The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2008

  1. Yours – Dizmas
  2. Shine Like The Stars – Stellar Kart
  3. Addicted – P.O.D.
  4. Face Down – Family Force 5
  5. Obvious – Manic Drive

These were my Top 5 hits exactly 10 years ago this weekend – Sunday May 11TH 2008.

I’ve attended many LIVE concerts ever since my first one 32 Summers ago in London England. But Manic Drive hold the distinction of being the headliner of my very first Christian concert. It was also the first concert I ever attended inside a traditional church sanctuary. They performed LIVE in concert right here in my hometown of Homestead Florida on the night of Saturday January 20TH 2007. That was exactly 5 months after salvation began for me. The concert was rockin’, but it seemed as if I was the oldest one in attendance – at the young age of 39. All of the kids at the show were well-behaved.

I found out at the show that Sunday morning church service was not held at their church building, but rather a couple of miles away at the brand new movie theatre in the city. I went there the very next morning. It was my first church service in over 30 years !

I became part of a church family on that Sunday morning after that Saturday night rock concert. I was no longer an orphan.

Nowadays I preach about how critical it is to be a part of a church family. You can’t walk this fantastic journey alone. You need brothers and sisters to walk alongside you.

Being a part of a church family should mean that you’re committed to the lives of your closest brothers and sisters on this journey. The love must start there. The love must be genuine. The love must be abundant. That’s God’s love for you. That’s the kind of love that will last out there in the world. That’s the kind of love that will witness to the world.

I’ll be back on Sunday with Scripture, and then on Monday it’s my brand new Top 10 music chart.

Enjoy this weekend my brothers and sisters. Be safe. Have fun. Go with God.
