Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

1.  It was so great to see Anne J.’s car double-parked right in front of the front doors of the movie theatre as I arrived bright and early this morning. She’s feeling better now after a brief illness, and she was running around all over the place for 100 minutes before the 9 AM service even started !

2.  Ms. Annie H. was over at the Guests’ Information Table for a little while this morning. I think that she was getting some advice from Terry and Patricia on how to add even more cool stuff to the Kids’ Life Registration table. As a result I went over to Lisa and Luciana to give them some cool new ideas of my own. ‘This is not a competition !’, exclaimed Pastor Paul as he rushed into the Pier to beat Pastor Travis.

3.  Jesse and the band and the back-up singers continue to amaze me. They performed “Afterglow” from the longtime rock band INXS during ‘Praise & Worship’. “Afterglow” was co-written by INXS bandmember Andrew Farriss and award-winning songwriter Desmond Child as a tribute to longtime INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence (1960-1997).

4.  Pastor Travis closed out the ‘Fully Engaged’ message series this morning with an inspirational teaching that received more applause than the State Of The Union address. It was all about a lack of guts in today’s church which doesn’t look like the revolutionary Jesus. It’s soft. It’s unchallenging. To live like Jesus lived is to be gutsy – to create a stir – to create a revolution. We need to pray like it’s all up to God, and we need to work like it’s all up to us. We need to pray big, dream big, and refuse to quit. We need to change the world.

5.  Life Pointe Church is taking over Harris Field in Homestead this Good Friday night. Gates open at 6 PM for our ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt’, and the fun for the whole family starts at 7 PM. We are expecting 2,000 to 3,000 guests out there, so we will need everyone there early to be ‘Fully Engaged’ and help out and serve in some capacity. Everyone has their own unique talents, and we’d love to see them in action on Friday night so that everything runs as smoothly as possible. For more information on this MASSIVE event be sure to check out our special web site at easterinhomestead.com.

6.  We will have 3 services next Sunday morning for Easter, and they begin promptly at 8:30, 9:40, and 10:50. We’re expecting all 3 services to be crammed to capacity, so get there extra early and try to attend the 8:30 AM service if you can so that we can free up some valuable seats for the two later services.

The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

Sky: Clear
Temperature: 67°F
Relative Humidity: 100%
Winds: Calm
Barometric Pressure: 29.94 Rising

My thoughts:

1.  This morning most of my walk occurred before sunrise. I walked from 7:17 AM to 7:42 AM. It was a basic 1.3-mile walk around my neighbourhood, but I did so counterclockwise rather than the normal clockwise. I like to take risks like that !  😉

2.  The Spring holidays are here. Tomorrow is Palm Sunday, and that leads in to Holy Week including Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I can tell that the holidays are here. A lot of my neighbours are on vacation now. There are a lot of empty parking spaces all around.

3.  I passed an adorable little black cat at the southern tip of my walk this morning that could have passed for a ‘Baby Boots’. Boots was my home buddy for 12½ years from 1995 to 2007. ‘Baby Boots’ looked at me with loving eyes. He just knew that I am a friend of felines.

4.  What an amazing music set I listened to on my iPod shuffle during my 25-minute walk:
– “Breathe You In” – Thousand Foot Krutch
– “Glorious” – Ever Stays Red
– “Nuisance” – John Reuben With Matt Thiessen
– “New Skeptic” – The Fold
– “Strong Tower” – Kutless
– “Live Like We’re Alive” – Nevertheless
– “Awake” – Seventh Day Slumber

5.  After the walk I ventured over to the former sanctuary of Life Pointe Church to help stuff thousands of Easter Eggs with candy in preparation of this MASSIVE event that’s gonna rock Homestead on Good Friday. After that I hung out with most of the prayer group that meets at the original church building every Saturday morning. We all did Lunch together at Loly’s Restaurant in the Old Dixie Center just up the road. It was a great time of fun, food, and fellowship.

Friday Night Blogroll Review

It’s Friday night, so here are my 7 favourite blog entries of this past week:

Travis is very disappointed with The Atlanta Bread Company for shutting-down his WiFi. If you’re looking for him on Monday then he may just be in the next town over – at the Starbucks in Florida City – where WiFi still lives.

Blake just keeps getting bigger, and he’s also declared that these shoes are made for walkin’.

Phil profiled an awesome lady who just happens to be in my Life Group – Ms. Arlene Rance. I’ve known her for not quite a year now, and I determined rather early on that she is a truly special disciple of God.

Jesse has two new buddies, and they both go into his ears.

Luciana is out-of-control excited about our upcoming ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt’ at Harris Field next Good Friday. Read all about it this MASSIVE event at easterinhomestead.com.

Nathan had a successful Sunday morning at InDependence Church in Weston Florida despite the Daylight Savings Time change.

Harmony had her hands full earlier this week trying to keep the house clean with her (and Nathan’s) son undoing the cleanliness.

THANK YOU fellow bloggers for another entertaining week !
