The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2008

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday November 02ND 2008:

  1. “Outrage” – Capital Lights
  2. “I Give Up” – Stellar Kart
  3. “Who I Was And Who I Am” – Ruth
  4. “I Can’t Stand To Fall” – Philmont
  5. “Sleeping In” – Nevertheless

Ruth was one of my favorite bands back then – 26½ months into my fantastic journey. They hit my chart with 4 straight Top 3 smash hits in less than 3 years:  “Cross The Line” (6 weeks at # 2 in 2007), “Who I Was And Who I Am” (# 3 in 2008), “Back To The Five” (# 1 in 2009), and “Rolling With The Punches” (11 weeks at # 2 in 2009). All 4 tracks have been in heavy rotation on my iPod Shuffles since they were hits, and they have been played a combined 3,817 times since then.

I resurrected a page from my former hit music web site of the late-1990s / early-2000s. It’s every single # 1 song during the second (and longest) era of my personal hit music chart from 1995 to 2010. I’ve got it updated to June of 2008 so far, and I’ll be adding to it in the weeks to come. To access this new page simply click on “THE MAJOR’S CHART-TOPPERS” atop the web edition of this blog.

During those 14+ years of the second era – my chart evolved from Mainstream Top 40 to Pure Dance (European House, Techno, and Trance), back to Mainstream Top 40, and then ultimately to Christian Top 40 (post-salvation). They represent the soundtrack of my life from my late-20s, through my 30s, and into my early-40s.

It’s halftime. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with my remaining two blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thank You for your time.
