Lincoln Brewster holds at # 1 for a 3RD week in a row on my personal weekly Christian music chart, and “Gracefully Broken” holds steady at # 2 for the 3RD week in a row following its 6-week reign at # 1.

Entering the chart – straight-in at # 3 this week – is newcomer Austin French with his “Freedom Hymn”. Austin was actually the runner-up of the ABC-TV singing competition show “Rising Star” during its lone season in the Summer of 2014. “Freedom Hymn” celebrates chains breaking, a heart changing, and a soul forgiven.

I frequently preach about freedom. Back before I was saved – I was a slave to the world, and I didn’t even know it. Now I’m free. I never experienced true freedom – until God placed me on this fantastic journey. I am freer today than I was yesterday, and I’ll be freer tomorrow than I am today. God is freedom.

For you have been called to live in freedom – my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead – use your freedom to serve one another in love. (Galatians 5:13 NLT)

Thank You – my brothers and sisters – for liking and following my blog. May God bless you – always and forever – as you walk towards His bright light.

The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2008

  1. Friend Like That – Hawk Nelson
  2. Yours – Dizmas
  3. Casting Off – This Beautiful Republic
  4. Good Morning Planetarium – Falling Up
  5. The Flame In All Of Us – Thousand Foot Krutch

These were my Top 5 hits exactly 10 years ago this weekend – Sunday March 23RD 2008.

I saw Newsboys LIVE in concert last night in downtown Fort Lauderdale Florida at First Baptist Church. The jam-packed sanctuary was alive for God for their 27-hit set. Current lead singer Michael Tait led the first 6 hits, and then he began the 7TH hit “He Reigns” (one of my all-time favorites). After the first chorus Peter Furler and Phil Joel walked out front-and-center to continue the jam, and then they stampeded through 12 more of their classic hits of the 1990s and 2000s as Michael Tait took a break backstage. (Phil Joel was out earlier as one of the opening acts with his current band Zealand. Adam Agee of Stellar Kart and Audio Adrenaline was the first opening act and the host of the show.) After a short intermission Michael Tait returned for 7 more recent hits including “We Believe”. “Jesus Freak”, and “God’s Not Dead. For the encore the entire 6-man band were united on stage for their 27TH hit of the night, “The Cross Has The Final Word”.

It was an AMAZING show from start to finish, and the several thousand in attendance were on their feet singing, dancing, clapping, and raising arms in unison. It was a beautiful night for God’s church family in Fort Lauderdale Florida.

I’ll be back on Sunday with Scripture, and then on Monday it’s my brand new Top 10 music chart featuring a whole bunch of new entries. See you then.

… It’s all God’s children singing Glory Glory – Hallelujah – He reigns – He reigns.

I listen to K-LOVE every day at home and in my car. In fact it’s on all night long while I sleep, and it’s the first thing I hear when I awake each day. I’ve been a loyal K-LOVE listener and financial supporter for the past 13 months. It’s one of my all-time favorite radio stations. After my first 5-year “relationship” with a local (Miami Florida) Christian music radio station ended sourly in 2011 I thought I would never return to the format. I actually flipped to classic hits of the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s for about 5 years.

Turning my back on Christian music (and Scripture) on the radio negatively affected my fantastic journey. My walk towards God’s light was slowing down from its former vigorous pace – even stalling at times. I switched to a new church family 3 years ago this month, and that kick-started a new beginning – even a renaissance on this journey. 2 years later God delivered K-LOVE into my life, and I’m a warrior for Christ again.

For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See – I have already begun !  Do you not see it ?  I will make a pathway through the wilderness for My people to come home. I will create rivers for them in the desert !  (Isaiah 43:19 NLT)

Don’t allow the world around you to interrupt your fantastic journey. Keep moving forward into His light. Walk vigorously towards your Lord & Savior Jesus Christ !

The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1988

  1. I Get Weak – Belinda Carlisle
  2. Out Of The Blue – Debbie Gibson
  3. Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley
  4. Just Like Paradise – David Lee Roth
  5. Father Figure – George Michael

These were my Top 5 hits exactly 30 years ago this weekend – Sunday March 20TH 1988.

WHYI Y-100 and WHQT HOT-105 were my (Miami Florida) radio stations of choice back then. Y-100 was the heritage TOP 40 radio station at the time – approaching its 15TH anniversary. (It’s still going strong today as the longest-running continuous TOP 40 radio station in North America.) HOT-105 was the new kid in town, and their strategy was to play continuous back-to-back hits during the 8-hour work day with 1 or 2 long commercial breaks per hour and no deejays. They played their biggest hits frequently – about every 90 to 120 minutes around the clock. That strategy ultimately failed, and HOT-105 flipped to Urban Contemporary later in 1988 – a format that’s been wildly successful for them over the past 30 years.

I abandoned mainstream TOP 40 radio at the start of 2002 (going electronic dance) – returned early on in 2004 – and then abandoned it for good during the Summer of 2006 (upon my salvation).

This upcoming Monday night I’ll present my TOP 10 current hits – God’s music on the radio.

If you like what you see then follow me – and tell a friend that may like it as well.
