Bedtime Stories

It’s after 10:15 PM EDT as I begin this first and final blog entry for this 3RD Wednesday of March, and I’m so late in posting tonight because I just got home from Life Group at J.T.’s and Anne’s home. I was the first to arrive, but I was not the last to depart.

It was another fun 3 hours at their home, and this Wednesday night’s Life Group was a very special one. It was my one-year anniversary. Exactly 52 weeks ago tonight I stepped in to J.T.’s and Anne’s home for the very first time after several weeks of pleading and prodding by Anne to join her Life Group. That night I took a giant leap on this fantastic journey by meeting for faith and fellowship with a small portion of my Sunday morning church family during the middle of the week. That night I also met J.T. for the first time ever. I had briefly heard of him, but I didn’t know what he looked like. I must say that he intimidated me at first over the telephone when I called to get directions to their home, but once I finally met him in person all was forgiven. 🙂

And so Year 2 with my Life Group begins next Wednesday night. I’m looking forward to it. I love spending quality time every week with everyone in our constantly evolving small church family. The faces continue to change, but the love is always there. We are certainly loving each other and most definitely God with reckless abandon !

And that’s my ‘Bedtime Story’ for tonight. Be sure to catch the blog tomorrow afternoon for the ‘Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’. I’ll show you a way that all of us can get together and sock it to the man and get gas prices down from $3.30 per gallon to $1.30 per gallon. At least that’s what a recent chain-letter that was circulating all over Homestead Air Reserve Base was suggesting !

Until then remember this:

You’ll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent.

Good Night Everyone !  Good Night Gracie !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

It’s Tuesday night, and here’s what’s on my mind:

1.  My alarm clock woke me up at 5:10 AM this morning, but I decided that the best thing to do was to turn it off and then go back to sleep. God then woke me up 12 minutes later at 5:22 AM and reminded me of how much I love to go to work. I concurred, and I ended up arriving at work just about 15 minutes late. I more than made up for it with a ‘working and eating Lunch’ right at my desk.

2.  I attended 3 meetings in a row this morning at work from 9 AM until nearly 10:30 AM. They were all extremely productive and rather entertaining (lots of laughs). I never thought that I would adore attending meetings until I started working at my current workplace nearly 8 months ago.

3.  The Wendy’s drive-thru on Biscayne Drive just down the road from the base specializes in ‘speed ordering’. If you pull up to their drive-thru speaker then you better know right then and there what you want immediately. They pretty much demand your order as soon as you reach the menu board. There is no hesitation allowed !

4.  I don’t like windy days like today. My extra fine mop up top gets all tossed around like that of a circus clown. At one point I looked like Albert Einstein.

Albert Einstein

5.  I’m allergic to most colognes and perfumes. Someone in my building apparently doused himself with cologne today because I let out a few monster sneezes during the course of the work day today that could have shattered normal non-hurricane-proof / non-bullet-proof windows.

6.  Someone out there in cyberspace wanted to know what they eat in Costa Rica for Easter, and a search engine decided to send that person to my blog today. That made me laugh.

7.  If you speed through my neighbourhood then you are disrepecting my neighbours. The closer I get to my parking space in front of my home the slower I drive – out of respect to my neighbours.

8.  Homestead is starting to look and feel like a busy big city. I present to you the undeniable evidence – choking traffic jams everywhere I go. This city is alive and kicking !  This is not your parents’ Homestead.

9.  I recently had a request to add a second weekly edition of the ‘Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’ on another night of the week. I must disapprove of that request because you can get too much of a good thing. My goal is to leave you wanting more – not overdose you with goodness.

10.  Aside from Life Pointe Church on Sunday mornings there’s another place where you can literally rock out to the jams, and that place is none other than Publix !  This afternoon I was dancing in the aisles like it was 1971 to Three Dog Night‘s “Joy To The World”. I wasn’t the only one !

Bedtime Stories

It’s after 9:30 PM EDT on a Monday night, and in just about an hour or so I’ll be headed to bed for another 6½ hours of sleep (if I’m lucky). I’ve got another busy day in store for me at work, but I love my coworkers and I love my job. The last 8 months at work have been by far the best 8 months of my entire 23-year Air Force career !  Thank You God for blessing me with that !

Thank You God for also blessing me with the talents necessary to create and maintain this blog every day. I recently received another nice comment regarding this blog. It was again referred to as a ministry. Since all of my friends already attend Life Pointe Church I am using this blog to get the good word out on my best friend Jesus Christ. He is glorious. He is almighty. There is no other like Him. If you wish to get to know Him then just let me know. I’ll tell you all about Him. I’ve got plenty of time to share with you what He has done for me. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, or what you do. He is ready to meet you.

Have a safe and peaceful Monday night everyone, and I’ll check you all out here on the blog tomorrow afternoon.

Until then remember this:

John 3:16-17 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
“For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.
