Homestead Cold Weather Alert

Don’t let this week’s upcoming 80°F+ temperatures during the afternoon hours fool you. Another substantial flip-flop in the current North American continental weather pattern will occur later this week. This will begin another extended period of below normal cool days and particularly frigid nights all across America’s Rivera.

I’m currently forecasting the cold air to arrive during the day on Friday. Early-morning temperatures on Saturday could be in the low-40s here in Homestead with wind chills in the mid-30s !  The same goes for Sunday morning as well. Monday morning should not be as cold, but we may still have some leftover wind chills in the 40s. I am expecting the cold air to stick around for at least 7 days.

It should be a cool and crisp Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa as well – with game-time temperatures dropping down well into the 50s.

I’ll post another update later this week if my current forecast changes substantially. Keep those winter clothes out South Florida !

Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– This should not be confused with the ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’.
– These are ‘Mini Thoughts’ in 15 words or less.
– It’s like a spinoff of the wildly popular flagship Tuesday night series.
– Now that I’ve got that out of the way it’s on to business:
– It was about 61°F in my home when I awoke this morning.
– That was more than 20°F less cold than it was outside at the time.
– It was also about 13°F below normal.
– The normal temperature at night while I sleep is 74°F.
– I can’t control it when it’s unusually frigid outside.
– When I returned home from work it was just below 67°F inside.
– That’s about 8°F below normal.
– I received word late yesterday that my Nutter Butter cookies are safe to eat.
They are not affected by the MASSIVE Peanut Butter recall.
– That’s awesome because I have 11 packs of 4 cookies in my fridge.
– Nutter Butters are my favourite cookies in the entire universe !
– I enjoyed the KFC Variety Big Box Meal for Lunch today.
– That included Potato Wedges. YUM !
– I could eat 250 Potato Wedges in one sitting.
– I may do another ‘Walk-A-Thon’ on-location somewhere.
– I may visit Coral Castle for the first time since 1987.
– I’ll be embarking on a Carnival cruise in just 16 days.
– This is a weekend without the NFL for the first time since last July.
– I’ll have ‘My NFL Weekend Game Picks’ next Thursday.

My NFL Weekend Game Picks

This weekend the TOP 2 teams in each conference battle it out to see who is worthy enough to proceed forward to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Florida on the First of February.

Las Vegas oddsmakers are betting on an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl with the Steelers and the Eagles. These two teams played in back-to-back Super Bowls a few years back – the Eagles lost to the Patriots by 3 in 2005, and the Steelers beat the Seahawks by 11 in 2006.

That’s a Super Bowl that I personally do not wish to see. I’d rather check out the surprising Arizona Cardinals with veteran Super Bowl QB Kurt Warner against the exciting Baltimore Ravens with their rookie head coach John Harbaugh and their 24-year-old rookie QB Joe Flacco.

I wish to see the Cardinals versus the Ravens in Tampa, and so that’s who I’m picking to win their respective conference championship games this Sunday.

The NFC Championship Game begins at 3 PM EST (Pre-Game starts at 2 PM on FOX), and the AFC Championship Game begins at 6:30 PM EST (Pre-Game starts at 6 PM on CBS).
