Bible Christian Church God Ministry Scripture

Sunday Scripture

Today with my church body we praised and worshiped our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, and we shared testimonies of God’s Good News.

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good !  His faithful love endures forever. Has the LORD redeemed you ?  Then speak out !  Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies. (Psalm 107:1-2)

Our Lead Pastor Bob preached on “Sin: Path To Heaven ?”  We are all sinners; however …

Even before He made the world – God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure. (Ephesians 1:4-5)

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2009

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 10 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday December 06TH 2009:

  1. “Trying” – Eleventyseven
  2. “Rolling With The Punches” – Ruth
  3. “City On Our Knees” – TobyMac
  4. “Breathing For Me” – Everyday Sunday
  5. “Broken Man” – Horizons Fall

Check that out – an early TobyMac song on my chart – and a really good one too. That was actually Toby’s 3RD hit on my chart – following the # 1 smash “Made To Love” and “Boomin'”. I had my research department (me) go even further back in time to November of 1996. That’s when TobyMac really charted for the first time – along with Michael Tait and Kevin Max. Together they were dc Talk, and they scored with a Christian # 1 smash that crossed-over onto Secular Top 40 and Adult Contemporary radio stations – “(Just) Between You And Me”. It spent a single week on my chart at # 28.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

Church & State

IMG_4223

I recently stumbled across this meme on social media, and I instantly liked it and saved it. It fits right in with a new sermon that I began writing while on vacation with my family in North Texas. (My brother and sister-in-law randomly revealed to me that they are actually looking for a church to attend in their new town that they live in. My brother specifically stated that he wants to join a small church family of about 20 people.)

I’m part of a small church family where I live. In fact I’m the Associate Pastor at my small church family of about 20 to 30 people. This upcoming March will mark 5 years with my small church family. (I had previously spent 8 years with a large church family that rapidly evolved from a once small church family.)

There are a few things that I miss about a large church family, but after 5 years I’ve realized that I overwhelmingly prefer the small church family experience. When I retire and move away from here in about 4 years I hope to join a small church family in my new town. If God gives me the opportunity I’d love to Lead Pastor a small church family and walk with them towards God every day.

So back to the meme. There are dozens of churches where I live, and by “churches” I don’t mean the buildings. I mean the bodies that meet corporately inside those buildings – whether they are traditional church buildings, or movie theatres, or schools, or hotels, or former stores in shopping centers. Do what I did. Do research online and offline, and determine which of those churches (bodies) are closest to the Bible. Once you do that go and visit that church for a Sunday morning service. If you feel loved immediately by God’s children – then God probably led you there intentionally. Declare it your new home.

Don’t go to church. Be the church. Bring the church. Your life will change forever.

Jeremy Camp’s 4TH hit on my chart (since 2006) is his 2ND # 1 smash, as “Dead Man Walking” ascended to the top in its 19TH week on my chart last week. (He previously spent 2 weeks at # 1 in 2017 with “Word Of Life”.)

“Nobody (But Jesus)” is still at # 2 for a 7TH non-consecutive week. That’s after 7 weeks in a row at # 1. It should come as no surprise that it will be my # 1 smash of the entire year. This New Year’s Eve on a special Tuesday blog post I’ll present my Top 19 hits of 2019.

This was a short weekend here at #CountUp, but it’s great to be blogging again. Next weekend I’ll serve up a full weekend of blog posts – starting at 3 AM U.S. East Coast Time on Thursday. In fact – looking at the calendar – it looks like I’ll be posting 19 times in December. I hope that you’ll stay tuned this month to see what I’ve got to share with you.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this new week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him.
