♫ But God
Rich in mercy
You came to save me
Now I’m alive

My God
Strong and mighty
You reached down for me
So I could rise ♫

That’s the God I know. The God that saved me. The God that reached down for me. Now I’m “Alive”.

Do you know God ?  He knows you. He knew you before He created you. He loves you. He wants to be with you forever.

Not ready for God yet ?  That’s OK. He’ll wait for you. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again in 2 weekends – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy the next 2 weeks my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

Today our Lead Pastor preached on the red letters of Matthew 24:3-14 in his sermon titled, “The End Of The Age”.

We are in the end times. Verses 4 through 13 are happening right now. Many are deceived. We have wars and threats of wars. We have famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. We have arrests, persecutions, and murders of the followers of Jesus Christ. We have hate all over the world. We have false prophets. We have sin running rampant everywhere. We don’t have enough love in this world. That’s the state of our world today,

But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it. And then the end will come. (Matthew 24:13-14 NLT)

We need to get to Verse 14 in this world, so that God’s Good News spreads and expands throughout the whole world to all nations.

And now on a personal note – this blog is taking a break after tomorrow night. I’m taking all next weekend off – from the Thursday morning (May 02ND) blog post through the Monday night (May 06TH) Top 10 chart. I’ll be back on the following Thursday (May 09TH) for the start of my next big weekend of blogging, but before that I’ll present my Top 10 music chart for this weekend tomorrow night at its regularly-scheduled time – just after 6 PM EDT (U.S. East Coast time).

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1989

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday April 30TH 1989:

  1. “I Only Wanna Be With You” – Samantha Fox
  2. “This Time I Know It’s For Real” – Donna Summer
  3. “She Drives Me Crazy” – Fine Young Cannibals
  4. “The Look” – Roxette
  5. “Soldier Of Love” – Donny Osmond

What a strong Top 5 chart exactly 30 years ago. My Goodness. Samantha Fox, Donna Summer, and Donny Osmond all had strong dance songs at the time, and then there’s Fine Young Cannibals with what I consider to be one of the greatest pop songs and pop videos ever made in the history of pop music. If that weren’t enough the Swedish duo Roxette came out of nowhere and exploded onto our U.S. pop scene with their debut smash – and their first of no less than 10 radio hits from 1989 to 1994.

But back to Fine Young Cannibals. I lived in England from 1985 to 1987, so I knew who they were, and I was a fan of them before most Americans back home stateside. Their remake of Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” was absolutely brilliant, and it was actually the # 1 smash on my 10TH-ever weekly hit music chart dated Saturday February 01ST 1986. The video was pretty cool too, but they topped themselves 3 years later with this gem:

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Until then – enjoy your Saturday. Walk away from the computer, put down your smart phone and tablet, go outside, and have some fun in the sun !  That’s what I’ll be doing.

Annual Wellness Check

WELCOME to an all-new weekend here on my blog. I post new blog entries on Thursday mornings, Friday nights, Sunday afternoons, and Monday nights (U.S. East Coast time). My Thursday morning blog is a free-for-all. I usually have no idea what I’ll be blogging about until I let my fingers hit the keyboard of my traditional desktop computer system. Let’s see how this goes.

Last week I had labwork done at my doctor’s office as part of an annual wellness check. I guess that’s the fancy new millennial term for “annual physical”. The labwork included blood and urine (not holding anything back here), and it checked for lots of various conditions. Today I got the results. Here’s a synopsis:

Cologuard should be arriving soon at my front doorstep in a nice white box. You may have seen their commercials on TV. Basically it’s my very first colon check – done at home. (I’m 52, and I’m somewhat overdue.) I won’t explain Cologuard here in this blog post, for some of you may be eating right now. The TV commercial does a pretty good job at that. There’s also an excellent YouTube video of the process – and it’s rather graphic.

My LDL (bad) cholesterol was a bit high – 110. That’s the highest it’s been since 2012. My triglycerides were also high – 128. That’s the highest ever recorded. My total cholesterol was 188 – the highest since 2012. My doctor told me to double my current intake of Atorvastatin (10 mg.) from every other day to every day. Fantastic. No more guessing as to whether or not any given day is an “Atorvastatin Day”. I’ll also be doubling my intake of Vitamin D (1,000 IU) from every other day to every day.

My glucose (blood sugar level) came in high at exactly 100. It should be between 65 and 99. A 100 indicates “prediabetes” which I’ve had for at least the past decade. My hemoglobin A1C has ranged from 5.5 to 6.1 for the past decade (at least). This time it was right in the middle of that range at 5.8. I need to lose weight. My weight in the mid-180s is about 20 pounds too much for my height. I should weigh about 165. I really need to eat less, eat smaller meals, and eat more nutritious foods in my smaller meals. I personally think that 165 pounds is too light. I’d be ecstatic to drop to 175 pounds instead. My diet really needs to change.

Oh yeah ! – There’s one final anomaly. My liver enzymes are elevated. My “ALT” (Alanine Aminotransferase) is above the recommended level for the 3RD time in less than a year. My doctor told me to go to the local diagnostics center to get an ultrasound done of my liver. (I don’t think I’ve ever had an ultrasound done of anything.)

So there you go. That’s what I’m dealing with here towards the end of April of 2019 – just a little over a month shy of my 52ND birthday. I need to eat better (more fruits and vegetables) – and exercise more. Oh yeah ! – Black coffee is apparently good for me in many different ways, so I should continue on with that.

This week of April marks 11 years since I quit smoking cigarettes. (I started at a very early age.) I quit drinking alcohol almost exactly 11½ years ago. Both habits came to an end forever during my 2ND year of salvation. Jesus saves.

What’s for Lunch tomorrow ?

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Freedom Hymn” – Austin French

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Even If” – MercyMe

Happy day after Easter my friends, and how fitting for a new # 1 smash on Resurrection Sunday with the title “Greatness Of Our God”. “Greatness” is a great word to describe our almighty God – the risen One.

In awesome wonder – He reigns forever.
We know – the greatness of our God.
His power is endless – He lives within us.
We know – the greatness of our God.

Newsboys will be hanging out here in South Florida this weekend with a couple of LIVE shows in West Palm Beach (Saturday) and Estero (Sunday). I saw them this past January in Tampa, last March in Fort Lauderdale, and a couple of Octobers ago in Estero. I’d see them for a 4TH time at either one of their shows this weekend, but I found out too late about these shows. I’m seeing MercyMe (supported by Crowder and Micah Tyler) and Hillsong United in a couple of weeks, so my upcoming road-trip vacation plans are already set.

Big Daddy Weave are at # 2 now with “Alive” – a song that I like to crank-up the volume of when K-LOVE plays it. It’s their follow-up to “Jesus I Believe” which peaked at # 3 on my chart 18 months ago.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

Pastor Bob's Easter 2019 Sermon

On this day I observed and celebrated my 13TH Easter Sunday with my brothers and sisters of my church family. Before salvation Easter was just another day of the year. After salvation it’s the most important day of the year – and the reason why I exist today.

As the Bible says in the Gospel According to Mark – Chapter 16 (1-7):

Saturday evening – when the Sabbath ended – Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning – just at sunrise – they went to the tomb. On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb ?” But as they arrived – they looked up and saw that the stone – which was very large – had already been rolled aside.

When they entered the tomb – they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said – “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth – who was crucified. He isn’t here !  He is risen from the dead !  Look – this is where they laid His body. Now go and tell His disciples – including Peter – that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see Him there – just as He told you before He died.”

HE IS RISEN !  HE IS RISEN – INDEED !  The Lord has really risen !  He appeared to Peter. (Luke 24:34). He was seen by the Twelve, and the more than 500 of His followers at the time, and by James (the half-brother of Jesus), and by all the apostles, and by Paul. (1 Corinthians 15:5-8)

Today we join our brothers and sisters in Christ – God’s children – all across this great nation of ours – and all around the world – nearly 2½-billion Christians – as we observe and celebrate the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ – our Lord and Savior.

We join our brothers and sisters of this global church family on this Easter Sunday, but we know that every waking moment of every new day is a renewed celebration of Christ conquering the grave, and rising from the dead, and giving us life.

HE IS RISEN !  HE IS RISEN – INDEED !  And since He is risen – we have risen from where we once had been.

See Jesus keeps His promises – then and now. He does what He says He is going to do. He is who He says He is. He is risen. He is risen – indeed. He is alive. He sits on the throne of Heaven. He is the King of Kings. He is the Lord of Lords. He gives us life. He breathes life onto our dry bones. Breath of God – breathe on us !  He makes all things new. He gives us hope. He gives us purpose. He makes us vessels of vibrant living waters.
