The Major’s Tweets

twitter_logo

If you’re not following me on Twitter then have no worries, for I’ve got the best of the best tweets from this past week. They are listed in chronological order:

– I am currently watching “Hell’s Kitchen” – perhaps the single TV show in primetime that I look forward to each week more than any other. [8:20 PM Sep 29th from twitter.com]

– Box Office Fun: I dig screwball comedies and horrifying thrillers. “Zombieland” combines both extremes. I can’t wait to laugh and scream !  [8:52 PM Sep 29th from twitter.com]

– OK everyone quiet – “Survivor: Samoa” is on now. [7:58 PM Oct 1st from twitter.com]

– OK the weekend has FINALLY arrived, and I’m kicking it off in GRANDE style – by doing two loads of laundry. Can I get a what-what ?  [4:08 PM Oct 2nd from twitter.com]

– I can clearly see the house that I lived in from ’72-’75 – front yard and all – on Google. It was new back then. Now it looks 38 years old !  [8:25 PM Oct 2nd from twitter.com]

– I’ve been jammin’ to ’70s On 7′ on Sirius XM since last night. THIS is a quality ’70s station – with legendary TOP 40 DJ Jay Thomas on now. [9:14 AM Oct 3rd from twitter.com]

– I am now enjoying Stuffed Spinach Shells & Garlic Rolls courtesy of my good friends over there at The Big Cheese Of Homestead. You know it !  [11:39 AM Oct 3rd from twitter.com]

– “SNL” got bold last night with their opening skit. It was Fred Armisen as the ‘promise-everything’ / ‘do-nothing’ President Obama. So true. [1:30 PM Oct 4th from twitter.com]

Saturday Night Retro

On the last ‘Saturday Night Retro’ I looked back at the great decade that was the 1990s, and I featured one of the hard rockin’ songs of my extended Panama City Beach ‘Summer Of 1990’ – Faith No More‘s “Epic”.

This week I advance forward to 1991. Following a two-month stint over in Al Kharj Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm I began what would eventually (and unknowingly) become the final 17 months of my Active Duty Air Force career at the original Homestead Air Force Base (before Hurricane Andrew). After a tumultuous couple of years at work on the base things drastically improved for the better, and I enjoyed a long climb to the pinnacle of my career at that time.

During the Summer of 1991 I turned 24-years-old, and I began my 7TH year in the USAF. I also went on a 2½-week vacation at the end of August including my very first sea cruise ever on NCL (M/S Seaward) with my family as well as a fun tour of various Tampa and Orlando area amusement parks with my brother for a week after that.

Here’s a big-time TV and movie star dude who actually shares my birthday of June 05TH. I was born in 1967. He was born in 1971. He’s Mark Wahlberg, but back during the Summer of 1991 he was better known as Marky Mark. Here he is with his Funky Bunch. Here’s “Good Vibrations’ – the smash hit that made him a star.

If you’re not following me on Twitter then have no worries, for I’ve got the best of the best tweets from this past week. They are listed in chronological order:

– Americans disrespected, insulted, and hated President Bush and few took a stand. One man yells ‘You Lied !’ and it’s International news. [8:08 PM Sep 15th from twitter.com]

– If President Bush had referred to Kanye West as a ‘J’ then the Democrats would be calling for impeachment hearings. Double standard. [5:19 PM Sep 16th from twitter.com]

– President Carter said that Senator Wilson is a racist. If so then there were lots of racists out there when President Bush was in office. [5:26 PM Sep 16th from twitter.com]

– The season finale of “America’s Got Talent” is tonight, and I’m rooting for Drew Stevyns. He’s a future pop-rock star a la Chris Daughtry. [6:10 PM Sep 16th from twitter.com]

– 14 days on the Carnival Freedom from Rome to Miami in 2007 wasn’t enough. I just booked 8 more for February 2010. Hola Costa Rica y Panama !  [8:12 PM Sep 17th from twitter.com]

– If our young adults believed and followed God and lived the words of His Truth then they would not be disrespecting and killing each other. [5:07 PM Sep 18th from twitter.com]

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  After a rare one-week hiatus the legendary ‘Grab Bag’ is back with an all-new edition. Last Tuesday night at this time I was at sea in the Florida Straits a few hours southwest of Key West on my way to Cozumel Mexico aboard the Fun Ship Carnival Imagination. In case you missed it I blogged my ‘Carnival Imagination Grab Bag O’ Thoughts‘ last Friday night.

2.  I enjoyed a 231-hour vacation from the mid-afternoon of Friday September 04TH through the early-morning of Monday September 14TH. That’s about 69 hours before the cruise, 92 hours on the cruise, and 70 hours after the cruise. My cruise was virtually smack in the middle of my extended vacation bookended by dual three-day weekends. It’s crazy how those numbers worked out that way !

3.  I watched and enjoyed the series premiere of ‘The Jay Leno Show‘ last night, and so did a lot of you. It was a runaway smash in the ratings. I’ll be DVRing it tonight because I’ll be watching the LIVE season finale of ‘Big Brother 11‘ tonight. This was the most successful season ever as far as viewership is concerned. I will definitely miss it during the off-season.

4.  My beloved Washington Redskins are in familiar territory – dead last in the rough and tough NFC East division. They lost their season opener to the Giants of New Jersey 23-17, but the game really wasn’t as close as the final score. I’m thinking that my ‘Skins should have an easier time this Sunday afternoon in their home opener against the lowly Rams. They are favoured by 10 points with an over / under of 36.5, so that equates to (roughly) a 23-13 win. I’d rather see a blowout such as 42-3.

5.  We’re about a month away from seeing cold fronts reach and sweep through America’s Riviera on a regular basis. Those frontal systems from the north and west will drop our humidity and temperature ever so slowly. It’ll be an El Niño winter, so don’t look for the unusually frigid and bone dry winter season that we went through late last year / early this year. Look for a wetter and milder than normal ‘dry’ season. Last season we had between 15 and 20 mornings that started in the 30s and 40s. I’m forecasting less than 10 of those such mornings for the upcoming winter season.
