HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY – (Or Saint Valentine’s Day.) Like most holidays it’s highly commercialized nowadays with cards, candy, roses, hugs, and kisses being exchanged, and restaurants filling-up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It originated as a church holiday (going back over 1,500 years) – particularly in the Catholic and Lutheran church. Growing up in the Catholic church (and school) as a little kid in the early-to-mid-1970s I remember Saint Valentine’s Day as being quite the event on the calendar. You know I love Christian pop music, as there’s a lot of love in it – even when “Love” is not part of the title or chorus of the song. The overall theme of most of the songs on the radio is love, and the biggest station that plays them all – is K-LOVE. Our God created love. He is love. He commands us to love one another – on this day – and on every day.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice, but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7,13 NLT)

THE OTHER JORDAN – As Jordan St. Cyr continues on at the top of my chart into his 3RD month – the other Jordan – Feliz – continues his ascent up my chart with his 6TH hit in 5 years – “Jesus Is Coming Back”. It’s now Top 3, and it could climb to # 1 soon. It’s his follow-up to “Beloved” (# 4 in 2017), “Witness” (# 5 in 2018), “Changed” (# 9 in 2018), “Faith” (# 3 in 2019), and “Next To Me” (# 8 in 2021). Mandisa is featured prominently in the song, and it’s also her 6TH hit in 5 years as a lead or featured artist. She’s also my # 22 artist overall since this chart was resurrected 5 years ago.

Here’s the official music video for “Jesus Is Coming Back” – filmed in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. (It was remixed for the radio in 2021 with added vocals from Mandisa and Jonathan Traylor.)

My Top 10 Hits – Week 259

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

COUNTUP FOR THE WEEK ENDING SUNDAY JANUARY 30TH 2022 WEEK 259
TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE
1 1 12 Weary Traveler
[7TH week @ # 1]
Jordan St. Cyr

3 2 17 Come What May We Are Messengers
4 3 14 In The House Crowder

7 9 2 Too Good To Not Believe Brandon Lake Ft. Jenn Johnson
8 1 Holy Spirit Come Patrick Mayberry
9 1 See Me Through It Brandon Heath
10 1 Brighter Days Blessing Offor

# 1 This Week In:
2021 – “Every Step Of The Way” – Cade Thompson
2020 – “Rescue Story” – Zach Williams
2019 – “Nobody Loves Me Like You” – Chris Tomlin
2018 – “Gracefully Broken” – Matt Redman Ft. Tasha Cobbs Leonard

NEW # 1 CONTENDER – As Jordan St. Cyr spends his 7TH week atop my chart Mac Powell becomes the 4TH artist to occupy the # 2 spot behind Jordan following Ryan Ellis, Crowder, and We Are Messengers. It’s Mac’s debut smash as a solo artist. He was previously the lead singer of Third Day for 27 years (1991-2018). Their “Soul On Fire” from 2015 is a favorite of mine as a recurrent that I didn’t discover until 2 years later (when this era began). I’m really liking Mac’s “River Of Life”. It’s got the same feel as “Soul On Fire”. A little more radio airplay on K-LOVE could propel it to # 1.

BRANDON HEATH – He’s back with his first hit on my chart in over 4 years (since “Whole Heart” peaked at # 2). His new track – “See Me Through It” – is poppy and catchy – easy to sing along and move around to. It should last a long time at U.S. Christian radio (and hence my chart). Here’s the official audio video that’s posted on Brandon’s YouTube account:

WEEK 258 – Well after a 1-week diversion last week from my weekly hit music chart (“My Concerts – 2021“) I am back with an all-new published Top 10. My chart continued on last week (unpublished) with minimal movements and no new entries. This is the 258TH week of the 3RD era of my chart. I’ll be celebrating 5 years of this era next month. That’s 5 years of listening to K-LOVE on the radio !

WEARY TRAVELER – Jordan St. Cyr spends his 6TH week atop my chart with his sleeper smash “Weary Traveler”. It’s now doubled the number of weeks at # 1 of “Fires” – Jordan’s debut smash that was my # 1 smash of all of last year. “Weary Traveler” turned-out to be the instant anthem of my long 18-day road-trip this past November between South Florida and North Texas. It was also the most-played song (and very appropriate) during the Christmas season. Finally it played on the radio during my short (1-hour) drive home from PortMiami and my recent cruise vacation. ♫ I won’t be weary long. ♫

Here’s the brand new (just released) official music video for “Weary Traveler”:
