Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday June 01ST 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

It’s the start of a brand-new month of hope, joy, and peace. I’m looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me in this great new month.

This morning I’m leading Communion for my church body. Scripture from this morning’s Communion is from Romans 5, 1 Peter 3, and Matthew 26. I decided to write a short “back-to-basics” message on why we observe and celebrate Communion in the church once a month. Four words – “In Remembrance Of Him”. Every month I try to write the right Communion at the right time, and I think that this morning’s Communion is what God wants us to know about Him.

When we were utterly helpless – Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now – most people would not be willing to die for an upright person; though, someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:6-8 NLT)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know – then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Memorial Day

2008 Memorial Day Poster #3.

It’s Memorial Day here in the U.S.A. It’s not appropriate to say “Happy Memorial Day”, for this is a truly solemn holiday. It’s the day each year that we honor our fallen heroes – those military personnel who served their country in a time of war – and who gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep our freedom strong. They gave their life.

This is not a day for those like me who once served in the U.S. Armed Forces, for I am still alive. My day is Veterans Day on November 11TH. It is not a day for those who are currently serving in the military. That day is Armed Forces Day – the 3RD Saturday of May. In fact – the entire month of May is National Military Appreciation Month here in the U.S.A.

On this day – I remember our fallen heroes. I will never forget.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13 NLT)

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday May 25TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

This weekend marks the 18TH anniversary of this blog. I was highly encouraged to start it back in 2007 during the infancy of my salvation in Christ. My church brothers and sisters inspired me to journal my thoughts of God online and share them with the world. And so I did – starting on Myspace. I wrote 310+ blog posts in about 6 months on what was then the # 1 social media network in the U.S.A. After outgrowing Myspace during those 6 months – I brought my blog over here to WordPress, and it’s been here since the end of 2007. #SundayScripture continues my ministry online with this blog’s original premise – to testify about the God I know.

Back in those early days of my journey I was actually surrounded by a small group of church bloggers who wrote about their journey and Sunday morning experiences at church. That didn’t last very long. Most went over to Facebook and posted randomly there until they lost interest with it all. My blog has continued on for 18 years – including 4½ years on Facebook.

I’m probably the only blogger that I personally know nowadays, and that’s fine with me. Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok are the busy platforms these days. I have no interest in publishing content on any of them. This is where I wish to reside – at this dot-com with my name on it. You’ll find new digital content here every Thursday, Sunday, and Monday – some 160 blog posts per year.

Sing a new song to the Lord ! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord ! Sing to the Lord. Praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. (Psalm 96:1-3 NLT)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday May 18TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

I recently completed a test online consisting of 45 questions regarding my personal ministry. (There’s a “full version” and an “express version”. I took the full version.)

As you can see – the test determined that I am best as a Teacher in ministry. Evangelist came in a surprising 2ND place, as that’s actually my favorite area of ministry. Pastor was an unexpected 4TH place. I wonder which questions I answered that negatively impacted that score. I’ve been a Teacher in the church (mostly at my first church), and of course I’ve been an Evangelist and a Pastor (mostly at my second church). I actually didn’t think I was a very good Teacher, but perhaps I’m being too self-critical. I do love to evangelize. I love to bring the Good News of God to the public – those in and out of the church – those online and offline. When evangelizing (and preaching) there’s a great deal of teaching involved. I’ve always said that when you proclaim and teach the Gospel – you preach.

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church – the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.
