Merry Christmas

merry-christmas-calligraphy-with-baubles_1262-7024

On this Thursday before Christmas (next Wednesday) I take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you following me and reading my blog a very Merry Christmas.

My traditional family “Christmas” actually occurred 3 weeks ago today on Thanksgiving Day. For the past dozen years or so my family has enjoyed a hearty home-cooked Breakfast, and then shortly after that we’ve opened all of the presents underneath the Christmas tree. Once they are all opened it’s time to watch the Macy’s Parade, and then football for the rest of the day and into the night – pausing for about an hour to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner at around three in the afternoon.

On the day after Thanksgiving (“Black Friday”) Christmas is done and over for me. Well – sort of. For the first 3 weeks of December I get to observe and celebrate bits and pieces of Christmas here and there by putting up the Christmas tree and decorations in the church sanctuary, listening to Christmas music on the radio, watching Christmas shows on television, writing and sending out Christmas cards to friends from afar, and enjoying several Christmas luncheons with friends and coworkers.

We all celebrate Christmas in our own unique and traditional ways. May you spend this season with your loved ones. Make and share good memories that will last a lifetime. Honor each other. Love one another.

And may we remember why we celebrate Christmas.

And she will have a Son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21 NLT)

The LORD saves.

My Top 10 Hits – Week 148

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday December 15TH 2019:

  1. “Dead Man Walking” – Jeremy Camp [# 1 last week / 22ND week on chart]
  2. “Nobody (But Jesus)” – Casting Crowns Ft. Matthew West [2 / 20TH]
  3. “Unstoppable God” – Sanctus Real [6 / 6TH]
  4. “Holy Water” – We The Kingdom [9 / 3RD]
  5. “Believer” – Rhett Walker [4 / 5TH]
  6. “Faith” – Jordan Feliz [3 / 10TH]
  7. “The God Who Stays” – Matthew West [5 / 4TH]
  8. “Rescue Story” – Zach Williams [8 / 10TH]
  9. “Smile” – Sidewalk Prophets [10 / 2ND]
  10. “Burn The Ships” – for King & Country [7 / 13TH]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Well Done” – The Afters

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Control (Somehow You Want Me)” – Tenth Avenue North

No new entries this week, as the radio playlist of K-LOVE (my primary source of radio listening) has become noticeably frozen for the Christmas season, and Christmas recurrents are gradually increasing day and night. As is usually the case I expect new entries and hectic chart action come the first weekend of January.

This is probably the last week for Jeremy Camp at # 1 and Casting Crowns at # 2. Sanctus Real and We The Kingdom posted big gains this week, and one of them will probably top the chart next week. If it’s Sanctus Real then it’ll be their 2ND # 1 smash in a row in 2019 (following-up “Confidence”).

♫ Nothing can stop an unstoppable God
He’s not afraid of impossible odds
This is the promise that I’m standing on
Nothing can stop an unstoppable God ♫

For nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37 NLT)

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – with 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this new week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him.

Sunday Scripture

‘Twas 10 days before Christmas, and our Lead Pastor Bob delivered a Christmas sermon on “Why Christmas Has Lights”. He led us on how the “Season Of Light” got its start. Our Christmas tree was the backdrop of his sermon.

Living Waters Christmas Tree 2019

The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. (John 1:4-5 NLT)

God created light. God is light. Light and life are renewed through Jesus Christ.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow Me – you won’t have to walk in darkness – because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12 NLT)

Christ’s light brings salvation to the whole world – if you believe – if you follow Him.

You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14 NLT)

Go forth my brothers and sisters, and be the light in the darkness of the world.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2004

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday December 12TH 2004:

  1. “Welcome To My Life” – Simple Plan
  2. “I Don’t Want To Be” – Gavin DeGraw
  3. “Lady” – Lenny Kravitz
  4. “Dare You To Move” – Switchfoot
  5. “On The Way Down” – Ryan Cabrera

15 years ago this weekend my favorite French-Canadian pop-punk band at the time – Simple Plan – scored their 2ND # 1 smash in a row. “Welcome To My Life” was the follow-up to “Perfect” – their debut smash on my chart. They would score with one more hit after that – “Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me ?”).  Simple Plan have been recording, performing, and touring for the past 20 years.

The mid-2000s were not a particularly happy period of time for me personally or professionally. It was my midlife crisis. I was miserable at the workplace, and I pretty much had no friends at the time. I came home each day to my lovable feline. He was my best friend. #Boots

Everything began to change a little more than 20 months later. You’ll see how this story develops over the next 20 months every 2ND Friday of the month. #Salvation

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with 2 more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !
