My Top 10 Hits – Week 274

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back nearly 45 years. Here’s this week’s chart – for the week ending Sunday May 15TH 2022 – the 274TH week of this current era that began on Presidents’ Day Weekend of 2017:

TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE
1 3 10 Egypt
[1ST week @ # 1]
Cory Asbury
2 1 8 Wonder Working All Creatures
3 2 16 See Me Through It Brandon Heath
4 5 14 Sunday Sermons Anne Wilson
5 4 8 Fill My Cup Andrew Ripp
6 9 2 Honey In The Rock Brooke Ligertwood Ft. Brandon Lake
7 10 2 Me On Your Mind Matthew West
8 6 16 Brighter Days Blessing Offor
9 1 For God Is With Us for King + Country
10 8 9 Fake It Tauren Wells

# 1 This Week In:
2021 – “Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight)” – TobyMac
2020 – “I Will Fear No More” – The Afters
2019 – “Alive” – Big Daddy Weave
2018 – “The Way (New Horizon)” – Pat Barrett
2017 – “Forgiven” – Crowder

EGYPT – Cory Asbury’s 4TH hit on my chart is my new # 1 smash. It’s an unlikely # 1 smash in that it spent its first 5 weeks on my chart struggling between # 10 and # 9 due mostly to lack of radio airplay. By Week 6 it was starting to make its move up my chart. It’s actually been around for a while. It was unsuspectingly conceived in 2017 at a church service. It was released as a 6:22 LIVE single at the start of the COVID pandemic. During the Summer of 2021 it was released again as a single – this time as a shortened 3:20 studio version. That version soon began playing on the radio, and now some 9 months later it tops my chart. Although officially identified as a recurrent nowadays – it’s still a Top 20 radio hit nationwide.

SUNDAY SERMONS – It was a Saturday night surprise. Just as I was getting ready to shut everything down and go to bed this past Saturday night I got several text messages all at once from my Pastor and his family asking if I could preach the next morning. And so I did – for the 3RD Sunday in a row. I preached a continuation of my sermon from the previous Sunday – “People & Places”. It was an unrehearsed, unwritten, and spontaneous-from-the-heart message on recent people and places on my journey. Praise & Worship consisted of 3 music videos – “House Of The Lord” (Phil Wickham), “Magnify” (We Are Messengers), and “Sunday Sermons” (Anne Wilson).

This is usually the end of another weekend of blog posts, but not this weekend. I’ll have another one tomorrow – a special #BonusTuesday post. The next day – a new weekend begins with a special #BonusWednesday post.

My Top 10 Hits – Week 273

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back nearly 45 years. Here’s this week’s chart – for the week ending Sunday May 08TH 2022 – the 273RD week of this current era that began on Presidents’ Day Weekend of 2017:

TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE

2020 – “Almost Home” – MercyMe
2019 – “Alive” – Big Daddy Weave
2018 – “What A Friend” – Matt Maher
2017 – “Forgiven” – Crowder

EGYPT – Cory Asbury’s 4TH hit on my chart is this week’s fastest climber – ascending from # 6 to # 3. I featured its music video in last week’s edition, and I played it for my church body as part of Praise & Worship yesterday morning. After the video played I briefly talked about it.

BROOKE – Brooke Fraser (maiden name) / Brooke Ligertwood (married name) is no stranger to my chart. She’s been on twice before – as the lead singer of Hillsong Worship. “What A Beautiful Name” entered my chart way back on Week 4. The following year (2018) “Who You Say I Am” spent 4 weeks at # 1. “Honey In The Rock” is her first solo hit on my chart, and I love its sound !

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again this upcoming weekend – with 5 new entries – known as #TravelThursday, #RetroFriday, #SundayScripture, #Top10Monday, and a special #BonusTuesday post.

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

#TOP10MONDAY WEEK ENDING – SUNDAY MAY 01ST 2022 WEEK 272

[1ST week @ # 1]
All Creatures

3 3 6 Fill My Cup Andrew Ripp
4 5 12 Sunday Sermons Anne Wilson
5 4 14 Brighter Days Blessing Offor
6 6 8 Egypt Cory Asbury
7 7 4 Desesperado Evan Craft

# 1 This Week In:
2021 – “Fires” – Jordan St. Cyr
2020 – “Almost Home” – MercyMe

2018 – “Freedom Hymn” – Austin French
2017 – “Even If” – MercyMe

ALL CREATURES – Chris Cron (lead-singer) and Ben Thompson (producer) are the duo known as All Creatures, and their “[wonder working]” is my new # 1 smash – and the 73RD # 1 smash of the current era (over the past 272 weeks). If you’re keeping track (who is ?) then that’s a new # 1 smash every 3.726 weeks. We’ll see if “[wonder working] exceeds that average over the next 3 weeks.

EGYPT – Cory Asbury’s 4TH hit on my chart could be his biggest. “Egypt” follows-up “Reckless Love” (# 8 in 2018), “The Father’s House” (# 2 in 2020), and “Sparrows” (# 4 in 2021). “Egypt” is about salvation. “You stepped into my Egypt”. You rescued me. You saved me. You set me free.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again this upcoming weekend – with 4 new entries – known as #TravelThursday, #RetroFriday, #SundayScripture, and #Top10Monday.

My Top 10 Hits – Week 271

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

#TOP10MONDAY WEEK ENDING – SUNDAY APRIL 24TH 2022 WEEK 271
TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE
1 1 13 See Me Through It
[2ND week @ # 1]
Brandon Heath
2 3 5 Wonder Working All Creatures
3 4 5 Fill My Cup Andrew Ripp
4 2 13 Brighter Days Blessing Offor
5 6 11 Sunday Sermons Anne Wilson
6 7 7 Egypt Cory Asbury
7 8 3 Desesperado Evan Craft
8 9 6 Fake It Tauren Wells
9 3 The Commission Cain
10 10 2 The Healing Blanca Ft. Dante Bowe

# 1 This Week In:
2021 – “Fires” – Jordan St. Cyr
2020 – “Almost Home” – MercyMe
2019 – “Greatness Of Our God” – Newsboys
2018 – “Freedom Hymn” – Austin French
2017 – “Even If” – MercyMe

ALL CREATURES – Chris Cron (lead-singer) and Ben Thompson (producer) are the duo known as All Creatures. They’ve got my # 2 hit of the week for the 2ND week in a row with the lively “[wonder working]” that they wrote together. It was actually released as a digital single last July, and it received substantial airplay at U.S. Christian radio last September, October, and November. K-LOVE picked-up on it a couple of months ago, but airplay has been rather light thus far. I love the edgy sound of it.

♫ Oh I belong
To a wonder-working God
Making a way like only He could
And all I can say is God is good
Oh I belong
To a wonder-working God
Trading my chains for victory
My God is working a wonder in me ♫
