Bedtime Stories

TOMORROW is the long-awaited big day. I’m leaving for Kendall Drive in the morning, and I’m heading straight to Circuit City to buy my sparkling new state-of-the-art desktop computer system. It’ll be my first store-bought computer system in about 9 years (that was an HP Pavilion 6545C desktop), and it’ll be my first replacement computer system in nearly 3½ years (that was a used HP Pavilion ZT1290 laptop that was new in 2002 but bought by me in 2005). Every single blog entry that you have ever read from me was done on that laptop, and she shall retire from active duty tomorrow once I bring home my new baby !

Oh yeah I’m also buying this sparkling new flat-panel LCD widescreen monitor to replace my longtime monitor of the past 9 years.

2008 computer technology arrives in my home tomorrow !

Until we hang out again here on the big blog (via my fresh new computer system) REMEMBER THIS classic Circuit City television commercial from 1994 when the 486 SX / 33 was state-of-the-art, and Packard Bell was a household name.

Friday Night Blogroll Review

Here’s what’s happenin’ at 5 of my favourite blogs:

P.J. The Cane’s ‘Thought Shells’ this past Thursday can be summed-up as follows: Lobster, Football, Chicken, Itching, and Blogging. Phil was eating his lobster and chicken while watching football, and he was itching to get to some blogging soon !

There are a lot of prejudice Christians out there who immediately write-off rock and heavy metal music as evil, demonic, and Satanic. Ritz explains why these radicals need to ‘Get With The Times’. I also weigh-in with my personal viewpoint on this issue.

Rebecca intended to make homemade burritos, but she made stir-fry instead.

Kelly shows off her pics of the River Walk en San Antonio. Deja Vu (for me).

My favourite Pastor who isn’t at Life Pointe Church – Nathan – rages against the ‘Green’ machine. I’m totally with Nathan on the environmental issue. I’m also happy to see that Nathan has not abandoned his award-winning blog !

THANK YOU my fellow bloggers for another historic week of bloggertainment !

Mario’s Latin Café: It’s What’s For Dinner

Mario's Latin Cafe - Homestead Florida
Mario's Latin Café - Homestead Florida

TONIGHT I enjoyed Dinner with a good friend of mine at Mario’s Latin Café – right in the heart of Homestead on Useless-One at NE 11TH Street (SW 308TH Street). It’s the first time that I’ve eaten there in several years, but we all know that this dude, his brother, his brother’s wife, his wife, his Mom, and his Dad all hang out there on a regular basis because they love it there !  😮

I enjoyed the mother of all MASSIVE meals big and small consisting of Milanesa De Pollo (breaded chicken with ham, marinara sauce, and melted cheese), 3 mashed potato scoops, and 4 large sweet plantains. Ice water, cold Sprite, and hot buttered breadsticks complemented the MASSIVE meal nicely. Customer service was friendly and borderline outstanding. Hot foods were hot. Cold drinks were cold. I surely enjoyed my culinary experience there, and I certainly enjoyed hanging out with Tammy again !

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve actually eaten at Mario’s since it opened for business. I think that I need to eat there more often. I just need to go there at the end of a hunger strike (due to their ENORMOUS portions). I’ve heard that Breakfast there is delightful !

Check out their menu !

Hoaxes Internet

Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame

This is not a MASSIVE Tsunami wave that’s a half a second away from destroying this residential neighbourhood in Southeast Asia:

Tsunami Hits Sumatra
Tsunami Hits Sumatra

1/2 A SECOND BEFORE TSUNAMI

The last picture !  There are people who believe in God, there are others who don’t believe, but we must understand that we are small when nature hits. This picture was taken on the banks of Sumatra Island (the height of waves was of approx. 32 m = 105 ft). It was found saved in a digital camera, 1 1/2 years after the disaster.

We cannot know for sure, but very likely the one who took the picture is not alive any more (it was just a matter of seconds). Today we can see the last image he / she saw before ending life on Earth !

(This of course is an Internet Hoax.)

Read all about it.
