Weekend Kickoff Mini-Thoughts

Let’s try this again – a rapid-fire session of thoughts on my mind right this minute:

It’s been awhile since I last did this.
In fact it’s been since Thursday August 01ST 2019.
I’m not sure that some of you “get this” feature.
If you’ve been following my blogs for the past 12 years then you “get this”.
For those that don’t “get this” no worries – just follow along.
Last night was our last sunset at 7 PM or after here until next March.
It’s getting darker earlier, and I like that.
In a little over 3 weeks we return to Standard Time.
I prefer Standard Time over Daylight Saving Time.
I wish we stayed on Standard Time all year long.
Most people don’t know what Daylight Saving Time is.
Pretty soon we’ll start getting cooler here in South Florida.
By “cooler” I mean the 60s in the morning instead of the 70s.
We’re still a good month away from feeling some 50s.
Our 5-month rainy season is almost over.
It’s been a below average rainy season.
I enjoy our 7-month dry season from October to May.
I hope to begin my dry season weekend fitness walks soon.
I hope to do much better than I did last dry season.
It’s Columbus Day Weekend here in the U.S.
I adore 3-day holiday weekends.
Maybe I’ll go for a walk in the park this Saturday morning.
I mostly plan to continue writing my next sermon this weekend.
It’s on God’s “Kindness & Love”.
I have another sermon that I’m working on titled “Ways & Memes”.
I’ll be stepping completely out of my comfort zone for that one.
There’s a few movies that I hope to see on HBO On Demand this weekend.
One of them is that World War 1 movie, “They Shall Not Grow Old”.
I’m really looking forward to a quiet and productive weekend at home.
Tomorrow on the blog my RETRO series continues with 15 years ago.
My new blog posts go LIVE at 3 AM U.S. East Coast time aside from Sunday.
I blog 4 times per weekend on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays.
I don’t blog on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
If I were to add a 5TH day of blogging then I’d add Tuesdays.
But I have no plans to do that anytime soon.
Programming Alert: The 50TH GMA Dove Awards are coming soon.
The show occurs LIVE in Nashville next Tuesday October 15TH.
It airs on TBN the following Sunday October 20TH at 8 PM EDT.
I’ll be live-tweeting during the entire telecast !

I am back with my first new published chart since 3 weekends ago, but while my online activity was on hiatus – my weekly chart remained very active behind the screens. “Burn The Ships”, “Up Again”, and “Echo” debuted while I was on-the-road, and “Good Grace” re-entered my chart (after previously falling-off). “Fighting For Me” is new this week.

I say “on-the-road” because I was on a road-trip from my home in South Florida to my families’ homes in North Texas, and then back again. That’s 2,990.5 miles over the course of 13 days and 6 states. I listened to a lot of K-LOVE on-the-road. Before the road-trip I had noted all of the various radio frequencies between here and there (some 14 of them), and I tuned-in to each of them. I listened to far more K-LOVE on this road-trip than I usually do when I’m at home. There were just a few gaps along the way with no K-LOVE coverage in Central Florida and North Texas – so in these areas I listened to other great radio stations such as The Joy FM, 94.9 KLTY, and WAY-FM.

Building 429 nearly unseated Casting Crowns and Matthew West at # 1 this week, as “Fear No More” was probably the most-heard song on my road-trip. I think I heard I heard it about every 3 hours or less for 13 days. It’s a really good road song, but ever since I returned back home again earlier this week “Nobody (But Jesus)” seems to be picking up steam again in airplay, and I keep singing along to it every time I hear it. Both songs remain at their respective chart positions for a 7TH consecutive week.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2009

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 10 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday October 04TH 2009:

Well my chart certainly rocked exactly a decade ago – especially with Showbread sitting at # 5. It was a cool song to hear on the radio – and to crank-up loud in my car while cruising around the city.

I’ve got to get myself to forget myself.

There’s not much change in this week’s chart from last week. Chris Cleveland and his band from Tulsa Oklahoma – Stars Go Dim – score their 2ND hit on my chart with “You Know Me Better”. It was actually released as a single some 14 months ago back when “Heaven On Earth” was spending 6 weeks on my chart. “Heaven On Earth” turned out to be such a big, catchy, and long-lasting radio hit that “You Know Me Better” had to wait awhile to get any substantial radio airplay. Now it’s arrived on the scene. Better late than never.

Zach Williams scores his 4TH hit on my chart with his “Rescue Story”. The more I hear it – the more I love it. Zach is testifying to his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ in it.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. This blog post serves as the season finale. This is my 78TH blog post in a row since early-May 2019. I have not missed a Thursday, Friday, Sunday, or Monday since then. I’ve even posted on a couple of bonus Tuesdays as well.

This blog needs a break, and I need a break. I’m unplugging from all forms of social media (WordPress, Twitter, and Flickr) for the next 2½ weeks. I’ll return on Thursday October 03RD 2019 with the first of 4 new entries for the weekend.

While I’m on hiatus feel free to go back in time and read (or re-read) any of my recent blog posts, or you can go back even further to the late-2000s. I posted over 1,300 blog posts from 2007 to 2010 back during the first 5 years of my salvation. One of my favorite things to do is to read what I was blogging about exactly a decade ago (to the date) as a baby Christian.
