Every Monday night I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday July 14TH 2019:

  1. “Prize Worth Fighting For” – Jamie Kimmett [# 2 last week / 14TH week]
  2. “Till I Found You” – Phil Wickham [3 / 6TH]
  3. “Raise A Hallelujah” – Bethel Music [5 / 6TH]
  4. “Greater Things” – Mack Brock [6 / 9TH]
  5. “Resurrecting” – Elevation Worship [7 / 14TH]

  9. “Symphony” – Switch [9 / 6TH]
  10. ”God’s Not Done With You” – Tauren Wells [10 / 3RD]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Grace Got You” – MercyMe

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Wonder” – Hillsong UNITED

Jamie Kimmett does it. He hits the pinnacle of my chart this week – becoming my 37TH # 1 smash during this K-LOVE era. It’s also the 87TH # 1 smash of my salvation, and the 461ST # 1 smash of the entire recorded history of my hobby.

Like some of its recent predecessors – this one was a slow and steady build to the top – touching every chart position along the way except for # 7. It even spent 5 consecutive weeks at # 9 in April and May. Essentially K-LOVE was playing it, but I wasn’t into it that much during those early weeks. They kept playing it, and it really grew on me to the point where I was singing along with it, and then I kept singing it over and over again for hours after I last heard it. (I’m actually singing it right now as I write about it !)

My brothers and sisters in Christ – it’s a rough and tough world out there. Many people hate you because of what you believe in – because of who you believe – and follow – and trust – and love – more than any one – more than any thing – and that’s our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Most people won’t tell you that they hate you. Some are bold enough to say it out loud to your face. As the Bible says, “Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12).

But we must love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute us.

♫ When every day is just another struggle
And every choice is an act of war
Gotta pray / gotta press on
To the prize worth fighting for
When it feels like I’ll never make it
When my heart’s crying out for more
Gotta pray / gotta press on
To the prize worth fighting for ♫

God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. (Matthew 5:10)

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.

Sunday Scripture

This morning I did what I’ve done for pretty much every Sunday morning over the past 12½ years (since Sunday January 21ST 2007), and that is – hang out with my church family. I don’t “go to church”. I don’t “come from church”. That would be religious, and I am not religious. I am the church. I represent God and His church with every new moment of my new life.

It’s the highlight – the pinnacle – of every week for me – those 4 hours every Sunday that I get to hang out with those who believe and follow and love our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ as much as I do. They are my closest brothers and sisters of my church family, and they know more about me than anyone else in the entire world – more than my blood family – more than my coworkers – more than anyone on social media. I’ve shared my life with my (current) church family now for the past 4 years and 4 months. We walk together on this fantastic journey.

From First Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 27 to 31 in the New Living Translation, and as the Bible says:

All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

– first are apostles
– second are prophets
– third are teachers
– then those who do miracles
– those who have the gift of healing
– those who can help others
– those who have the gift of leadership
– those who speak in unknown languages

Are we all apostles ?  Are we all prophets ?  Are we all teachers ?  Do we all have the power to do miracles ?  Do we all have the gift of healing ?  Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages ?  Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages ?  Of course not !  So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts.
But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2004

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday July 11TH 2004:

  1. “Ocean Avenue” – Yellowcard
  2. “Meant To Live” – Switchfoot
  3. “The Reason” – Hoobastank
  4. “Hey Mama” – The Black Eyed Peas
  5. “Pieces Of Me” – Ashlee Simpson

15 years ago this weekend seems so long ago. I had recently flipped away from electronic dance music and returned to my roots in calmer pop music. I actually don’t remember much about 2004, and I really choose to not remember much about that year. It was a forgettable year. I wasn’t happy at work, and I wasn’t particularly happy at home either. I came home to my cat every afternoon, and he adored me. He was my best friend at the time. I still miss him over 12 years after his passing. #Boots

It’s interesting what I discover when I review old E-Mails. 15 years ago TODAY – the 12TH of July of 2004 (a Monday) I drove about 650 miles from a hotel very near Walt Disney World (like a mile away) to a suburb south of New Orleans. I was TDY (military term = temporary duty) at NAS JRB New Orleans during that week. According to my extensive records I filled-up with gas twice that day during my drive westward, and I paid $1.959 and $1.919 per gallon for gas.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

Nostalgia

I’m feeling rather nostalgic this week.

Yesterday – the 10TH of July – was the 9TH anniversary of the passing of my Dad. He slowly began exhibiting the effects of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”) during the latter portion of 2006, and it eventually crippled him. He passed on to Heaven after 4 years of bravely battling the disease. I believe that in his final weeks of life he repented to his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, and God immediately rescued and saved him. That’s why he’s in Heaven today – watching from up above – cheering on his wife, his two sons, his daughter-in-law, and his two granddaughters.

As long as you’re still breathing it is not too late to ask God to take control of your life. He will do so immediately, and He will give you a new life – a life that will last forever because it comes from the eternal living Word of God.

Today – the 11TH of July – “7/11” – is the 25TH anniversary of a career change at work that I didn’t see coming until the moment it occurred. It actually began the worst 13 years of my (now) 34-year USAF career. It was also the worst 12 years of my life, and I say 12 years because just after the start of my 13TH year during that time-period I hit rock-bottom, and God rescued and saved me. He lifted me out of the pit of despair – out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground, and He steadied me as I walked along.

God also flipped my career almost a year later, and I’m getting ready to observe the 12TH anniversary of the best era of my career (by far).

The 13TH anniversary of the start of my salvation through Christ is 40 days away. That’s the day that I’ve been celebrating above all ever since. That’s the day that my #CountUp began.
