Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).
It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday August 08TH 2004:
- “Meant To Live” – Switchfoot
- “Outrageous” – Britney Spears
- “The Reason” – Hoobastank
- “Ocean Avenue” – Yellowcard
- “Move Ya Body” – Nina Sky
Switchfoot’s “Meant To Live” spent its 3RD week atop my chart exactly 15 years ago this weekend. It would go on to spend a total of 6 weeks at # 1. Back then I didn’t know what the words of the song meant. I just loved the melody of the song. 8 months later on April 02ND 2005 me and my brother saw Switchfoot LIVE in concert at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven Florida.
Switchfoot would chart 6 times from 2004 to 2008 – “Meant To Live” (# 1 for 6 weeks in 2004), “Dare You To Move” (# 1 for 3 weeks in 2004), “Stars” (# 14 in 2005), “Oh ! Gravity” (# 4 in 2006), “Awakening” (# 2 in 2007), and “This Is Home” (# 5 in 2008). “Awakening” is currently in heavy airplay at my desk at work (via my iPod Shuffles). It’s also the most-played Switchfoot song on my iTunes library at 1,019 plays (and counting).
It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !
