Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

– It’s my 32-month anniversary at the Homestead campus of Life Pointe Church.
– But who’s really keeping track of these statistics anyway ?
– I am – so that makes it relevant to me.
– That’s 32 months of hangin’ out with my best friends in the entire world.
– We hang out in a corporate gathering as we praise and worship Him.
– As we sing and talk to Him we learn more about Him so we can be more like Him.
Lead Pastor Travis concluded our ‘Red Wagon Leadership’ message series.
– This week’s topic – ‘Pulling The Wagon With People In It’.
– Jesus Christ wants us all to pull a wagon with people in it.
– The goal is to get those people in the wagon their own wagon to pull.
– If you’re not pulling a wagon then what is your purpose on this journey ?
– If you’re always in the wagon then you’re not growing by taking any chances.
– The Bible:  ‘Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.’
– If you’re in the culture but you don’t totally trust Him then you’re powerless.
– You’re basically just doing your own thing and calling on God when it’s convenient.
– If you totally trust Him but you’re not in the world then you’re uncaring.
– You have an empty wagon, and you think you’re too good to lead the unchurched.
– One who believes and brags on Him to the world is leading the transformation.
– The wagon is full, and the Kingdom is expanding.
– I have problems.
– I have issues.
– I have bills to pay.
– Things don’t always go my way.
– I’m far from perfect.
– I need God.
– Look at me.
– See what God has done for me to totally change my Life.
– I once was lost, but now I’m found.
– I could not be who I am today without my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
– If you think there’s no hope for you then think again because God thinks otherwise.
– There are no impossibilities with God leading the charge.
– Give God a chance, and let Him show you the way.
– Get in my wagon, and I’ll show you what God can do for you.

This week’s teaching was based on the following scriptures out of The Good News:  Matthew 28:19-20, John 3:16-21, 1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1, and Acts 17:30-31.

Be sure to check back here this Wednesday afternoon for another inspirational edition of ‘My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics’, and next Sunday morning at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM at the Flagship Cinemas in Homestead Florida we kickoff a fresh new message series that’s loosely based on the long-running series here on this blog – ‘The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club’. It’s ‘Misfortune Cookie: Proverbs That Didn’t Work Out So Well’.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

– This morning I returned to Life Pointe Church following a two-week hiatus.
– I pulled off along the side of the road that is this journey to take a breather.
– Now I’m back on the main highway.
– I’m not quite at full cruising speed yet, but I’ll get there.
– It just felt totally right to be back in the action this morning.
– We had a special guest speaker lead our services this morning.
– He’s Pastor Nick Park of The Solid Rock Church in Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland.
– He’s been there since its creation 15 years ago in 1994.
– He was saved 13 years before that in 1981.
– He was previously a suicidal homeless drunk.
– God rescued him and pulled him out of the world of evil and darkness.
– There is a great cloud of witnesses that are cheering us on.
– The vast communion of saints are applauding.
– Now is not the time to turn on, tune in, and drop out.
– Don’t be a seasonal follower of God and then give up and run away.
– When the going gets tough – the tough get going – to God !
– There are sins that live within each and every one of us.
– None of us is pure.
– Don’t feed that sin, or it could overwhelm you.
– Starve that sin so that you don’t backslide to where you came from.
– Keep the faith.

Hebrews 11:36-40 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
36  Some were jeered at, and their backs were cut open with whips. Others were chained in prisons.
37  Some died by stoning, some were sawed in half, and others were killed with the sword. Some went about wearing skins of sheep and goats, destitute and oppressed and mistreated.
38  They were too good for this world, wandering over deserts and mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.
39  All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.
40  For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.

Carnival Imagination - Thursday September 10TH 2009
Carnival Imagination - Thursday September 10TH 2009

That’s me and The Captain of the Carnival Imagination. The shot was taken up on the bridge as part of the very exclusive 3½-hour ‘behind-the-fun’ tour of the non-public areas of the ship during the final full day at sea.

This week on the ‘Retro’ it’s the second most-played song of the fun ship cruise that I heard in the Dynasty Lounge before and after the various games and shows in there. It’s the current worldwide pop and dance radio smash from European sensation Cascada. Here’s “Evacuate The Dancefloor”:

The Major’s Friday Night Disco Party

For the 14 of you who wish to know all about my Carnival Imagination cruise be sure to hit up the big green blog tomorrow (Saturday) morning. I’ll have it all for you ‘Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’ style. You won’t regret it pal !

OK it’s been over 100 hours since our last blogging session together, so let’s get back on schedule here:

Disco Ball

I’m a big fan of Elton John‘s music through the decades. I’ve got favourites of his from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Fast songs. Slow songs. Rockers. Ballads. Some of the greatest songs of my entire lifetime came from Sir Elton.

During the Disco era of the late-1970s Elton kinda sorta took a breather from the action. After all his style of music was not exactly dance floor ready – or was it ?

He actually gave it one shot at the very end of the era during the late Summer of 1979 (although it was actually recorded two Summers earlier). That one shot turned out to be one of the last remaining Top 10 Disco hits during its dying days. For a Disco song from Elton John this one was surprisingly a bit on the mellow side.

Here’s one of my favourite Elton John songs of all-time. Here’s “Mama Can’t Buy You Love” – a Top 10 Disco Smash !
