My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2005

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday January 09TH 2005:

  1. “Welcome To My Life” – Simple Plan
  2. “I Don’t Want To Be” – Gavin DeGraw
  3. “Lady” – Lenny Kravitz
  4. “True” – Ryan Cabrera
  5. “Beautiful Soul” – Jesse McCartney

Jesse McCartney’s debut smash was huge on my chart back at the start of 2005. It actually debuted in December 2004, and it spent 30 weeks on what was my Top 25 mainstream pop chart at the time. (Back then I listened to heritage Top 40 radio station Y-100 out of Miami Florida.) “Beautiful Soul” finished as my # 5 hit of 2005. Jesse was actually a “2-hit-wonder” on my chart. He also scored with “She’s No You” – a # 11 hit a few months later in 2005. Jesse was 17 when he filmed the music video for “Beautiful Soul”, and here it is:

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with 2 more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !
