Bedtime Stories

Greetings Friends. It’s time for the Sunday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’.

What a crazy week it’s been here on this blog. Monday (April 14TH) was the ‘best day ever’ – by far. The following day – Tuesday (‘Tax Day’) – was the biggest Tuesday in our history. As it turns out it was our biggest 7-day (Monday to Sunday) week EVER !  Thanks so much for blogging with me – whether you read and run or read and comment. It is most appreciative !

This upcoming week I’ve got some really cool stuff coming up. I’ve got another exciting edition of ‘The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club’ tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. Get ready for a special on-location in Orlando edition of the ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’, as well as at least a couple of special editions of the ‘Tossed Salad’ from the 2008 National New Church Conference in Orlando. I may even throw in another edition of ‘The Chris Day Club’ while I’m at it !

Incidentally if you wish to see some pictures of me here on this blog then send some pictures of me via E-Mail. I keep getting my picture taken at Life Pointe Church services and events, yet I never see those pictures. Somebody has those pictures of me. If you send them to me than I will post some of them for all to see. I don’t own a camera. I have never owned a camera. I don’t want a camera. I have a photographic memory. I am fortunate for that, but most people are not.  😉

OK that’s my schpeel for tonight. I wish you all a safe, peaceful, and blessed Sunday night with your loved ones. Take good care of yourselves, and I’ll see you all again … when I see you all again … which means Tuesday morning for a bunch of you that will be in Orlando with me.

Good Night Everyone !  Good Night Venus !

Bedtime Stories

Greetings Friends. It’s time for the Thursday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ – right here – right now !

TODAY is the 27TH birthday of my little brother’s wife who believe it or not is a proud member of ‘The Chris Day Club’. Ever since she came into my brother’s life she became the ‘Chris’ in my family and I became the ‘Christopher’ (or any of a bunch of other nicknames that my brother has for me). Of course when I refer to her I call her ‘Christina’ because I am the original ‘Chris’.  🙂

My brother celebrates his 33RD birthday in just about 16 days. Hey Bunky send me an E-Mail (or comment this blog entry) with a list of your 3 favourite stores to shop at. Do it as soon as possible so that I can order and send your gift out to you in the mail.

I am reminded that this is the 17TH of the month. It was exactly 11 months ago today that the coolest cat that ever lived with me – Boots – passed on to the Feline Wing of Heaven. He’s hangin’ out with Fluffy and Barney up above now. I will always love you buddy !  You were my best friend for 12½ years of my life.

Next week I’m headed up to Orlando with a few cool friends of mine such as Travis and Paul and Jesse and Alex and Anne J. and Venus. It’s going to be very interesting to return to that place for the first time since my rebirthing. As Pastor Travis loves to say I’ll be ‘kicking the devil in his teeth’ and ‘shooting him in the eye with a squirt gun’ as I hang out with my new friends at this awesome event in a city that I used to visit on a regular basis for over 13 years during the darkness of my previous life.

Thursdays are MASSIVE blog days for proud members of my blogroll. They know that the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’ is less than 24 hours away, so they were on their ‘A’ game today in a dire effort to make the ‘Blogroll Review’ for this week. You can catch it right here on my blog tomorrow afternoon sometime after 4 PM EDT.

I’ve also planned another healthy two-mile-plus walk around my neighbourhood for Saturday morning, so be sure to be there for another exciting edition of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’.

And so until we hang out again here on this blog I wish you a safe, peaceful, and blessed Thursday night with your loved ones. Thank you so much for being my friend, and for living Life with me on this fantastic journey.

Have a great evening everyone !

The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

Sky: Partly Cloudy
Temperature: 73°F
Relative Humidity: 87%
Winds: Calm
Barometric Pressure: 29.99 Rising

My thoughts:

1.  This morning’s walk began a full 25 minutes before sunrise right at the start of civil twilight. I wanted to get a head start before the Sun heated up the environment.

2.  This was the longest ‘Walk-A-Thon’ ever – over 2.2 miles according to my good friends over there at Google Earth. It took me just shy of 42 minutes to walk the walk. I averaged PI (3.14) MPH. I’ve made considerable progress since those 25-minute 1.3-mile walks of January. It’s a fantastic journey all around and throughout my neighborhood on God’s fantastic journey.

3.  No ducks were harmed on this morning’s walk, and I was not scared either. They minded their own business, and so did I. The’re good like that !

4.  This was intended as the ‘Spring Season Finale’ of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’; however, as long as temperatures remain below 75°F early on a Saturday morning I will probably continue the momentum. The Summer hiatus of this walk may have been greatly exaggerated.

5.  After the walk I drove over to The Atlanta Bread Company to eat a MASSIVE breakfast (planned in advance by studying their menu earlier this morning at home). Unfortunately it appeared that The Atlanta Bread Company had gone out of business, or perhaps they were robbed, or maybe they were recovering from a fire overnight. I didn’t really know for sure because they were CLOSED for business a full hour after their scheduled opening time !  The doors were locked shut, and there was no sign on the doors to alert their customers as to why they were closed. I had no backup plan (my bad), so I spontaneously decided to get on Florida’s Turnpike southbound, head into Florida City, and pick-up a fast food breakfast at Arby’s. It just wasn’t the same, but it was OK I suppose.

FOOTNOTE:  Upon further review The Atlanta Bread Company actually does not open for business until 8 AM on Saturday mornings (as per their official web site). This contradicts the 6:30 AM opening time that is posted on their take-out menu.

$38.00 To Fill Up My Car With Gas

TODAY I filled up my car with gas. Here are the vital stats:

Number Of Days Since My Last Fill-Up – 18 (right on par for 2008)

Total Gallons – 11.212 (the most since immediately following Hurricane Wilma in October 2005)

Cost Per Gallon – $3.389 (the highest ever)

Total Cost – $38.00 (the highest ever)

As I identified above I typically fill-up my car with gas about every 18 days, so with that $38.00 fill-up that’s an average of about $2.11 per day in gas that I utilize to drive in and around Homestead.

I was recently accused of being in the oil business due to the fact that I continue to defend the current price of gas here in the U.S. The facts are:

– I am not an oil tycoon, none of my friends or family members are in the oil business, and I do not own stock in any oil company.

– The U.S. is in the bottom 10 in the world as far as gas prices are concerned, and when gas prices are matched up against the per capita income of the average citizen of this country we pay less for gas than any other country in the entire world.
