This month of August 2009 marks several notable anniversaries for me. It’s the 3RD anniversary of my new Life courtesy of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It’s the 8TH anniversary of me being a homeowner after renting this same home for 6 years prior to that. Further back into the 1990s it’s the 16TH anniversary of me working for my current employer – the 482ND Fighter Wing. That was an indirect result of what happened 17 years ago this month – Hurricane Andrew’s destruction of Homestead. And going way back 25 years ago this month it’s my silver anniversary with the USAF. I actually joined the Delayed Enlistment Program a month prior to my Senior year in High School in August of 1984. 10 months later I was getting yelled at in Basic Military Training.

Here’s a U.K. TOP 25 hit from 25 years ago from one of my favourite electronic pop groups of all-time – Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD). It’s from their critically-acclaimed 1984 album “Junk Culture”. It’s a virtually unknown song here stateside, so this ‘Saturday Night Retro’ pick-hit of the week is for all of my European readers who enjoyed the OMD pop phenomenon back in its day. Here – my friends – is that song all about those “Tesla Girls”:

My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics

One of the hottest Christian Rock songs in the entire free nation is the latest radio single from Abandon entitled “Be Alive In Me”. There is no music video for it, so you won’t see one this week. But the lyrics are so powerful and amazing that I wanted to capture them here:

This month marks the 3RD anniversary of when my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ rescued me, saved me, and gave me a second chance at Life (always capitalized). I wasn’t particularly searching for God at the time, but He was there waiting for me to fall into His arms at the right time and the right place. Call it a miracle if you will because if you had told me three years ago that all of this would happen over the next three years then I would have laughed at you and written you off as a member of the loony bin.

The words to the song above accurately depict my feelings at the time of my unscheduled “Rebirthing”. They remain to be just as true today right here right now as they were yesterday, last week, last month, last year, and three years ago this month. The euphoria never ends. I want Jesus Christ to be alive in me always and forever Amen. Deep within my heart and my soul. I want Him to rule what I am all about, for I am absolutely nothing whatsoever without Him. I am His creation. I am His Disciple. He IS alive in me !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

It’s my takeaways from this morning’s Life Pointe Church experience:

– The devastation and the redemption continues …

Devastation

– We all need help from above.
– God does not wish to redeem our harvest.
– He wishes to redeem our land.
– That way we can be fruitful and produce.
– It’s all for the purpose of us redeeming other people’s land.
– God wishes to use us to be His hands and His feet here on His Earth.
– God wants the ‘us’ back that He created.
– He wants all of His creation to return to Him so that we may all be redeemed.
– The world has corrupted us, and God is waiting for us to repent to Him.
– His Holy Spirit will be poured on to us all once we call on Our Father.
– We shall be witnesses of Him, and tell all about His miracles.

Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– It’s time to get spontaneous here.
– I’m not even thinking before I begin typing.
– I’m just typing whatever flashes across my mind in the given moment.
– I think faster than I type.
– Once upon a time I could type faster than 60 words per minute.
– Then I got old.
– How old am I ?
– Kids getting their driver’s license today were born in 1993 when I was 26.
– If I were in charge then kids wouldn’t be getting driver’s licenses.
– I just got off of the telephone with one of my favourite people on this journey.
– Her name is Ela, and we’ve been walking together for the past 30 months.
– Ela keeps track of me and ensures that I don’t stray from this journey.
– I think that God gave her that as a task to do while she’s here on Earth.
– Ela will be here with us for awhile.
– She’s on ‘God’s Kingdom Expansion Crew’.
– I went to Publix today during my Lunch break.
– It’s my favourite and most-visited store in the entire universe.
– Dude I have a weakness for these morsels of delightfulness:

– Publix has them as ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’.
– That’s 2 boxes for the price of 1 – a $3.99 value !
– That’s about 72 Pop’ems for $3.99 – or barely more than a nickel per pop.
– I may have to nab a couple more boxes before the promotion ends next week.
– Incidentally I ate Lunch at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s this past Wednesday.
– I think I found the tastiest buffalo chicken wings in all of Homestead.
– Those wings were outrageously scrumptious !
– It was shocking how big and juicy and tasty they were indeed.
– I coulda sat there all afternoon eating them there wings.
– I know that’s right ‘G’ !
– I second that emotion !
– OK we’re goin’ to the Disco tomorrow night here on the groovy blog.
– The Village People are in town, so we’ll cruise back to 1979 to join the Navy.
– Until then keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars !
