Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday February 13TH 2022, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

This past week I ordered a bunch of items online. I’ve been doing that more often over the past few years. It’s just so convenient to go online, select items I want to purchase, place the order, and then have them delivered either electronically or straight to my front door within a few days.

I bought a replacement chair mat for my computer workstation. My previous one was cracking and disintegrating in spots. The new one is surprisingly high-quality (much nicer than my previous one). I was skeptical as to what I would receive at my front door, but it turned out to be a great purchase. I also bought a brand-new printer. My previous one – almost a decade old (bought in May 2012) – was making loud grinding sounds when the print rollers moved. It lasted a long time for a cheap printer !

I also bought some electronic study material online for my preaching ministry.

You know what’s available online – absolutely free to include shipping and handling ? God’s Word. The entire Bible is online in every translation imaginable. All you have to do is Google or Bing it, and there it is. You don’t have to pay one cent for it. You can view it. You can download it. You have unlimited access to it.

I discovered the Bible online back during the Summer of 2006 when my salvation began and I heard Bible verses on the radio and I wanted to look them up and read them again and read the verses before and after them.

Yahoo and Google were my on-ramps to the Bible back then. I still look-up Bible verses that way 15½ years later, but I also have electronic and physical Bibles that I utilize daily.

With every means available to us today there’s no excuse to not refer to the Bible constantly if you call on the name of the Lord to be your Savior.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT)

If you don’t know who God is, and you want to – I direct you to His Gospel here online. Check it out. You’ll eventually discover that you are indeed a character in His Bible. God is talking about you. He knows you. He wants you to know Him.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Mandisa is featured prominently in the song, and it’s also her 6TH hit in 5 years as a lead or featured artist. She’s also my # 22 artist overall since this chart was resurrected 5 years ago.

Here’s the official music video for “Jesus Is Coming Back” – filmed in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. (It was remixed for the radio in 2021 with added vocals from Mandisa and Jonathan Traylor.)

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday February 06TH 2022, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

I have what is known as writer’s block. I can’t think of anything to write for this edition of #SundayScripture. On top of that I’m leading my church family in Communion this morning, and I’m not sure what I’m going to say yet. I’ll have that figured out by the time I step foot onto the altar. (I actually wrote this yesterday, so I have a full day to prepare for it.)

Usually when I can’t figure which direction to go with Communion I go back-to-basics. I always love to hear (and preach) a good old-fashioned back-to-basics sermon, and that works just as well for Communion. (We observe and celebrate Communion once per month on the first Sunday.)

I think I’ll speak of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, and how He suffered for us on that day. Never did He sin. Never did He deceive anyone. Never did He retaliate against anyone. Never did He seek revenge against anyone. None of us can claim that, but Christ can. Christ was innocent. We are guilty. He had no sins of His own, so He carried all of our sins – past, present, and future – to the cross. He died a horrible death to pay the penalty for our sins forever. He did that for us. That allows us to be dead to sin. That allows us to live for what is right. We didn’t deserve it, but by God’s Grace – we are saved. By His wounds – we are healed. By His suffering – we are free.

God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV)

I think God took away my writer’s block. I have a Communion to prepare now, and perhaps my next sermon.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.

My Top 10 Hits – Week 259

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

COUNTUP FOR THE WEEK ENDING SUNDAY JANUARY 30TH 2022 WEEK 259
TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE
1 1 12 Weary Traveler
[7TH week @ # 1]
Jordan St. Cyr
2 4 4 River Of Life Mac Powell
3 2 17 Come What May We Are Messengers
4 3 14 In The House Crowder
5 6 8 Jesus Is Coming Back Jordan Feliz Ft. Mandisa & Jonathan Traylor
6 5 5 Walking Free Micah Tyler
7 9 2 Too Good To Not Believe Brandon Lake Ft. Jenn Johnson
8 1 Holy Spirit Come Patrick Mayberry
9 1 See Me Through It Brandon Heath
10 1 Brighter Days Blessing Offor

# 1 This Week In:
2021 – “Every Step Of The Way” – Cade Thompson
2020 – “Rescue Story” – Zach Williams
2019 – “Nobody Loves Me Like You” – Chris Tomlin
2018 – “Gracefully Broken” – Matt Redman Ft. Tasha Cobbs Leonard

NEW # 1 CONTENDER – As Jordan St. Cyr spends his 7TH week atop my chart Mac Powell becomes the 4TH artist to occupy the # 2 spot behind Jordan following Ryan Ellis, Crowder, and We Are Messengers. It’s Mac’s debut smash as a solo artist. He was previously the lead singer of Third Day for 27 years (1991-2018). Their “Soul On Fire” from 2015 is a favorite of mine as a recurrent that I didn’t discover until 2 years later (when this era began). I’m really liking Mac’s “River Of Life”. It’s got the same feel as “Soul On Fire”. A little more radio airplay on K-LOVE could propel it to # 1.

BRANDON HEATH – He’s back with his first hit on my chart in over 4 years (since “Whole Heart” peaked at # 2). His new track – “See Me Through It” – is poppy and catchy – easy to sing along and move around to. It should last a long time at U.S. Christian radio (and hence my chart). Here’s the official audio video that’s posted on Brandon’s YouTube account:
