Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday September 25TH 2022, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

Last Sunday I preached my new sermon – “Good & Evil”. It’s the continuation of “Honor & Respect” – which I’ve been presenting here on #SundayScripture in its original written form. I have 2 more parts to go – this week and next week. Starting on Sunday October 09TH I’ll begin Part 1 of “Good & Evil”. But right now – here’s Part 7 of “Honor & Respect”:

So Isaiah 53 and its 12 verses was very influential to the leaders of the early church. Let’s review much of Isaiah 53 – starting with the 4TH verse.

And as the Bible says:

Yet it was our weaknesses He carried. It was our sorrows that weighed Him down. And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God – a punishment for His own sins !  But He was pierced for our rebellion – crushed for our sins. He was beaten, so we could be whole. He was whipped, so we could be healed. All of us – like sheep – have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on Him – the sins of us all.

He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet He never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers – He did not open His mouth. Unjustly condemned – He was led away. No one cared that He died without descendants – that His life was cut short in midstream. But He was struck down for the rebellion of My people. He had done no wrong, and had never deceived anyone. But He was buried like a criminal. He was put in a rich man’s grave.

But it was the LORD’s good plan to crush Him, and cause Him grief. Yet when His life is made an offering for sin – He will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD’s good plan will prosper in His hands. When He sees all that is accomplished by His anguish – He will be satisfied. And because of His experience – my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He will bear all their sins.

I will give Him the honors of a victorious soldier – because He exposed Himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many, and (He) interceded for rebels.

AMEN !  YES INDEED. You think the prophet Isaiah knew what he was talking about back then – before Christ ?  I think so. By the way – who in here is a rebel ?  Oh – we’re all rebels in here. We’re all sinners. We’re trying to do better. But we’re not there yet. Our God was counted among the rebels. He interceded for the rebels.

I’m sure you’ve already figured this out. Isaiah Chapter 53 is a prophecy of the coming Messiah – the Christ. No wonder Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, and Peter refer to – and even quote Scripture from – Isaiah Chapter 53.

He took our sicknesses. He removed our diseases. When He took away our sins – He took our sicknesses. Sickness exists because of sin in this world. When Christ hung on the cross – we were physically healed. He fulfilled Scripture. What’s concealed in the Old – is revealed in the New. Christ is the Messiah. He didn’t suffer for anything He did. He suffered for everything we did.

(End of Part 7)

If you wish to learn more about the God I know then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.
