right here right now the Tuesday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ – brought to you by Zicam.

My unexpectedly long Good Friday / Easter Sunday holiday weekend will soon come to a close as I pray to God and lay myself to sleep in about 2½-hours. I’ll get about 6 hours of sleep tonight, and then I’ll wake up at 5 AM tomorrow morning and be at work by 6 AM. I’m looking forward to getting back to my desk at work and catching up with everything there. Once upon a time I dreaded going to work, but now I adore it.

I saw the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle Endeavour over the eastern skies of Homestead tonight just after 8 PM. It was so cool watching the Space Shuttle play tag team with the ISS up in Earth’s orbit from practically sea level.

I bought my very first atomic radio-controlled clock today. It picks-up its signal from the NIST signal out of Fort Collins Colorado. I now know exactly what time it is, and I can set my watch and VCR clocks to its precise time.

FedEx delivered my fresh new 2GB iPod Shuffle from Apple late this afternoon. Now I can get to work and fill that thing up with today’s hottest Christian rock, pop, and hip hop hits !

And that’s how I roll tonight with my ‘Bedtime Stories’. Be sure to catch this blog in action again tomorrow for some more cool stuff, and don’t forget that Thursday night is ‘Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’ night. Until then remember this:

Zicam – Get over your cold faster.

Good Night Everyone !  Good Night Nancy !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

It’s Tuesday night, and all across the vast blogosphere everyone is wondering just one thing:  ‘What’s on Chris Day’s mind right now ?’

1.  It turned out to be a 4½-day / 115-hour holiday weekend away from work for me, and I had no clue that it would go down like that until I got sick with a head cold. Some events in Life you just can’t forecast or predict.

2.  I’ll be back at work bright and early tomorrow morning at 6 AM. I’d like to thank my good buddies Mr. Vitamin C, Dr. Airborne, y Señor Zicam for helping me make it through this most recent cold which I am about to declare as done and over with. ‘MISSION ACCOMPLISHED’.

3.  It was a cold morning in Homestead this morning. We didn’t quite get down into the mid-40s here – 51°F officially at the base and 49°F officially at Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, but wind chills were certainly down into the lower-to-middle-40s for a few hours.

4.  1.73 inches of rain – That’s how much we got here in Homestead on Saturday and Easter Sunday combined. We needed every last hundredth of an inch of it too. We’ve still got another 2+ months remaining of our dry season.

5.  Success In Iraq – Seeing thousands of Iraqi Christians attend Easter Sunday services at churches all throughout Baghdad without fear of violence.

6.  10 states lie entirely east of the great state of Florida, and 5 additional states extend further east than Florida. Can you name those 15 states ?

7.  I was home all day on Saturday, all day (after 12 noon) on Easter Sunday, and all day on Monday (aside from about 45 minutes late on Monday morning). So when does FedEx decide that it would be a perfect time to deliver a package to me that I need to sign for ?  Yep. You guessed it. During those 45 minutes when I stepped out late on Monday morning. That was God’s practical joke for me on Monday.

8.  Office Depot is my playground. I have to limit myself to no more than 45 minutes in that store or else I’ll end up buying the whole store. Pretty soon Staples will be opening up here in Homestead. It will be my second playground.

9.  Happiness is being able to dry a big load of wet clothes in the dryer in 50 minutes or less (compared with the two hours or more that it took before I had my rooftop dryer vent unclogged this morning).

10.  Happiness is working, talking, and laughing with Ela over the telephone while conducting church business. She keeps making me laugh. I like returning the favour.
