  8. “Wherever I Go” – Dan Bremnes [6 / 14TH]
  9. “Stand In Your Love” – Josh Baldwin [- / 1ST]
  10. “Everything” – TobyMac [8 / 9TH]

Happy Columbus Day (U.S.A.) and Happy Thanksgiving Day (Canada) !

Casting Crowns are holding tough at # 1, but Lauren Daigle is coming up strong at # 2. My Lead Pastor Bob played the entire lyric video for “You Say” during a powerful segment of his sermon “I Believe” yesterday, and I sang along to it. Right after that he played the entire music video for Chris Tomlin’s “God’s Great Dance Floor” – and a dance party unexpectedly broke out in the sanctuary. I felt like I was back at my old twentysomething church again !

I’m still waiting for my copy of the brand new for King & Country album “Burn The Ships” to arrive in my (old-fashioned) mailbox. (I got a free copy for buying a concert ticket to their upcoming show in Southwest Florida in December.)

This concludes my weekend of 4 blog posts. Next weekend I’ll do it again on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest. Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May God bless you – always and forever.

Communion

Today I got choked-up leading my church family in Communion. It was a spiritual moment. It was an emotional moment. But that’s not why I got choked-up. It was an imperfect human moment at the time.

After I distributed the elements to my church family we took the bread:

“Let us take this bread, and know that it represents the sacred body of Christ that was given up for us on that cross. We take this bread in remembrance of Him.”

I took the bread (looks identical to the photo above), and much of it went down the wrong tubes of my throat. I lost my voice right then and there. The body of Christ had left me speechless. I couldn’t wait to get to the blood of Christ so that I could clear / wash my throat properly. It took me a short little while to get my voice partially back so that I could continue our ceremony:

“Let us take this juice, and know that it represents the precious blood of Christ that was shed for us on that cross. We take this juice in honor of Him.”

My Communion today was based on Acts 26:13-18 when Saul first “met” Jesus, believed in Him, became the Apostle Paul, and began his ministry.

We’ve all got great stories of how we first “met” our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Each and every one of us have a message and a testimony. We are triumphant. We are victorious. We are miracles. We are recipients of God’s grace and mercy.

It’s important that we share our testimony – not just with our brothers and sisters of this church family, but with our neighbors out there who do not yet know the God we know. He commands us to go and tell. That’s what disciples do, and we are all disciples of Christ.

The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1988

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday October 09TH 1988:

  1. “Somewhere In My Heart” – Aztec Camera
  2. “Kokomo” – The Beach Boys
  3. “With A Little Help From My Friends” – Wet Wet Wet
  4. “Sign Your Name” – Terence Trent D’arby
  5. “Don’t Be Cruel” – Cheap Trick

I’m coming up on the 31ST anniversary of when I left the United Kingdom behind and returned stateside. I lived over there for exactly 2 years and 1 week, and it was the ultimate experience of a lifetime living as a young American in a foreign country. My favorite part of living there was the British pop music scene. I attended the first 17 music concerts of my life during my time in England. I often state that my best 2 years as a teenager – was when I was 19 and 20 over there.

The British pop music scene followed me across the sea and invaded America in 1988 (see any Billboard chart from that year). This song didn’t quite make it over here, but it was my # 1 smash 30 years ago this weekend:

It’s halftime. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with my remaining two blogs for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Make memories of a lifetime that will have you looking back at them fondly some 30 years from now !

Columbus Day Weekend

It’s the start of a fresh new weekend here on my blog with 4 brand new blog posts – starting with this one. Weekends always start on Thursdays and end on Mondays here at “Saturday Night Retro”.

Monday is Columbus Day here in the U.S., and it’s Thanksgiving Day up in Canada. Enjoy the long weekend and the holiday – wherever you are.

Today after work I’m gonna go see one of the biggest box office comedy smash hits in history – “Crazy Rich Asians“. I’ll be seeing it in its 51ST day of release. Most movies don’t make it past 21 days at the movie theatres. I’ve heard this movie packs in the laughs with a lot of love as well. Sounds like a fun 2 hours !

On Friday I’ll bring the #Retro back to this weekend in 1988. Saturday is my day of rest. I’ll be working on my next sermon – a standalone sermon on Cain (of Cain & Abel fame). My message series on the Book Of James will resume in December or January. I’ll also be working on Communion which I’ll be leading my church family in this Sunday. I’m back with “Sunday Scripture” in the afternoon, and then on Monday it’s my brand new Top 10 weekly hit music chart.

So that’s a preview of my weekend. Thank You for reading or following my blog !
