Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

If I don’t offend someone with at least one of these thoughts – then I didn’t do a very good job getting my thoughts across.

Let’s kick it.

1.  When things go horribly wrong in your life it’s just so very easy to wave the white flag of surrender and blame President Bush and The Republicans for all of your personal problems rather than take full responsibility for your own actions past and present. In 2011 two years into a possible President Obama administration are you still going to blame President Bush for all of your problems when things don’t get any better for you ?

2.  I saw “An American Carol” at the box office yesterday afternoon. It’s a box office flop, so I literally had to rush to the movie theatre to see it before it disappeared. It’s also a so-called ‘radical-right-wing’ movie out of Hollywood – truly an extreme rarity. The movie is chock-full of actors who have generally been blacklisted from Hollywood due to their open conservative Republican viewpoints.

3.  I think that my Doctor of the past several years has retired, or moved away, or died. I have no idea where my medical records have gone. I’ve been without my Lipitor for at least 5 weeks now. I need to find a new Family Practice Doctor here in Homestead. Does anyone have any suggestions for me ?

4.  I don’t watch crime dramas on TV; however, I plan to check out “Life On Mars” this Thursday night on ABC-TV. It’s about this 2008 New York City cop that gets in to a horrible accident that knocks him out. When he comes to he wakes up in dark and gloomy New York City in 1973. He’s stuck there, and he struggles to solve crimes with antiquated 1973 technology – always hoping to get back home again to 2008.

5.  So far this year I’ve only talked on my cell phone for about 142 minutes. That’s an average of a little more than 15 minutes per month (or 30 seconds per day). Most people I know surpass the 15-minute mark on their cell phone on the 1ST day of the month at around 12:15 AM !

THANK YOU for allowing me to share my thoughts with you.

Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame

For the first time since August I present to you an Internet hoax that’s currently making its rounds all throughout cyberspace. People actually believe this outrageous nonsense as fact:

Fwd: Fw: Fwd: re Sarah Palin & creationism

Below are some actual quotes by Governor Palin during a series of interviews by the Anchorage Daily News in 2006 when she was running for Governor… PASS THIS ON. As you can see Iʼm not giving up on this, itʼs way too important to us as Jews.

On Creationism:

The simple yet elegantly awkward moose proves God’s creation and not evolution is the source of all life. How could something as oddly shaped and silly looking as a moose evolve through so-called “natural selection?” Is evolution a committee? There is nothing natural about a dorky moose! Only God could have made a moose and given it huge antlers to fight off his predatory enemies. God has a well known sense of humor, I mean He made the platypus too.

On oil exploration and drilling in the ANWR:

God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan really, so when they died and became petroleum products we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks, snow machines and fishing boats.

Now, as to the ANWR, Todd and I often enjoying caribou hunting and one year we shot up a herd big time, I mean I personally slaughtered around 40 of them with my new, at the time, custom Austri an hunting rifle. And guess what? That caribou herd is still around and even bigger than ever. Caribou herds actually need culling, be it by rifles or wolves, or Exxon-Mobil oil rigs, they do just great!

On Alaskans serving overseas in Iraq:

Well, God bless them, and I mean God and Jesus because without Jesus we’d be Muslims too or Jewish, which would be a little better because of the superior Israeli Air Force.

Read more about this.

Read even more about this.

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

Now approaching its 1ST anniversary – it’s the flagship weekly blog series that needs no introduction:

1.  Once Hurricane Ike blew by well to our south earlier in September the Atlantic and Caribbean tropical storm season began to wind down to nearly nothing. It’s pretty much done and over with now, but we still have to deal with the Gulf Of Mexico tropical storm season for another month or so. Instead of looking southeast for future storms that could possibly affect us look southwest. Remember Hurricane Wilma during the final week of October 2005 ?

2.  Americans are generally gullible. Most of them will believe just about anything that the overwhelmingly left-wing media presents to them. All of the broadcast and cable television networks are rooting hard for the Obama / Biden ticket to win it all on Election Day. That’s why you see little to no negative coverage on either Democratic candidate even though they both have plenty of ‘junk in the trunk’.

3.  If the McCain / Palin ticket loses on Election Day it’s because they couldn’t or wouldn’t stoop as low as the Democrats have done throughout the past decade to get their candidates into the White House. I have seen virtually no television commercials for John McCain. Barack Obama’s heavily-funded campaign has been saturating television advertising with their misleading and outright false commercials since before their convention this past Summer.

4.  I’m looking forward to the return of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ later this Fall. It’s where I walk around my neighbourhood bright and early on Saturday mornings. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then check this out for a recap.

5.  Me and a friend saw “Lakeview Terrace” at the box office last Saturday night. I had high expectations for it, and it was even better than I expected it to be. I was rivetted to the flick from start to finish. It was by far the best movie that I’ve seen at the theatre in nearly 15 months !  It was so good that I plan to see it all over again via Netflix when it comes out on DVD.

Bedtime Stories

OK it’s time for the first edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ in nearly 3 weeks. Ela keeps pleading for me to return it as a nightly feature, but I just don’t have that much material to support a nightly nightcap.

I’m writing this blog entry during the 8 PM EDT hour on this Friday night. Just before 9 PM I plan to put my computer to sleep so that I may jump on my living room couch and watch intently the first Presidential Debate between my guy and this guy.

After the debate I’ll be calling it a night, and hopefully I can sleep-in tomorrow morning. Saturday morning is the only morning of the week in which I can sleep-in, so I always try to do so but it rarely works out that way. I’d be happy just to be able to sleep-in past 7 AM !

Later tomorrow me and a friend will be meeting up at Southland Mall to see “Lakeview Terrace“. It sounds like the name of my neighbourhood. I have a running gag relating to the movies that I love to see. I adore screwball comedies – and horrifying bonechilling thrillers. (Nice wide spectrum there.) My brother says that I love to laugh hysterically at the movies, and I also love the teen-slasher flicks (think “Final Destination”, “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, “Jeepers Creepers”, etc.).

TOMORROW on the big blog I’ve got your ‘Saturday Night Retro’ where I’ll be taking you back to 1995. You’re not gonna wanna miss it my friends.

On Sunday morning I hope to be back at Life Pointe Church bright and early and germ-free. My 6TH cold in nearly 11 months peaked yesterday, and I am now on the road to recovery. All traces of this current cold should be out of my system by the time I go to work on Monday morning.

And so there’s your ‘Bedtime Stories’ for tonight. May you have a safe, peaceful, and relaxing night tonight. I’ll catch you back on here tomorrow for some more fun in the blogging sun. Until then – yep – you guessed it – REMEMBER THIS !
