Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

It’s my takeaways from this morning – ‘Mini Thoughts’ style in 15 words or less:

– Anne J.’s car always smells of fresh bagels early on a Sunday morning.
– Her car is the official Life Pointe Church-Mobile.
– The Starbucks Coffee was extra scrumptious. Thank You Lesia !
– Don’t mess with David C. or (especially) Bibi while they are folding tee-shirts.
– Mark moved the Youth table to a more prominent location.
– Mark does not wish for his table to be neat and tidy.

new-testament-challenge

– Travis kicked-off our 9-week / 63-day ‘New Testament Challenge’.
– Our goal is to read all 27 books of the New Testament.
– That’s about 130 verses per day.
– We can do it if we just devote about 20 minutes per day to it.
– This is Day 1 of the Challenge.
– Tonight I’ll be reading Matthew 1-2 and Acts 1-3.
– We should never compare ourselves to others.
– We should always compare ourselves to Jesus Christ.
– We will never be as awesome as Him.
– The Bible Says – ‘Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.’
– We should always call upon God to grow us.
– We should ask Him to take us where we need to be on His journey for us.

I will not be at Life Pointe Church next Sunday morning; however, the New Testament Challenge will go forth with me on my vacation destinations. I’ll catch up with everyone again in 2 weeks on Sunday February 15TH 2009.

– It was another loud and rambunctious Sunday morning at the movie theatre.
– That’s how we roll yo !
– It’s what Satan doesn’t want us to do.
– He can go back where he came from.
– The Grace Of God allows us to follow, worship, and idolize Jesus Christ.
– Even a dude that partied to techno music in 2002 can give it all up to Him.
– ‘Out of 100 men, one will read the Bible, the other 99 will read the Christian.’
– We must share the Good News with those who don’t believe in Him.
– We must diminish ourselves and magnify Jesus.
– It must always be all about Him – and no other.
– We must love the world less – and love Him more than any one and any thing.
– We must never let worldly things own us.
– We must not be full of pride.
– We must not boast about any one or any thing except for Jesus.
– We must not build Kingdoms for ourselves.
– The only Kingdom that’s relevant is God’s Kingdom.
– That’s the Kingdom that we must always grow.
– We must always yield to God.
– We must love those who don’t yet know Jesus.
– We are no better than the non-believers.
– None of us are worthy of Him.
– Through the Grace Of God everyone may follow Him.
– We are all His children.

Luke 15:4-7 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
4  “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do ?  Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it ?
5  And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.
6  When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’
7  In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

It’s my takeaways in roughly 15 words or less:

– It’s my 2ND anniversary at Life Pointe Church.
– I walked in via the front doors for the first time on this January Sunday in 2007.
– This morning I opened the front doors during the 2ND service with Tom.
– I opened them just as they were opened for me exactly two years ago.
– The first person that introduced herself to me back then was Anne J.
– She introduced me to Casey W. – the Youth Pastor at the time.
– For the first month Anne J. thought that I was 24.
– I eventually told her my real age.
– She eventually put me on her Hospitality staff.
– The rest is 2 years of history – the best two years of my entire Life.
– This year is going to be even better than the first two.
– That’s because I have higher expectations this year for my journey.
– I refuse to be content and satisfied on this journey.
– I will never be there where I need to be.
– I will always strive for higher and better.
– I will never be as righteous or as effective as Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
13  No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
14  I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

1 Corinthians 4:12-13
12
We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us.
13  We appeal gently when evil things are said about us. Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash — right up to the present moment.

Matthew 5:11-12
11  “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
12  Be happy about it !  Be very glad !  For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

John 14:12
12  “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

It’s the 2ND Sunday of January in 2009, and here’s what’s up:

– This morning Pastor Travis told us all about Charles Finney.
– He lived for about 83 years during much of the 19TH Century.
Read his Wikipedia entry here.
– His concern was the lost.
– He was all about prayer meetings, seeker classes, home visits, and altar calls.
– We must be humble with our repentance.
– We must repent of our sins and turn to God.
– We must be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins.
– We must believe in life-changing prayer.
– We must keep on asking, for we shall receive.
– We must keep on seeking, for we shall find.
– We must keep on knocking, for we shall have a door opened for us.
– We must have a public faith in Jesus Christ.
– We must be loud and proud to everyone that we personally know Him.
– We must disciple to those loved ones who are lost.
– It’s all about reaching out to the lost, and guiding them to their saviour.
– It’s all about being the hands and the feet of Jesus here on Earth.
– It’s all about expanding His Kingdom here on Earth and keeping Satan far away.

Matthew 10:32-42 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
32  “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
33  But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.
34  “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth !  I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
35  ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
36  Your enemies will be right in your own household !
37  “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.
38  If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.
39  If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
40  “Anyone who receives you receives me, and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me.
41  If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs.
42  And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”
